How to sew an angled junction - Upholstery tip

One of our upholstery students stopped a motorcycle seat project due to not understanding how to approach an angled sewing junction. In fact, once in a while we stumble on this kind of pointed junctions that makes us guess what to do. This video shows us one way to approach it. This technique can be done on vinyl or leather material. Two pieces are joined in an angled way with an oversewing on the upper piece. Another lateral piece is sewn crossing the junction. I have given a 10 mm seam allowance for the three pieces.

Lo más difícil para mí es cuando tengo que traducir todas las palabras de un vídeo una por una, es largo y no siempre puedo hacerlo, pero los vídeos están muy bien hechos así que no pasa nada, capto lo esencial.

Thank you Cesar. I had to do this exact same junction one time on BMW M3 sport seats, with 1/4 in foam backing. It was challenging to know how to manage the seam allowance at the point area. This was the most difficult thing I've ever sewn. It turned out good. You are the only instructor I've ever had. /John

No es muy común este tipo de cruce/unión, pero si se usa algunas veces. El problema aquí es que la primera sobrecostura y doblez es requerida hacia el interior.Hacia el exterior sería más simple. Este video muestra una porción derecha de la pieza entera que es para la cubierta de un asiento de motocicleta , diseño personal de nuestra alumna de tapicería la Sra Isabel de Francia.

Esa pluma/lapicero le llaman 'marcador plata para cuero'. Aquí en Mexico lo venden en las tiendas de artículos para fabricantes de zapato.

@@devonteturner5505 It is a standard feet for Pfaff 1245. I cut off one toe of the small foot to get a wider view.
