- The House of CHANEL has collaborated on one of the summer’s most-anticipated film, "Barbie", directed and written by Oscar nominee Greta Gerwig and produced by and starring Oscar nominee Margot Robbie, who is a House ambassador, as the global icon.
Five silhouettes will be seen on screen, made available by the House with the support of Virginie Viard. Oscar-winning costume designer and friend of the House, Jacqueline Durran, was given a selection of outfits from the Ready-to-Wear, COCO BEACH and COCO NEIGE collections. The five featured silhouettes were chosen to highlight the Barbie character as she moves through her journey in the film.
Breaking with convention, “Barbie” is an ambitious project, using humour and fantasy to tackle topical issues with irreverence and intelligence. The feature film is currently playing in cinemas.

Chanel really should rerelease these 1995 pieces, especially the chanel heart bag, those are really popular and worth a lot more now!! Honestly, releasing a lot 90s clothing could probably help introduce Chanel to a younger demographic because of this movie.

Also, that Chanel heart bag used to be $3000-$6000 pre owned 3 years ago but Farfetched literally inflated the price so it costs $20,000 now 😭😭😭

Whoever owns a chanel heart handbag already, they’d probably go up in value since the pink heart bag appeared in the Barbie movie. $20’000+ (including Hermès) for a handbag is crazy 😩

Claudia Schiffer was muse of Karl Lagerfeld and star of many Chanel shows for many years especially 90s. She was definetly real life Barbie for sure as well as a supermodel. The looks used in the film are so iconic I still remember those outfits and runway looks in my Marie Claire runway shows looklets that Marie Claire gave for free with the issue at the time. I was a child getting lost in those pages. I'm glad they are used in the film.

Virginie is wearing 24/7 black, you need at least a bit sense for bright colors to understand Barbie’s fashions! Karl would have rocked it and the heart shaped bag would be back in store already, but with the new one I have no hopes! Unfortunately!

Honestly, Chanel should not have been the only brand to be recognized in the Barbie movie. Yes, Chanel is a great house. But Barbie represents many girls, and Chanel clearly does not. 😠. It would have been cool to see other clothing brands/ designers in the movie.
