thanks for your easy and quick explanation, just did it on my Pictors and worked perfectly!
Gratitude for the great explanation and tutorial on the lens. Currently was making a decision between Canon Servo and the Pictor Zooms for Bmpcc 6k Pro. Thanks for the help.
Done.... I am not good at this stuff but I did it! BMPCC 6k pro. I used jake meaux numbers... The 20-55mm uses .67 shims and the 50-125mm uses .73 shims. DId the star chart at 4.9 feet... both were perfect right away. I am real excited about this. Thanks again dude and jake!
Meant Duke... Not dude.
Thank you so much! I have the same set up. Worked like a charm!
Is this still the same shims i need to apply to the 6k pro??My lens are coming today just wanted a heads up
@@vikramsaini6128 yes... Those numbers still work on bmpcc 6k pro... I use a white 20-55mm dzofilm lens every day... Perfect parfocus... Thanks to the original post.
@@stevenmurray2856 any advice or tips for this lens with the blackmagic 6k pro
Thank you!!! this video was super helpful!!!
Thank you, Duke, for creating this video. It took me awhile to setup the DZOFilm Pictor 20-55 zoom lens for my RED Komodo camera with the standard Canon RF-EF adapter, but this is what I found. The following shims are required: .5, .1, .02, .05. With this combination, I was able to achieve parfocality. Hope this helps make it easier for any Komodo users. A side note... I'm returning the lens because the optical quality is not acceptable for my clients, at least the copy I have. There is significant reduction in sharpness and increase in color fringing in the corners in the larger apertures. The pros for the lens is it is parfocal once setup, and it does cover the RED Komodo 6K sensor well with very little falloff.
I think maybe something wrong with the lens you had. Mine was great including the sharpness. Have you tried the Vespid?
Thanks dude! I really needed it!
Thank you! great video.
Thank you for this amazing video!
Very helpful, thank you
thanks a lot for the tutorial!! helped a lot!!! super easy, super fast tutorial, how it should be!!! you have my sub!!!
Amazing! Thank you!
Great job!

Great Video Duke... saves a ton ok time... thumbs up and a subscription! Thanks!

Rad! thanks dude
Can't wait to test this lens on the zcam e2-s6. Very helpful video
@@dukepham do you have an instagram? We can talk that way
@@dukepham added you im definitely going to need help getting the zoom right.
@@darkechoproductionsllc9559 What shims did you use to get perfect focus?
@@treyedwards9265 I followed how he showed and used dzofilm charts. Took 4 trys to nail it

Great video ! Simple and efficient. Thanks a lot.
Considering purchasing these lenses. Is this adjustment necessary just for the Blackmagic 6k camera? Do they work right out of the box with other cameras?
Does the Nucleus Nano work with the lens? I heard that the focus work only with small dslr lenses. Cool video!
@Duke Pham I just changed my mount and it will not click into place with normal force on My BMPCC 6K Pro. Please tell me this is not what people mean by it doesn't lock.
Anyone know the exact shims they used for both lens on the ursa 12k PL Mount.
Thank you in advance friends
Does the 1.5 meters distance change with different cameras or stay 1.5 m for any camera? I’ll be using the BMPCC 4K and an Angénieux 15-150mm T3.1
what mattbox are you using?
Hey Duke, you wrote on the video yes but I don’t have 2 of 0.1 ?? And I really don’t understand what people talk about 67 or 71 . I’m confused. Could you please help ?
Thanks for this video. By any chance what were the number of shims for the 20-55 and bmpcc6k combination. I have the same set up but I just can’t make s1=s2. Thanks in advance!
@@dukepham my bad I’ll rewatch. Thank you!
That saved me time 😂😂
Panasonic 12-60mm f2.8 has Parfocal feature.
Hi - In my case it does not work - What could be the reason?
My kit came with these shims: 0.3, 0.1, 0.02(x2), 0.03(x2), 0.05 - totaling 0.55, am I missing some items? or do I have to buy additional pieces to reach 0.67? (BMPCC 6k Pro w/ 20-55mm kit)
did you have to buy additional shims? my set also is coming up short with the amount provided? Thanks in advance.
did you have to buy additional shims?
Super confused. I got it dialed in perfect on my 6k g2 then tested it on my 6k pro and it’s not the same. Do they have a different flange distance or am I missing something?
The park has the ND filter built in.
@@nicholasnohe2103 I thought the flange distance was the same exact distance away with or without the nd filters because apart from that it’s exactly the same. They both fit the exact same cages. So I guess they just made a slight adjustment on the internal component placement.
Anyone have a shim amount for the 14-30 on BMPCC6KPRO please?
Hi Duke, where on the body do you measure from (sensor plane)?
@@dukepham So where on the 6K body do you measure from?
Hey which screws go with the EF? The long ones or the short ones?
@@dukepham awesome thanks! Now I gotta worry about back focusing 😅
Are these shims supposed to come with the lens? If so, I didn't get them. I'm using the 20-70mm with a BlackMagic 4K. Once I get them, Is anyone using this same setup and do you know which rings I need (just to save the setup and test time)?
I don’t know if your version of lens is a parfocal lens. This video was made for the Pictor Zoom FF lenses. Not sure about your 4/3 lens. You should contact DZOFILM.
how many shims did you use? if i have the same camera and the same lens...shouldnt it be the same?
@@dukepham Thanks, I had this question too. (I'm guessing even with the same camera and lens, there could be microscopic differences, but... probably not enough to matter.)
we can use the same shims for any camera or just for black magic.... let me know please I have 20-55 and Canon EOS R Camera
No it doesn’t apply for every camera because each camera has the distance between the back of the lens to the sensor. That’s why we have to measure for specific camera. Do this process on your R to get the accurate result
@@dukepham thank you.... appreciate if you know more information about what can I do for best result let me know please
@@kutico182 just simple follow my instruction of the process in the video and you can get the accurate parfocal feature on your setup. It’s very easy to do.
@@dukepham I did it work perfect thank you
@@kutico182 nice
does this apply to the bmpcc 4k/ DZO film 20-70??
The Linhlung 24-70 is a parfocal lens too so yes you can do the same for that lens on the BMPCC 4K.
They have the details in the manual of the lens as well dzofilm.oss-cn-shenzhen.aliyuncs.com/dzofilm/PDF/linglung.pdf?versionId=CAEQLBiBgIDj75mm.RciIGQ3OWVlNTExZWUyNDRmMGJiNDczN2NhODdiYzExNDY5
@@dukepham appreciate your time and reply, thx!
How much shims do you have exactly on the pocket 6k ?
@@dukepham yes sorry I See it thanks. Do you know if it will be the same on the 6k pro ? 🤔
@@dukepham one 0,8mm shim is the same line you put it inside right ?
@@StylesPtoK and Duke - I just set up my 6K Pro with these lenses. The 20-55mm uses .65 or .67 total shims (take your pick) and the 50-125mm uses .73 shims on my rig. Hope this saves you both some time in the future. Thanks for the video Duke!
@@TheTy thanks yes i Setup it with 0,76 too and it works 👌🏼
So for us 6K users 4 shims are the ideal right?
@@dukepham Top
My Pocket 6K with my 20-55 need only the base 0.5 shim to work as parfocal.
I suspect something wrong with my mount , I tried many combination but the 0.5 one (the base shim which was there already) is the one that worked.
Any idea how much our pocket 6K have such a huge varietion?
@@dukepham To be honest I need to actually test it thoroughly. In my eyes using a 7 inch monitor seems very accurate. Maybe is not. Although using 0.8 or 0.7 it didn't worked at all, like crazy variation
@@billzidis2656 I have the pocket 6k and mine was neither .8 or .7 or .5, it was .72; it seems not all 6k Sensors are placed exactly the same and it will effect the parfocal number on this lense
sony 70_200 GMII G MASTER SONY HAVE PARFOCAL
For bmpcc 4K do I follow the same steps in the video? Sorry I’m new LOL .
The accent
Is it bad?
I have a metabones m4/3 to pl mount speedbooster on a bmpcc 4k. Do I have to do the same.
