I'd rather take a nice, long walk off a short pier in alligator alley in Florida.
Of course not. It is awesome. Also for some reason despite hating all of his films all of you are still here. Instead of actually enjoying something you like. Curious.
The worst part is that the ideas are there and are alright ideas. Just the way they are put together are bad. They should have cut the taming and the spider lady and put it into a 2-8 minute long montage. And put that like 30 minutes into interpersonal development. And cut like 1/3 of the slowmo.
Honestly, this seems as though Mr Snyder looks pieces from things he likes and mashed them together. Star Wars, 40k, and Seven Samurai seem to be the main contributors. It's like Eragon all over again.
I just realize something I don’t know for sure exactly, but I think you should tackle it and tell us why Netflix Marvel TV shows are very different from Disney’s Marvel TV shows.
It’s hard not to give all the blame to Zack for this mess but I’m also Blaming Netflix. Rebel moon part 1 just doesn’t work as a movie. It just feels too rushed. They should have made this into a series where Kora is assembling the team and each episode flashes back to the characters journey.
I think there is blame to go all around. I put I lot of it on Snyder though because it's clear he wanted Rebel Moon to be a movie rather than a show as every time he pitched it he pitched as a movie
I honest to god I forgot this Film Existed until Part 2 Trailer came out, I’m sorry I didn’t watch the Movie and I didn’t gave a Damn to see Rebel Moon, I literally stopped caring about Zach’s Vision in Storytelling since BVS and even before I saw the Snyder Cut I watched Sucker Punch and all I remember was hating the Film, Snyder’s Vision as one major Weakness and that is the Execution of the Story and the Lack of making us like the Main Characters and you know what I’m glad I’m not the only one who didn’t care about this Movie, Great Video as Always Gio, you make it more Enjoyable than Rebel Moon Itself.
If you look at Zack Snyder's catalog --- he can only copy and paste. 300 = graphic novel watchmen = grave novel batman = comic book superman = comic book bvj = comic book rebel moon = star wars, 7sam, warhammer, bvj , justice league (shots, music score is almost a direct copy).
Haven't finished the vid yet but I assume you mention this- whyyy were we shown each character's (I use tnat term loosely) 'specific set of skills' and then at the end they all just use generic laser guns?!
Everyone of your uploads gets better and better. Seriously love the energy you bring to these reviews man, I can tell you are enjoying what you're doing! keep it up.
I'm planning on reading the novelization that I bought of Rebel Moon and see if it's better. I haven't watched it because I tend to notice the novels give better explanations than certain shows or movies they are based on.
The extended cut of the Justice League movie was *miles* better than the original. In case you forgot: The original release basically cut Cyborg's entire backstory, aswell as the connected backstory of the mother boxes, meaning the audience had 0 idea who Cyborg was, what his motivations were, where his powers came from, how his father was connected to the plot, what the mother boxes were or how the mother boxes were connected to the plot or Cyborg. I'm not saying the Snyder Cut is a masterpiece by any stretch, but claiming that a version of the movie where nothing makes sense and one of the "main characters" is just a random extra that shows up and leaves again without any further explaination is of the same quality as a version of the movie where the plot and said character actually do make (some) sense is just incorrect.
If you really think that this movie is tryin to stablish a sequel? You are a fool, this movie exist just to stablish the director's cut of itself, with the real content and a R rating
Bruh then why didn't he just release a 4 hour directors cut??? It's Netflix they were gonna let him do whatever he wanted and it's streaming so the worry about length isn't there. It kinda just seems like Snyder is a hack who can't tell a good story unless he has 4 straight hours of exposition dumping and slow mo fight sequences
Yep I’m sick and tired of CGI backgrounds. As well as poor usage of volume stages. I really appreciate it when real sets are built and scenes are filmed on location.
Rebel would've been so much better if it was a tv show instead of a movie. That way you could better explore the characters and build up there relationships with slow paced episodes. And maybe Gunnar should be the main character he's a small time farm boy and trouble maker who dreams of travelling off world and becoming the best pilot in the galaxy. He deals with the Rebels to make some extra money to get off world which results in the clan leader being killed. He suggests looking for warriors to fight against the mother world to redeem himself. Kara becomes Gunnars mentor and we learn more about her backstory. They search for the blood axes because they need Allies and on the way recruit other warriors. They meet nemesis a bounty Hunter who joins there cause and uses her criminal connections to find Titiaus.
Zack Snyder is a frustrating individual because he can write a good story, we've seen it in Wonder Woman 2017. But, when the time comes for him to do something original, he completely fails at everything.

Atmosphere is the only thing in this film that I love. Everything else is stupid and inadequate. Heroes and villains are stupid and inadequate. And the main female character, weighing 60 kg, moves as if she were a hulking Argentinosaurus weighing 80 tons.
25:44, I didn’t know TeamFourStar’s Alucard was on Patreon. 0:23, Oddly enough, things like the Boys and Invincible manage to embody this concept of morally compromised supers while also being coherent narratives without much dissonance or excesses Snyder puts in his films. His cut of Justice League had great potential because of its expansion of its characters (especially Cyborg and his gradual acceptance of his condition and the group generally bonding over being metas alone in a world of regular humans that fear and hate them), meaning their brief defeat and subsequent victory actually impactful, but this didn’t stop the film from being incoherent in other areas (famously Wonder Woman violently slaughtering thugs and their captives being inspired by her rather than running from her in pants-pissing terror). Arguably, Man Of Steel was the best of his DCEU films because it committed to it gritty and realistic tone (so no pointless artistic shots that didn’t serve the story or world-building or characterization) and was relatively well paced (feel what you will about the characters, story or tone). Rebel Moon feels like Zack is pouring every story he’s ever directed into one, incorporating elements of 300 and Sucker Punch especially, but without the intrigue or character those prior films had. Not to say the premise is bad or the setting doesn’t have the potential to be interesting, only that in its current state and with the directors cut being bound to make its pacing issues that much worse, it’ll end up just being a repeat of the Snyder Cut, bloated and excessive with some minor elements of greatness.
It looks exactly like the 2010 movie. But it seems to give Earth benders more story. The 2010 movie flopped because it condensed the whole story but I have no real gripes with it(except the Earth benders neglect). Anyway then we had high standards, if it came out today it would be decent compared to the blockbuster trash from the last few years lol
Snyder just grabbed 40k and Starwars and smashed them together. ALOT more from 40k then starwars. Which pisses me off because 40k is awesome, and this guy's bizarro clone is insulting.
So Snyder just gave his villain the Kylo Ren treatment of getting his ass kicked at his very first confrontation with the protagonist. So why does the Palpatine 2.0 even bother to resurrect him when it's clear that the space nazi guy is utterly incompetent. So far he's only managed to kill 3 unarmed civilians, lost all his immobilised captives and then got beaten by a small woman. What a menacing guy!
5:25 I don't think you saw or really understood what happened in the beginning of the move. I say this because you overlooked that, or just straight out hide the fact that Gunner sold the village's surplus stocks to the rebels and that is why they don't have as much. He was trying to make big moves to help build the village. That is why they don't already have stocks to sell them. That is also the fact why the village elder was on edge, since they all know that the empire is looking for the rebels and anyone that helped them. But you must have a very good explanation as to why you didn't state this fact that adds a way more thrilling and suspenseful mood to this part of the move. Also, the Main Character also tells you why the Empire doesn't give a crap about the village starving after they take everything. She states they do not care about the village or its people. They only care about what they need and will take it all. There are other villages to take other supplies.
LMAO this analysis changes literally nothing about the criticism here. It still doesn't make sense for them to lie and it doesn't make sense for the empire to just kill everyone bc as he said in the review they'll still come up against starvation once they take everything from the villahe
@@ar71498 So by your logic it's best to just say that we don't have as much surplus as we should based on how much land we had because we sold it to the rebels factions already? The same rebels that you have been mercilessly hunting down. Yup, you're right they should not have lied and just told the truth. I am should he would have just forgave them and let them all live peacefully. Also, I addressed the point that one village being destroyed would not matter. There are other villages and other people the empire can take from. To make my point why would they have destroyed the weird fish lords kingdom if they could just taken all their stuff instead? The reason is the same as all villain actions like this. It's to show their power, and to spread fear to the rest, that crossing them leads only to everything being destroyed. It was the same on Star Wars when the Death Star blowup its first planet, and in the Patriot movie when the all the townsfolk were burned alive for helping the rebels. Examples must be made and any sort of treason must be crushed.
@BIGFRANKOL75 ok even if you have this one singular point (even then it's a bit of a stretch bc like all Snyder movies it takes 3 viewings and a ton of assumptions to make sense of the ridiculous plot). It still doesn't make up for the entire rest of the movie being absolute dog water
I didn't mention it because it didn't matter or change my point. The village sells its surplus anyway, it just so happens that this time Gunner sold it to the Rebels. I get the lie the village leader told, it just wasn't the best lie considering the land and people look perfectly fine and not struggling for food. My only issue i had was with Atticus plan, Yeah Kora says it's what they do, but it doesn't change the fact that it's a moronic move to do. Rather than destroying everything, enslaving these planets would makes their lives much easier long term and won't need to worry about constantly finding new plants for resources. Hope this clears up my issues a bit more with Atticus's plan.
and you know Zack going announced a rate R movie to this movie felt like you play a RPG game and you skip all the dialog and finally fight the boss and you have no idea what happened that what this movie felt cause you get no character development from any of the characters and don't care about them
Great video as always GIo but i didnt hate this movie like you. I enjoyed it and looking forward to Part 2 and directors cut. Kora to me after hearing her backstory felt more like a female version of Fin from SW sequel trilogy with maybe a better arc. The jury is still not sure until they see Part 2. If you want to know more about Bloodaxe and their rebelion? Read a comic. Not joking here, there will a comic House of Bloodaxe from Titan Comics writen by Mags Visaggio covering their backstory this year.
But that's the thing. You shouldn't have to rely on supplementary material to make an interesting story. The only series that gets away with relying on supplementary material is the star wars prequels but they on their own have fun visuals and exciting battles so it kind of makes up for the weak story in episodes I and II. Rebel Moon has the same weaknesses but none of the charm
@@ar71498 I feel the same but this is how Zack Snyder decided to expand the world. I just hope that after part 2 he moves away from retailing Seven Samurai and focus more on exploring the world of Rebel Moon.
@mladenkulic446 if the argument is "oh you need the directors cut for everything to make sense" then why didn't he just release that? It's Netflix so he doesn't have to worry about length since people can pause and watch at their own pace, why release a version of the movie that is inferior?
@@ar71498 This just my perspective but i think he released PG-13 so that it could play in limited theaters like Army of the Dead. However since Netflix decided to no longer do a theatrical release for their movies we got the inferior version. Now the counter argument would be why didnt he just released the R-Rated version if he knew that was the case? I dont know, maybe he likes to pissing off his critics. Either way i'm not a fan as well that i have to wait somewhere arond summer for the directors cut.
Thanks man I'm glad you like the video and found enjoyment out of this movie where i couldn't. And while I can't speak on the comics becasue I haven't read them. My stance will always be that I shouldn't have to do homework in a different from of media (Comics, books, Video games ect.) to understand a movie or a show. That may be just me, but id much rather have those thing enhance the movie, not a requirement. I hope he pulls it together in part 2. I mean he basically introduced all the characters so now all he has to do is develop them.
You Zack Snyder haters are so silly. You DID NOT watch Rebel Moon.. You watched patched together clips for the theater... As Zack said he's making a director's cut where you can watch the true Rebel Moon. So you basically just watched a long trailer and are complaining that the trailer didn't give you everyone's backstory.
Why did he release an unfinished cut because he knows idiots like you would watch what is basically the same movie twice thinking it’s good. He did the same thing with BvS and justice league
Well, here's the thing, man. A movie should not feel like a long trailer, it should feel like and actually be a friggin' movie that's actually well-developed!

All that being said, this movie was just, wow. From the the editing to the characters personalities having the equivalent of a box of rocks. Aaaaaand that's insulting rocks. Mind you, I got halfway, so, not all of the characters were introduced lol. The only positives this movie has for me is Sofia Boutella being the lead and the visuals at times were awesome, after that, there's nothing going for this movie. There's really not, besides, there's gonna be a three hour directors cut and it's like, ok, I'll just finish and watch that when it's out. Cuz I ain't watching the rest of this version. Hell no. I'd rather take a nice, long walk off a short pier in alligator alley in Florida.
Of course not. It is awesome.
Also for some reason despite hating all of his films all of you are still here. Instead of actually enjoying something you like. Curious.
Man… your videos are always so entertaining! Underrated channel
That means a lot man. I really try to put the best videos I can out and even if I'm just entertaining one person I'd be happy.
What do you think about making a video on old trash movies like Dragon Ball Evolution, the Last Airbender or Rise of Skywalker?
The power of plot convience strikes again.
It's fine to take inspiration, but just make sure the end product is actually good.

I love you reviews there are aways so unbelievably funny.
This film was a colossal mess of ideas thrown together and called a movie.
If you look at Zack Snyder's catalog --- he can only copy and paste.
300 = graphic novel
watchmen = grave novel
batman = comic book
superman = comic book
bvj = comic book
rebel moon = star wars, 7sam, warhammer, bvj , justice league (shots, music score is almost a direct copy).
Tell us how that goes.
Fucking True! lol
Tarik is in my top 3 favorite sci fi movie characters. And mauris or whatever her name is is in my top 10.

@@GIGio_Official Hell yeah
Yes, please. I am not really watching it but i see a few scenes and i got bored, even i got bored with th gifts
The CGI background kept distracting me in the start of the movie
You just remind me how much i hate his dc movies
What do you hate about them
@@BK-sh2pn the slow mo, he show he understand nothing about the characters like superman snapping zod neck instead of trying to fly or lift him and batman using guns for his batmoblie also Jonathan kent dumb sacrifice instead of having clark save him and his movies are just to long like the justice league synder cut 4 Hours fill with bloat like people walking up steps
@@om58499 Yikes not this argument again.
Superman snapping Zods neck wasn’t a bad thing at all. If you listen to the dialogue, Zod makes it clear that he will never stop. He will never stop trying to conquer earth and kill its people. That leaves Clark with only one choice, to kill him. This is before kryptonite is discovered so there is no military prison that can hold him, and Superman also has no way to send him back to the phantom zone anymore.
And after killing Zod, Superman cries out in pain as he’s ashamed of what he’s done. Y’all act like he did it maliciously.
@@BK-sh2pn no it shows that zack superman is a quitter instead getting zod out the city and knocking him out and try to find a way to contain him he just pick the call it quit and kill him he superman he should never give up he should always look for another way not this gritty guy zack show on screen
@@om58499 Bro Zod was just as powerful as Superman was way a way better fighter, Clark had a chance to save the human race and took it. If this were real life, you’d be pissed off if Superman risked Zod destroying the world just so he could MAYBE make a prison for him.
Atmosphere is the only thing in this film that I love. Everything else is stupid and inadequate. Heroes and villains are stupid and inadequate. And the main female character, weighing 60 kg, moves as if she were a hulking Argentinosaurus weighing 80 tons.
I’m a simple man.
I see a G.I. GIO video… I click on it.
Thanks man! Glad you enjoy the content
Such a shame, cause Rebel moon is an awesome name.
Why is the plot of this movie the same as ’a bugs life’?
I don't know but it makes it that much more funny.
I’m glad that you said the Snyder cut is just as bad as the joss cut
Is it just me or is this movie similar to Warhammer 40k?
So does anyone know the most wanted fugitive in the world..or their country...or city?
Zack Snyder is Manchester Black. This is not news.

Snyder just grabbed 40k and Starwars and smashed them together. ALOT more from 40k then starwars. Which pisses me off because 40k is awesome, and this guy's bizarro clone is insulting.

The criticisms by different reviewers single out many of the same faults. That strongly suggests that the criticisms are (all too fully) justified.
I want to hear your thoughts on CW’s black lightning.
It's SO ASININE that the main 3 agree to potentially become slaves in exchange for a dude whom they don't even know 🤦
Metric Assload. Nuff said!
Thanks. Your subtitles are...a choice. I wouldn't make. But thanks.
Sir.. i hate you so much for making me question this movie's awesomeness..😢😢 😅😅😅

I don't think you saw or really understood what happened in the beginning of the move.
THANK YOU! Glad to see another fellow fan of this film who enjoyed it and understood it.

and you know Zack going announced a rate R movie to this movie felt like you play a RPG game and you skip all the dialog and finally fight the boss and you have no idea what happened that what this movie felt cause you get no character development from any of the characters and don't care about them
And somehow people keep yelling at me on Twitter that Snyder is a good director
I have had far more enjoyment listening to people rag on Rebel Moon than I could ever have received watching it.
You watched rebel moon twice?? 😬
