I really wants those amazing hats and dresses BACK!!!!!!!!!!!! Absolutely feminine and mysterious ..... so tired and bored from jeans and tshirt!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
That's very ironic...considering Mademoiselle Chanel's take on fashion was to move away from the feminine and towards easy to wear and comfortable. She'd significantly reduced the size and frill of the hat, shortened the hemline and streamlined the skirt and also started using jersey (the cloth), which was used only for men's underwear then, for women's outerwear.
Yes, but she still wanted clothing to be elegant, "luxury must be comfortable, otherwise it is not luxury"; she still wanted her clients to look beautiful and put together. T-Shirts and jeans, (unless properly styled) look lazy, and rather pathetic in my opinion. But I understand where you're coming from. I believe SANA means to say, there needs to be more thought and effort put into the average person's wardrobe these days. Chanel put in the effort to make her style comfortable AND elegant, whilst too many people today do not.
+Vintage Rose Absolutely agree with you. She wanted classic and elegant clean cut lines (not the in-your-face frills and flouncy of the time) without being mundane or pedestrian. Complicated thought and yet so simple. That's why I love Chanel! She even managed to make faux fashionable and elegant! With the faux pearls and the No. 5 I mean. I apologize for rambling on, but she's my greatest inspiration...as a woman.
Aura Rose Fitzgerald i dont think it showed that she was unoriginal but mimicked her idols and brought a light on modern women who loved. she was inspired by them, she didnt copy those exact looks but made them into her own style making them more chic and comfortable for an everyday woman instead of the elite. But i do agree with the casting everyone was casted perfectly except Coco herself, I guess no one can really portray her versatile personality perfectly. but miss knightly was also the face of chanel at the time i believe so its make sense for her to act her role
I love how Karl is able to give us a glimpse into this world as an interpretation but in a sense truthful. It helps and gives much astounding appreciation for Chanel.
My favorite of all of Karl's short films. It truly captures an era well. Keira Knightley is a great actress so that definitely helps. I could really believe this was shot back then.
i have to say that Lindsey Wixson as Lady Vanderbilt was the best part of this. i keep coming back to this video cause of how memorable she was. knightly was great too.
I bet those girls who laugh at her shop and call it tacky still was doing they same little boring job while CoCo continue to get rich with new ideals everyday ...that's just it people can bring you ideals if you listen closely everything was beautiful Karl Lagerfeld was born a genius.... Lov IT.
I recall seeing a photo of "The Kaiser" in black velvet lederhosen with gold piping. RIP dearest Karl, I always wore my fan boots with reverence for your devotion to the visionary Gabrielle.Your legacy will be eternal.
Next time I go shopping... Store Assistant: Is that all? Me: Yes, that will do. Store Assistant: Thank you. Your total will be $34.50. Me: Well, I will send my secretary tomorrow to pick them up with a credit card.
I love the clothing from this era. It is so much more romantic than women's clothing is today. There was more magic and mystery in the clothing then, with all the lace and ruffles.
@@iryna1722 That's not the point. The point is, people no longer try anymore. The average person has access to a plethora of affordable choices, but chooses to walk around in tees that lampshade over their cloth shorts. Most women don't even do anything with their hair anymore, it's all about keeping it straight, and absolutely no makeup. And my God, don't get me started on the despicable footwear and ugly bags.
I revisited this video and this time i enjoyed it more than ever. I just opened my boutique and i relate to every single thing happened here :) cute clients, picky ones, those who like unique stuff, those rude ones, clients who bring up designer name i dislike lol, celebs passing by.... This movie is very realistic beyond what i thought when i watched it years back :) wish me luck guys.
Vanderbilt had an intention to offend Chanel by sending the clothes to her secretary? sorry. I can't understand this moment of the movie. enlighten me.
I love this! No it's not the best acting or script but it gives us all a little glimpse into the world of Coco Chanel and for that I thank Karl Lagerfeld. It's easy to forget how Coco Chanel started out in light of the legacy she created.
@@fancybabygrande3327 The Vanderbilt family was, in that time, one of the richest families in the United States, and besides had contacts with the british aristocracy through marriages. I think that explains the surprise of Cocó Chanel and her friend.
Colchisgirl I think it’s fine. I don’t think any of us can do better than them. And this isn’t supposed to be a movie in the theaters, no need for professional actors. Chanel isn’t a entertainment company
Chanel isn't here to win Oscars, m'dear. It's a luxury brand; eye candy. The way to sell is to put the best bodies in front of us. Acting is second banana.
It was an imagined scene of a day in the life of running her shop. The casting was brilliant - what a treat to see Stella as a client . The dialogue was difficult as its set in 1913, people spoke very differently .
The English accents were all very modern, not of the time, I think. They would have been much more refined and 'plummy' back then. But there again, they were supposed to be speaking French, so maybe it doesn't matter...
The “unacceptable” frame of mind is still prevalent today. People have a hard time transitioning to changing styles, fashion and social behaviors. However, change has been and always will be the only constant.
i never loved the sound of heels and store bells so much
Because rhey want to be practical and. But i functional. But i agree we tired already of those jeans
I really wants those amazing hats and dresses BACK!!!!!!!!!!!! Absolutely feminine and mysterious ..... so tired and bored from jeans and tshirt!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Never forget chanel was a Nazi! She slept their way to the top. Her Nazi code name was wesrminter7124

I wish people really looked like that. It would make me so happy.

Aura Rose Fitzgerald I love Karl Lagerfeld for subtly slamming Coco Chanel.
Ya I agree! If only people still dressed that way.. So wonderfully elegant
Alexis Marie she was a bitchx and thats not a bad thing cause she got what she wanted and got shit done

Too bad the part of her being a Nazi supporter and sympathizer, not to mention she hated homesexuals was left out.
My favorite of all of Karl's short films. It truly captures an era well. Keira Knightley is a great actress so that definitely helps. I could really believe this was shot back then.
I cried. The pure-energy coco had was amazing. She was inspired by daredevils and made everything they did normal. I love her so much
Over the last few years, I always find myself returning to this film. It’s just so breathtaking and blissful. Simply stunning🖤
I wish Karl would've made a feature-length film about Coco... Such beautiful imagery! Karl was extraordinary
Me too. Especially the part where she was a huge homophobe and what he thought about that.
OMG, beautiful people, beautiful clothes, everything is beautiful, who can resist Chanel???

why this beautiful world became T-shirt and jeans... so sad. it's absurd
