🌊 Tomorrow is my wife’s final day of work. Talking about retirement with Yumiko feels a little like a taboo subject. Maybe it’s a Japanese thing to remain quiet in the presence of evident blessing? That makes sense, though it’s a very different approach from the way I talk openly about absolutely everything, good and bad. One sign though that she is happy about the change is when I saw a brief smile on her face when she told me of an email suggesting a meeting for next week, in which her name wasn’t included on the list of people expected to attend.
