BMPCC 6K PRO - Low Light Test (Dzofilm Pictor Zoom 20-55)

- Just a quick test with my new Pictor Zoom 20-55 T2.8 lens.
All shots were shot on BMPCC6K PRO at 24fps full 6K resolution with 5:1 compression, lens wide open at T2.8 with no filtration.
Amazing lens!
This didn't feel like a test. This felt like a sample of a movie from Netflix or something. Man. Your work is inspiring!

Hey Bruno -- the colors here are beautiful. Did you use Lum / Sat curve to pin blacks to neutral? Id love a breakdown of the grade if you can. Really stands out. Beautiful

First off, awesome work. It looks extremely professional. But second, I'm very curious about this. I saw in the comments that you shot at ISO 3200 with no noise reduction. In my experience with the 6k Pro, it's usually difficult to get a clean 3200 at these exposure levels without denoising. Do you have any specific tips or techniques that you use? And was this exposed hot and then brought down in post?

i don't get why are people saying this, I never had problem.. this is shot ISO3200 and has not been at all denoised in post.. i just brought the shadows down with the curve.. nothing else..
@@brunopapic6295 agreed, never had problem, shot a whole feature at around 3200 iso, once you grade and have contrast it goes away. We exposed using the false color, trying to never let the shadows fall in the lowest range, clean noise for nearly everything, anything else, the tiniest bit of denoise, film grain, good to go

its all in camera man, if you can master the setting and light inside the camera you should be good..

I was wondering, is the DZOfilm pictor zoom 20-55 is an EF-Mount lens or did you have use an adapter?
its EF and PL, whatever you want.. they send you the adapters

Wonderful! Love the atmosphere and well graded. What ISO did you shoot on and did you use NR? As it is suppose to be a low light test it would be nice if you would share the video file. Because of the youtube compression.

This looks great and I love the grade. I'm in the lens market... long story short, I keep coming back to DZO. Have you tried the Vespid primes...? If so, I'm curious how you feel they compare to the Pictor Zooms. The Zooms would be a lot easier and I've seen some great stuff with them but your test film really got me interested in the zooms.
Vespid primes are great, but I haven't tried em out on bmpcc6k... just the alexa.

But I'm wondering, can you put it on gimball ? They seem super-heavy and big.
I did not even try hahah! I am sure they can go on a gimbal, but I have no patience for that.
Great work! I like the 4k a little better. The 6k seems a tad too sharp. It looks closer to a GH5, nice work though.
i think bmpcc was always on the soft side, but that's only considering rolloff.. obviously glass in front of it determines the sharpness haha.. and this dzo is quite soft and charachteristic.
Beware with 4k because this lenses does't work with speedboosters, i've just realized

Amazing images! Was it hard for you to keep the focus on subject with the relatively narrow focus range of f2.8? Seems like you try to keep the same distance most of the time so you don't have to do so much pulling right?
yes, it was quite tuff even tho i had the follow focus on the rig.. but since i had to operate everything by myself, i tried setting the focus and then keeping the same distance.. the rig setup i have is super heavy, so it is quite hard pulling focus without an AC.

ja sam solo radio grading u davinciju, i po svome sam si napravio za sebe kodakov 2383 emulziju.. jako puno ljudi pita za LUT pa pripremam da ga stavim u prodaju uskoro.
Juan Melara je izbacio svoj 2383 koji je moram priznat dosta točan pravom filmu.. mislim da daje powegrade besplatno, zaguglaj. Moj je malo drugačiji od Melarovog, po mojem gustu ali sličan dosta.

@@brunopapic6295 probao sam taj i super je, ali tvoj mi je bomba , skin tone je bas onakav kakav treba biti, sta onda prebacujes u gen4 ili radis u gen5. Kad bude gotovo javi, uzimam
@@SEKILEFPV ma moj radi na istom principu samo sta sam izmijenio d55/d65 apliciranje koje nema veze sa skin tonovima. imaj na umu da staklo s kojim snimaš isto igra veliki ulogu u “looku”.
masa ekipe brije da je LUT taj koji stvara “look” ali nije, sve je u kameri i svijetlu.
nećeš dobit nikad “film look” ako ne snimaš u kameri kako se film snimao.
ja gen 5 sve snimam.

ISO3200 on all shots except the first two.. no noise reduction in post.

ISO3200 was constant except the first two shots. no noise reduction added in post, just the color grading.

Hello my name is Fred Lane, I am one of your UA-cam subscribers. I am fairly new to filming and color grading. My camera is the 6k pro and I shoot in BRAW. My question is about the new color management in Resolve studio 17.4.2. What is the best settings for UA-cam that will get the job done. The DaVinci wide gamut makes my scenes dark for some reason. My computer is the 2020 27inch 5k iMac that I color calibrated using the X-rite color checker pro plus. Thank you 🙏🏾

I shoot BRAW gen5 I use the space color transform to flip it from raw gen 5 to rec.709
I exported it in ultra hd 4k preset settings from davinci, that's all.

Hey man wonderful edit, nice job. I was wondering if these lenses are indicated in a full frame scale or APS-C sensor size? so 20mm is real 20mm on a full frame or 20mm is around 30+ mm on a BMPCC6K sensor? I am used to full frame photo body's and now I have a 6K pro. Can you provide me some info with these lenses? I wanna buy the 14-30 IF and only IF its cropping in on a 6K PRO (so it will be like 21-46mm on a full frame size) , but if its indicated as an APSC size then its too wide for me. Then I need to go with the 20-55. Thanks. And Cheers.
DZO Pictor Zooms are for super 35 which pocket 6k pro is.
However, 20mm FF on a S35 is still a 20mm lens. It doesnt turn into a 28/35mm all od a sudden. Its still a 20mm lens with all of its characteristics. Your coverage is different, being the smaller sensor, but it’s still a 20mm.
@@brunopapic6295 Ofc. It will be a 20mm lens on any camera. Then I ask you this way. 20mm on a full frame produces a 95 degree angle of view. What angle of view does this DZO 20-55mm lens produces on a BMPCC 6K at 20mm?
The crop factor on a bmpcc6k pro is 1.558.
So a 20-55 lens will give approx the same FoV of a 30-85 lens on a FF.
@@mblais213 I am asking a particular lens type the DZOFilm 14-30. And I was wondering if this lens is for super 35 cams or full frame cams? Coz' the field of view is different on different cameras. so I was wonderng DZOFIlm 14-30 mm on a Pocket 6K gives you the same filed of view as a similar full frame 14-30mm lens on a full frame body? Or is it different?
@ it's a s35 lens. It doesn't cover the whole sensor on a FF. If I'm not mistaken it will begin to cover the whole sensor at approx 30-35mm with some distortion

@@brunopapic6295 yeah i peeped bro. Im getn the 20-55 today this creative in my city giving me a crazy deal. She only used it twice. I like the new 14 but i got the sigma 14 1.8 and i love that for wide. I think this one should be good enough🙏🏾🙏🏾

@@brunopapic6295 is there a benefit to shooting 3200 with 2 stops? Why not shoot 1250, which is native and wouldn’t need the use of ND’s? Just a question I dont mean it in a bad way
@@PainYT native is 400 and 3200.. after doing tests on the pocket 6k i realised that 3200 gives better image than 1250.. haven’t run those tests on 6k pro but i feel like it’s the same. i always shoot ISO native of its camera.
in this case, 400 was too low, and 3200 to high if i wanted to stay wide open, hence the nd2 stop.
