  • My issue with tap tempo delay pedals is a one that a lot of people may not consider when purchasing a delay pedal.
In this video we go over the benefits of tap tempo delay pedals, but also explain some applications where tap tempo isn't useful and where other pedals and delay pedal functions may be more helpful for you.

Thanks for watching guys! What's your favourite delay pedal?

The slapback mode turns the ratio knob into a time knob so u could adjust it actually

If you don't mind being digital a sort of multi fx is usually the best option

My Boss DD-8's strengths lie in its tap tempo, its looping function, its array of different "delay timbres" (analog, digital, shimmer, reverse, etc), and the fact that with an outboard footswitch, you can even control the tap tempo subdivisions (see Michael Banfield's demo). Twice the price of the used DD-3 that it replaced, but I get much more utility from a box the same size. Its main drawback is that without the footswitch, you have to do some complicated voodoo with the plugs to set the subdivisions. And slapback is possible but it doesn't seem to have been a design priority (the DD-3 is actually quite good at slapback).

I am on Dig V2 now for the midi capability. But to be fair, it was Keeley Halo that made me really into the dual delay action

A pimp named slapback. My issue has always been how 90% of delay pedals botch design by have tap tempo being locked behind "hold to activate" or multiple footswitch presses to activate. You can be a quarter of the way through a verse before getting your delay synced and saving the tempo is not a solution across multiple songs. Tap tempo should be always on and if anything hold to activate the delay for no longer than 1.5 sec. You dont even notice delay the first 1.5 sec of a phrase/part but the audience WILL notice if its off time for the tap dance you have to do to set it. Blows my mind why even have a footswitch if not for performing..

@@ChrisHarveyGuitar it’s good cause you can have your tap , and save presets using the tap but you can save a preset without using the tap , I have save some slap back delays and some delay that I control with the tap, love it

a whole video because you bought the only delay pedal that doesn't have a time knob

  • @trustyseacreaturesmusic7873

I’m a big fan of the Ibanez Echo Shifter 3. Great controls, and a wide variety of sound options. Digital and analog, as well as mod controls. I highly recommend that pedal. It’s a permanent fixture on my board.

Does the solo at the beginning have a name or is it something you ripped off
