  • When I was a 17, I bought a delay pedal but had no idea how to use it. Being that it was pre-internet, there was no easy to access resources for info on how to use it. This video addresses this, and within it, I share some fun delay tricks using a non-tap tempo delay, including how to get a legit Rockabilly sound versus a country slap-back sound, and how to set a great general-purpose delay that will fatten your sound, and not get in the way of your playing. I also go into some dotted eighth note tricks as used by Albert Lee and John Jorgenson, and some longer delay settings with more repeats that can help you fill-out your sound when playing on a ballad.

Very helpful as trying to dial in my way huge Supa puss has been a little challenging due to so many options. Also wanted to say thanks for the bender video. Was able to drive down from Glasgow, KY, meet Joe glaser and get a same day install. Couldn't believe how friendly everyone was for a noname like myself. Thanks for putting their link in your comment section.

    Thank you very much Zac!
With the H2O you have a universal and simple helper on the board that brings exactly the delays that you need in practice. In the meantime, this short delay has become very popular again. In terms of sound, the device is related to the Yamaha E1005, which also had a very good analog sound quality, which is why Truetone has provided a good replacement here.

Uh oh.... Seems I have to have one of these also. And a string of One Stop's. You're great at this job, entertaining and knowledgeable of rigs and gear. Bob made an excellent choice by placing you here. Folks get their musical needs met, and meeting great Artists as well.

What an awesome video! I too came across my first box of used pedals in the 1990s. Still struggling to get the most out of delay!

Awesome playing and tips Zac! I haven't had a delay pedal for quite some time but it'd be nice to get one again. I really liked the slap back type sounds you were getting here.

Excellent video and information,I hadn't twigged just how much the level control affects the sound and feel until now, thank you 👍I have the H2o, Route 66 and XO,all V3 and recently acquired,so I'm loving Truetone right now⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️so many great sounding, tweakable tones out of each pedal, ingenious and practical connectivity, two pedals from one 9v power supply is an easy to overlook bonus. However, I have a hard time finding a good tone on the Drive 2 side of the XO,and I'd prefer the H2o chorus with bass attenuation of some kind, instead of the detune function.Special mention goes to Drive 1 on the XO,and the Route 66 compressor.Great work all round, kind regards and stay well in these remarkable times, hello from Burntisland in Fife,Scotland 😎 Al

Great demo of how to use that digital delay. I have a version 1.0 H2O - has the echo circuit changed much? (My impression is that the chorus side has changed.)
