Here's something I accidentally learned about Beak Blast by playing Random Battles on showdown, that nobody seems to know: if Toucannon is asleep, it can still heat up its beak, even if it doesn't wake up for the attack itself. So if the opponent is a physical attacker, Toucannon can burn it even if it's asleep. This niche interaction won me the game

something funny about trick room is that, instead of reversing speed or something like that, it makes speed 9999, then substracts the speed value. since no stat can go beyond 8000 (or something like that), it substract the result by 8000, which leads to normal numbers saying the slower pokemon is actually faster. with enough buffs, Regieleki can make the first reduction (9999 - Speed) be a legal number (under 8000), so trick room actually makes Regieleki even faster

9:13 Actually, it is used by a ton of other mons, it is a pretty strong move in gen 3.Risky? Yeah, but can be extremely useful for punish switchs/skarm dont attacking (the main reason why skarm even uses sometimes drill peak is for avoid being hit by a focus punch from a fighting type). I think that the only OU mon that can learn it and dont use it at least on one set its blissey (for obvious reason). It is even one of the main reasons for charizard being OU. 150 power sounds a lot scarier on a metagame were you are already so terrified by a 75 power move (rock slide), at the point that if you dont have a resist vs it, it is a bad team (in most cases)
Honestly, Wonder Room would be genuinely super interesting if instead of swapping Def and SpD it swapped Atk and SpA, that would make it a heavily disrupting move for the opponent and would also allow gimmicky strats where some Pokemon that have say a great Atk and low SpA but a great special movepool could momentarily use that great movepool as a surprise. imo mirror coat should be better than counter since it goes well with assault vest sets. AV is an easy way to patch up your spdef, something with no physdef counterpart, and also it counts as an attack so mons with limited coverage like araquanid and magnezone can slap it on happily
I am so confused by raid ngl I see so many UA-camrs get it (good for you get the bag king), but everyone in the comments seems to hate it But obviously raid must be making a profit when they sponsor videos right??
A lot of people dislike it for a handful of reasons. The largest three are thus: Raid insists that their sponsored ad be early in the video's runtime and take up at least a full minute; the game is a gacha game, which irritates a number of individuals (and can be illegal in certain countries due to gambling legislation); and the company goes incredibly hard when it comes to pushing their advertising, thus leading to some places/channels where an ad for their game makes less sense still having them. A side reason for me is that their more traditional ads also tend to be annoying when they come on, and others may not like that the company behind Raid has designated a character in their roster as a punching bag/scapegoat. The company can also be rather predatory on their monetization, but that's partially the gacha model in general. Regardless, most people don't mind the sponsored ad reads nearly as much when they're for products or games that are actively enjoyed or have practical use, like Opera (GX and regular), VPNs, Gamer Supps, etc. Raid tends to not fit the enjoyed or useful category, so that also tends to irk people.
I think Avalanche and Revenge should get the boost when hit by any Pokémon, not just the Pokémon at which it's directed to. Just for doubles of course, but I hate when I use Avalanche and my mon was hit that turn, but by a different opponent (even worse if it was redirected by follow me) It could even bring some funny combos such as using a spread move with a faster target (Surf, Earthquake, etc.) to purposely hit your partner. Although Thermal Exchange Baxcalibur + a faster Lava plume user sounds OP
I'm honestly not the biggest trick room fan, it only lasts a short amount of turns so it's sometimes able to be played around with moves like fake out and protect. Like I get the appeal of the move, but I feel it's usually best used spur of the moment or when your opponent doesn't expect it. There's nothing worse than using tailwind at the same time your enemy uses trick room. I am more of dragon tail enjoyer myself. Like on a Goodra or a Dipplin. Deals decent damage. Is able to break subs, incur Sealth rock or spikes damage. And it prevents them from setting up. People don't always expect Goodra to run dragon tail.
what do you guys think about wonder room to mess with iron defense zamazenta in the current vgc format? Like in a team weak to zamazenta idk I haven't played vgc in a year but maybe in a calyrex-ice trick room team or a terapagos team idk
It's way too niche to ever really see any use, plus there's better options to counter Zamazenta teams. Simply swapping their defense stats barely does anything, especially compared to the better options that are out there.
I figured. Well at least I can hope for a bossfight in a fangame where magic room is useful (I know at least 1 example where wonder room is useful in a fangame)

you know i really wish close combat didnt exist cause in gen 3 so many pokemon run focus punch its so skillful to use too you'd even see it with pokemon with no attack like gengar to beat an incoming pursuit tyranitar
WHY CANT THERE BE A WONDER ROOM FOR Atk & S. Atk????? Imagine the possibilities of like physical attackers being able to use special moves to a full effect! It could be so cool! Or like, a special wall like blissey being annihilated by something it would normally wall bc the effects are up!. TINKATON COULD ACTUALLY USE GIGATON HAMMER TO GOOD EFFECT! in short, wonder room, but attacking stats, plesae consider it Gamefreak.
The move might be broken on defensive Pokémon by forcing the attacker to use their weaker attacking stat. Take alakazam for example. Being forced to use the weaker stat nullifies it almost completely. Scizor, the lati twins, weavile, and many others become easily countered.
i will not take this Let's Go slander. there's a bunch of quality of life stuff from those games that makes the whole series better (namely: overworld wild pokemon)
I'd argue that Teleport is way more important than Trick Room. Trick Room needs the whole team to make it work (and even so, TR usually is not very viable in the first place), while Teleport is a move that is more independent, it can work on almost all archetypes, from Bulk Offense to [probably] Stall.
I mean, I think it's kind of an apples and oranges thing. All of that applies to singles. Trick room is way more viable in doubles. It doesn't work on every archetype, but every archetype has a trick room answer (which is sometimes to have your own trick room mon to reverse the trick room). It can also be a less all in, with hybrid teams with a TR mode and fast mode, or hyper offensive teams that start out with a fast attacker to punch holes in the opposing team, and then closing it out with a trick room sweeper in TR after the first one goes down. TR has also been meta relevant it VGC far more than teleport has in singles (although that's because teleport didn't really have negative priority in competitive until gen 8 and had it's distribution cut in gen 9). In the end, TR in VGC is a more consistent presence that doesn't reach the peak that teleport did in gen 8 ou. How you balance that for the tier list is up for debate
Pokemon is SO BAD BALANCING THEIR FUCKING GAME. Moves that make you go first? Extremely strong. Sure, earse any amount of skill needed to outspeed your opponent. Move that make you go last? Make them absolutely worthless instead of a high risk high reward mechanic. I fucking hate this game but there is no replacement.
Since when was there skill involved in outspeeding? It's literally just a numbers game. While negative priority moves are definitely more niche since the Pokemon using it usually has to be able to take a hit, moves like Trick Room, the buffed Teleport, and even phazing like Roar and Whirlwind have incredibly strong upsides that make the negative priority worth it
Goddamn a Raid sponsor over 2 mins long. Reminder pokemon is primarily aimed at kids; and Raid is a gatcha game; a predatory; exploitative GAMBLEING BASED game. Gambling and minors don't go together. Frankly advertising Raid on a pokemon video is advertising gambling to minors...

Why does throh have sleep powder???😂
Meant to have sleep talk shhhh🫣
WHY CANT THERE BE A WONDER ROOM FOR Atk & S. Atk?????
Imagine the possibilities of like physical attackers being able to use special moves to a full effect!
It could be so cool!
Or like, a special wall like blissey being annihilated by something it would normally wall bc the effects are up!.
TINKATON COULD ACTUALLY USE GIGATON HAMMER TO GOOD EFFECT!
in short, wonder room, but attacking stats, plesae consider it Gamefreak.
Gigaton Hammer's already a physical move and Tink's Attack is higher than its Special Attack...
The move might be broken on defensive Pokémon by forcing the attacker to use their weaker attacking stat. Take alakazam for example. Being forced to use the weaker stat nullifies it almost completely. Scizor, the lati twins, weavile, and many others become easily countered.
@@Thund3rDrag0n12 YOUR KIDDING I THOUGHT ITS S ATK WAS HIGH LIKE ITS S DEF I LOOKED IT UP THATS SO SAD
i will not take this Let's Go slander. there's a bunch of quality of life stuff from those games that makes the whole series better (namely: overworld wild pokemon)
Did that just say mr rhrexx??
What's the point of moves like roar in game? Not competitively, but in regular game
They still work in game to escape a wild battle. Also, in trainer battles it still works to force your opponent to switch out into a random mon.
@@MattBudYT i guess I can see it to escape a wild battle if you're outmatched and can't run, but personally I've never found them useful in game '^^
How could you not include Farigiraf as a trick room set up pokémon
I did, rewatch that part😅
What about the move healing wish

I don't care how fun the gatcha game is. I am not playing a game the asks me to gamble for characters.

There should be a counterpart to Trick Room that instead flips positive/negative priority moves/abilities.
While negative priority moves are definitely more niche since the Pokemon using it usually has to be able to take a hit, moves like Trick Room, the buffed Teleport, and even phazing like Roar and Whirlwind have incredibly strong upsides that make the negative priority worth it
I mean there are monster taming games out there if you look
Chilling Reception?
Not negative priority
Goddamn a Raid sponsor over 2 mins long. Reminder pokemon is primarily aimed at kids; and Raid is a gatcha game; a predatory; exploitative GAMBLEING BASED game. Gambling and minors don't go together. Frankly advertising Raid on a pokemon video is advertising gambling to minors...
Can you see japan from your high horse?
You sound like a disgruntled parent who was dumb enough to save their credit card info onto their kid's phone. Pokemon is enjoyed by all ages it's not that deep
