    Very good video! So glad I didn't have to see every plant you've ever grown and hear loud music but just the facts! Very informative!

    By far the BEST "How To set up Blumat System" on UA-cam!!!!
    Excellent job brother man I appreciate you! Thanks again.

    outdoors we have to correct the temperature up in the deposits by isolating them from below from the roofs' heat by palets underlayer & ivy above or tree shadow from the sun for the reason of o2 poor water due to its heat is bad for soil life & plant roots !

    i connect water dposits on a 2m slope to the rain deposits below the roof by a hose (deposit connectors taps w/ small filter inside 3$ from aliexpress). having spent all rain water, i fill them up w/ tap water in drought periods.

    1 pjurpose to mention is the effect of rain water to soil ife for its lower ph & absence of chloride (= pool desinfector killing all bacteria in the soil where it gets to, even the nitrobacters from beans & peas!). even filling up the deposits from tap water by a hose, it looses its chloride in some hours or days depending on the sun.

      Works great. Upgraded to super flex 8mm. 1 carrot per 7 gallon last time was nice. I preferred a more even watering so I bought 3 more drippers. So 3 drippers and 1 carrot for each 7 gal

    2 more IMPORTANT points to mention: water levels in the deposit should not vary too much from full to almost empty changing the pressure level for the ceramic valves too much which would mean recalibrating them twice (for almost empty to full again). some use tropfblumat for fertigation, but i doubt wether the dissolution in the deposits would stay stable enough for its run through time or concentrate too much near the bottom ? one purpose of gravitational deposits is chloride free watering, because even fed w/ tap water (in absence of rain water for drought) it dissolves during hours or days into the air.

    i pump it automatized up using a prgrammable solar pump from the rain deposits below the roof up 2m above for the gravitational irrigation deposits max. suction height (1,6m) & max. pumping height (4m)should be respected buying such pump (aldi 40€ or aliexpress cheaper)

    Can you also just run one line down and use a splitter to make a loop from one line?

    Does Blumats work with pure Coir as the grow medium or is it too fluffy?

    Do I need an aerator in my res for this system? I'm using a 5 gal bucket as well.

    • @Haywoodjablomie100
      @Haywoodjablomie100 Рік тому

      Aerator introduces air bubbles, and they are the enemy of a Bluemat system. So no i wouldn't.

    @SustainableVillage1 is the dual-bulkhead approach still needed if only watering 1-2 pots or can I simply do a straight path from bucket->bulkhead->shutoff valve -> blumatA -> blumatB -> shutoff valve?

    • @djgui95
      @djgui95 21 день тому

      Did you try out the straight path instead of the loop, if so how did it go?

    So I just got my blumat. But my grow already started. Seedlings are about 3” tall.
    I know I have to water the soil a lot as the first step of this installation shows. I’m worried I will flood my plants but soaking all of the soil around a small seedling. Do you think it will be okay doing it just this once? For the installation? Thanks!

    • @SustainableVillage1
      @SustainableVillage1  2 роки тому +2

      Sorry for the late reply. You don't need to flood your plants, water as much as you feel comfortable. You can always readjust the Blumats when your plants are bigger.

    I see quite a bit of perlite in that container you setup...do you ever get run aways? I use a good amount of perlite and if I don't use a coco backfill for the carrot I have some containers taht just flood out... is that just me or have you experienced that? Dial back two triangles you say....I will try this.

    • @SustainableVillage1
      @SustainableVillage1  2 роки тому +2

      Best practice is to create a hole and fill it with coco or soil without perlite in it. So you are doing exactly what we recommend. We talk more about that technique in the Troubleshooting video ua-cam.com/video/gLy5m1MKWnY/v-deo.html

    Could you do a video on expanding the reservoir to two buckets as I'm having to fill mine up every day or two? Any help is much appreciated.

      Bigger resevoir would be much easier, you can use your existing bulkheads. You know what I mean.

    If you set up a disribution dripper . Do you need to calibrate all of them. Or just open them up all the way?

    • @ashtonperdue742
      @ashtonperdue742 2 роки тому

      Yes

    • @SustainableVillage1
      @SustainableVillage1  2 роки тому

      You do not need to calibrate all the distribution drippers. You do not need to open them unless there is a clog or you are seeing a problem with them not watering. However, you do need to calibrate every Tropf Blumat.

    Do you have to have the on off valves connected to the bucket

    • @chicagoangler
      @chicagoangler Рік тому

      No but they are $5 and you would want that extra option in case you have an emergency and need to quickly shut off water.

    Hey just wonder if you are able to put a y fitting after the carrot to spread the water more evenly?

    • @SustainableVillage1
      @SustainableVillage1  2 роки тому

      Yes, absolutely! Y fittings are a great economical way to spread out the water.
