    ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
    A customer from the USA asked me if I could wrap in Alcantara a gauge bezel for his sports car. He also asked me to do 'French seams' all around on the outside close to the surrounding edge. That is why I have tried to find a way to approach this project by doing a mock-up in cardboard. Not similar to the original but an approximate replica in vinyl material.
    As the vinyl is thin I have added a kind of lining (celestra cloth) on its reverse side. I would use a thin 3mm foam backed for the Alcantara material. It is important the addition of this lining to make the French seams stand out, otherwise they would look too flat.
    I would follow the similar process to wrap his OEM bezel in Alcantara.
    In fact, it is not as easy a task as it seems at first sight. I have followed some methods taught in our courses and youtube videos to make it easy.
    The piece can also be wrapped in leather if a customer requests it. Traditional French seams, French seams with piping accent in the center, or in one plain piece with no sewings. It is a matter of personal taste.
    As soon as the OEM piece is here in Mexico, we will post several videos showing the process on how the piece would be wrapped in the Alcantara material.
    I hope you find some inspiration in this video!

    My dad owned his own upholstery shop for 30 years but sadly died in 2004. Watching your work brings fond memories of watching him bring raw materials into amazing and beautiful finished products. I dabble in it some, one of the reasons I've subscribed to your channel, but true artistry like yours and his is like watching magic. Thank you so much for these videos, they're not only wonderfully helpful but are a reminder of a much younger time in my life.

      This is a mock-up for a real gauge bezel that will fit onto a SLC sports car. The wrapping will be done in Alcantara material. Bezel and Alcantara are on its way down here to Mexico.

    Viendo lo que cuesta hacer una pequeña pieza como ésta, uno se imagina la cantidad de horas que tiene que costar tapizar en piel un interior completo de un coche 😵😵😵

    Ese pegamento que usa tiene resistencia a altas temperaturas como para pegar toldos o tablero ? De antemano gracias

    • @Cechaflo
      @Cechaflo  Рік тому +4

      En cada pais hay pegamentos parecidos pero de diferentes marcas. Aquí en Mexico, las temperaturas no son tan altas como en algunos Estados de USA.
      Usé dos pegamentos para esta muestra. El amarillo tradicional de tapicería (aplicable con brocha) y el pegamento de poliuretano activado con calor para pegar las uniones de la parte inferior (aplicado con brocha).
      ua-cam.com/video/o2xeezdF8Ss/v-deo.html
      ua-cam.com/video/TIKF6NvXHE4/v-deo.html
      Para techos y tableros si va usar pegamento amarillo tiene que ser el que está bien fluido (espreable) para aplicar con pistola.
      En USA la mayoría de tapiceros usan el Landau:www.dap.com/products-projects/product-categories/adhesives/contact-cement/landau-top-trim/ (espreable y aplicabel con brocha también)

    The french seam stitching doesn’t run true to the shape of the bezel. That would drive me nuts

    • @Cechaflo
      @Cechaflo  Рік тому +1

      That is the way the customer wants it. I wanted the french stitches running on the very edge. He wants plain french seams with no piping trim in the center. Alcantara material for the wrapping. The real bigger piece made out of fiberglass is on its way to my shop.
      The customer sent me a picture to have more idea about what he wants for his SLC sports car:

    Porque marca con pluma maestro,la pluma suelta la tinta con el pegamento y no le mancha la piel o el vinil?

    • @Cechaflo
      @Cechaflo  Рік тому +3

      Tiene mucha razón. Hay que tener mucho cuidado sobretodo si los materiales son claros. Marqué por el revés y traté de no asentar mucho la pluma.

    • @Cechaflo
      @Cechaflo  Рік тому +2

      It is not a tutorial. It is a rough sample in cardboard I made for a customer that merely shows how I would approach a real piece he wants me to wrap in Alcantara material.
