    -----------------------------
    After disassembling the office chair of this video, I found the bolsters and the other portions were refilled/foamed after joining/sewing down the pieces together. I mean the vinyl, foam and fabric backing were not attached in the traditional way. A bag system was used instead to make the cover.
    The deteriorated vinyl of the cover was almost thoroughly peeled off, appearing as if it was done in a combination of black vinyl and grey fabric.|
    They used zippers to open the mouths to push the padding/foam inside. In fact this is a fast way to refill the padding.
    I used hand sewing to close the opening instead. Not advisable because it takes too much time.
    To tackle the reupholstery project I used two methods to find out which one would be the best.
    My first way was with the seat cushion. I sew the pieces together as if I were sewing a regular foamed cover. It was really a tedious experience using my flat bed sewing machine. Not really an easy task.
    In the second way, for the backrest I tried to replicate the same way how the old cushions were upholstered. It came out much easier as you can see in the video. The issue arose at fitting time. It was really a frustrating episode because of using the same old foam as the customer requested. The outcome was full of wrinkles and loose bolster. I had to reinforce those old foams with pieces of harder foams to get a nicer fitting.
    In conclusion, to get a nice fitting/refilling for the bolsters and other pieces we should use a high density foam plus a softer foam or a layer of dacron batting over.
    A non-fraying and non-stretching fabric/thin canvas could be used for the backing on the reverse side of the cover. I think zippers are a good way to open and close the refilling mouths.
    Office chairs' upholstery is also part of our trade and a car upholsterer is also able to carry out.
    I hope you find this video useful and inspire yourself to make your own upholstery projects!

    Finally I found someone who works patiently and takes care of every detail, plus it's shown slowly step by step.

I watched a lot of your videos, I love that you are so perfectionist and your videos gave me the confidence to upholstered my office chair, I am pretty proud of what I did today, it took me all day to do the pattern and cut the fabric but I want to take my time and do it carefully like you. I would like to show you the result, it is really sad that we can't share on youtube

    And here I thought that the panels that held the foam in place had a zipper in it... 😅🤣😂

    WhAT do you do when there is mold on the foam and the tissu and cannot reuse the fabric to make the new one? Do you have a video showing the process?

    • @Cechaflo
      @Cechaflo  5 місяців тому +1

      If there is too much mould it is advisable to replace the foam piece for a new one. If there isn't, then it can be put under the sun rays and wind for a whole day and overnight until it dissipates.
      I have no related video.

    Dear Cechaflo happy new year.
    I have a question about your Pfaff 1245.
    There is another model Pfaff 1245 that is "thicker" than yours, I think it is a new model, which is white in color.
    Аre there any difference between the two sewing machines or are they the same

    • @Cechaflo
      @Cechaflo  5 місяців тому +1

      The Pfaff I use is an old version. Pfaff 1245-706
      The new version (white color) is bigger than the old models. The new model is just called Pfaff 1245.
      The maximum stitch length of the old version is 6 mm long. The max. stitch length of the new Pfaff is 8 mm long. The bobbin is larger. Jumbo bobbin for double capacity of thread.
