- Another good war movie, although the subject matter is pretty graphic so kids probably shouldnt watch this, still a great cast and directed by Brian DePalma. i dont get paid to do anything you see in my videos ......i just do this as a hobby ...........thanks for watching !!
I was only a kid when I saw this movie. My father was a veteran and didn't have a problem with me seeing violent war movies even as young as 5, but I think I was 10 when I saw this. At the time, it was just another Vietnam movie along with Platoon and Hamburger Hill, and some of the short lived tv series. It didn't have much of an impression on me, and I think I found it boring compared to others.
Then I saw this movie again about a year ago.
OMG, it is among the most horror and brutal movies I can remember. Not for gore, not for jump scares, or demons, or unstoppable killers, or any of that. The girl's family begging and pleading to let her go. The mother realizing they won't stop and then begging the soldiers to please take along something like her favorite stuffed animal, and they laugh in her face. It's not just 1 man that has become the most fearsome demon, and it isn't a horrible murderous dictator, and it's not a society from hunderds of years ago thinking nothing of enslaving what they felt were inferior subhumans. They all knew this was a just a young girl sleeping in a hut with her family, and they took her, raped her, and viciously killed her, thought nothing of it, and their leaders neither cared nor wanted anyone to. I find it far more frightening than any other movie in any recent memory
The actress's performance testifying is a amazing. Damn shame it got cut out, waste of a stellar performance

I agree. Fantastic scene and performance. I would re-edit it as the last testimony before the sentencing. A reminder who the real victim is, especially after Meserve's excuses.
Nah listening to that Vietcong spy was truly nauseating.

They should keep the Scene with the Sister.😞
I agree because I did some research on the true story and apparently the sister of the victim was present during the trial, so the scene basically was in a way historically accurate.
They should've kept the scene with the sister. It adds another layer to the ending at the tram

@@farifar6343 😢😢😢 I’m sure she was since she still lived with her family and traditional Vietnamese culture can be pretty conservative. I’d imagine she was if she was still unmarried. Even if she wasn’t a virgin, I think it hurt her a lot. Rapists don’t usually care about being gentle and not giving their victims internal injuries that hurt for the rest of their lives 😢 your empathy is refreshing. It was surely extremely painful.

mmm shame, some of these scenes would have added a lot to the movie
