    Hi, as someone who is experienced in Pilates, how do you find the total gym gts/encompass stack up against a traditional reformer?

      Hi, Kat - I would say for a Pilates purist it is a different experience and probably not the best choice. The GTS and Encompass are closer to the reformer experience (vs. the Fit and XLS) because the glide board can be made flat, but it is still not the same. For me, that's OK. I think the Total Gym is better for strength training compared to a reformer, so I am willing to make that trade-off. I can still get in a Pilates style workout when I want, even though I have to modify the exercises a little. Hope that helps! Let me know if you have any other questions.

      Thank you so much for your quick response and honesty! I do think the GTS would be better for strength training, but I think I was gravitating towards the Pilates features and would ultimately prefer the traditional experience. Your videos have been so helpful though and informative. I appreciate it!

      This model doesn't go completely flat like a traditional reformer. Raising the angle of the board increases the amount of resistance, similar to adding springs on a reformer. The Total Gym commercial models (GTS and Encompass) have a glideboard that can be made completely flat, so it's more like a traditional reformer. Hope that helps!
