  • Hoocho explores another self watering system designed for the lazy hydroponic gardener.
This is a Self Watering, Moisture Sensing, Gravity Fed Hydroponic System
I was not paid or incentivised to do this video.
Search “Tropf Blumat” on google shopping to find the cheapest device near you.
    Here is the manufacturers website:
    www.blumat.com/en
Here is the company that markets the device in Australia’s website:
    www.mazeproducts.com.au/produ...
Here is a link for those overseas:
    rover.ebay.com/rover/1/711-53...
*These are actually made in Austria by a company called Blumat, but Austria is close enough to Australia... right.
Hoochos explores the worlds of Hydroponics, Aquaponics, Permaculture, Homesteading, Fermentation, Technology Vanlife and DIY Builds to look at the world through a larger lens that can incorporate the best of everything into a rich and rewarding lifestyle.
Through self sufficiency we can reduce consumption and increase our hyperlocal household production.
    Merch:
A way to support the channel and get some cool stuff too.
There are two stores because dependant on where you live in the world one will be cheaper than the other (shipping) and it gives a range of design flexibility.

Keen to see if it works. I made the ancient irrigation ollas and the capillary action is draining it all out the system faster than the plants can utilise it. Have added waterproofing to the bottom so hoping that works. This seems smarter with the open/close valve. Do give us an update! Same as with that other teaser terraplanter! Nice one!!

I was considering doing exactly this, but was worried the nutrient salts would actually interfere with the capillary action that operates the pressure switch more than it building up in the tubing itself. Really excited to see how this goes, thank you for the great videos!

Since you're someone who has read a lot about this and has used a variety of growing mediums I thought I'd ask what you think about coco coir vs vermiculite / perlite? I've read around the net that coco isn't super sustainable. Does it end up working a lot better than vermiculite / perlite for similar methods though?

    • @Hoocho
      @Hoocho  3 роки тому +1

Coco is actually a byproduct of the coconut shell industry. (Coconut milk, oil, flesh, etc) and the farming of coconuts when done in an environmentally friendly way is a renewable resource.
I think you’re thinking of spagnum and peat moss, which is harvested from peat marsh. Which is extremely unsustainable.
Vermiculite/perlite is a fantastic mix, I’m just working my way through trying each mix thoroughly and I happened upon a lot of coco for very cheap.
50/50 Vermiculite /perlite is second to none for seed raising though.
