- Today we visit a classic car show in our families Austin A70 Hereford. We prepared the old car the day before and then made the short drive to the classic car show in Bredgar village near our home for the October 2022 meeting.
The show is being held at Bredgar And Wormshill Light Railway bwlr.co.uk/ and it is a fantastic location for an old and classic car show. Check the website for full details but the car show has been held on the 3rd Sunday of each month in 2022 but times or dates may change in the future.
The trip in the Austin A70 Hereford was easy enough once we got used to where the gears are. The car has a column gear change and we found reverse and second gear to be very close to each other. The gearbox was very easy to use once we overcame the position of second and using all 4 gear was easy enough and the engine very flexible in all gears.
The cars on show at the event ranged over many years from a recent 911 to the 1950's. There was a great selection of 60's and 70's cars and we feel that there was something for everyone. The entry fee was a voluntary donation to keep the railway running and we were free to park where we wanted and to leave whenever. There was a van selling tea, coffee and bacon rolls plus the full cafe with its usual menu available. Anyone visiting was free to look around the cars if they wished and the whole meeting was very relaxed.

You can just say second, third fourth etc. We know what you mean
Thank you for your ever so valuable feedback.
I remember those column change gearboxes! 😊
It takes some getting used to
My father owned one many many years ago , i remember it being a very large size car with very good strong engine that pulled our caravan loaded up with everything for a two week of touring and six of us in the car . Haven’t seen one for years not even that shows so what a treat to see your video
Thank you, we enjoy taking the car out. There are a few around so hopefully you will see one close up soon!
Lovely
Many thanks!
Nice video but please stop the irritating music especially on road tests,in the museum it overpowered the commentary
Thank you, we enjoy trying new things when making these videos.
I have a feeling that there is ANOTHER George, because THAT has a GRG numberplate! If you watch - or get in touch with - ALEX, from his programmes , under ALL THINGS ALEX.
Thank you for a great day out i did own a A 40 my second car it needed a battery and front shocks and some tyers problem i had no money just got married i hope you got home safely loved your video thanks.
Thank you. We have owned an A40 too years ago.
Very nice drive home too.
Thanks for this interesting item , my older brother ran a £20 A70 hereford woodie circa 1964 , I dont remember seeing another one and have often wondered how many were made . I dont recall a coachbuilders badge so presumed it to be a factory body. Oh to see again some of the rarities that were then in use. Anyone remember seeing a Ford Anglia 105E estate in use around south Bristol in the seventies equipped with saloon type rear wings and those unique rear lights plus the most unusual curved tailgate ? I have known a few other special order fords and of course the Mk 2 Convertibles like those this one was adapted by Abbot of farnham . Best wishes Martin .
Thank you for commenting and sharing your memories. A woodie would be a rare find now and I look forward to seeing one someday.
To jillfriendship. I have seen pictures of an Anglia estate, with saloon type rear wings! I think it may have been a prototype. But the owners club would know!
This car looks splendid in black!
Thank you
Great video, love the Hereford!
Sounds like a nice quiet engine
It’s not bad for it’s age
Love the community feel of special interest groups…
It is a great place to meet
Looked like a great day. Great seeing the trains and traction engines as well.
Thank you, it was a great day and a great location for a car meet.
Is this car for sale
Great video
Thank you
Stunning car
Thank you 🙏
I thought I recognised this scenery! My grandparents were sheep farmers at Grove End Farm in Tunstall, I remember heading up to Bredgar quite regularly to get fuel in Grandad's old series 3 land rover! I learnt to drive at around the age of 10 in that series 3 bouncing around the fields and have been in to classic and vintage cars ever since. It's so great to see another young chap getting involved and learning on the job, sadly the industry is much less appealing to young people nowadays. Keep up the good work on the Austin 7, it's looking great! 👌
Thank you for sharing!
Looks like a great day out
It was a lovely day
I love the American car
