2007/2008 tour was a warm up lap, this tour is the real deal! As a life long fan of all incarnations of Van Halen and having seen them many times back including 80-84, I am so happy they've got this show on the road again! Look at all of the old footage of Van Halen back in the day, he is the same dude, just a little worn for the wear.
Your observation is correct too, but what got his blood boiling was the amount of time it took to address the sound issues DLR was having. Thanks for the comments, and glad you enjoyed the video!!
Been a fan since they played friends backyards back in the mid 70's. David Lee Roth's vocals are shot. Plain and simple. The recent show at the MGM was a sad reminder of this. The other members sounded great. But Michael Anthony's vocals are sadly missed.Let this be the last tour. And i am not happy having to say it. Thanks for all the earlier memories guys.
Thanks, it's simply amazing. I haven't plugged it in but I did play the intro to eruption on it. I'm blown away how well it plays. I've never seen a guitar with action like this thing has.
Thank You...you right I'm cool...Wow you right again a lot of people wish to be cool as me... but you know what... sometimes you can't have everything you wish for....
If it had been coordinated, it would have been even better. I was fortunate enough to make contact with several people on an Internet forum and on UA-cam after the show had taken place to inquire about creating a multi-cam. I recorded the audio and some of the video.and wanted to explore ways of making it better once i saw my results of marrying the two together. I got lucky meeting some very cool people who had great seats, and shot half of the show.Makes for a decent viewing and great memento
You are welcome! I have a better version now (a few more cams were added) which i will post in the future as one single concert file. One additional camera angle of the show surfaced recently and I'm waiting to see if it can be added to this edit. I hope for your sake the come to the UK as they are at the top of their game right now and are not to be missed!
Van Halen and iamthepapa kicked ass in Pittsburgh...You can't compare one singer that there is nothing else recent to compare to. Van Halen gave me my $1200.00 bang for the buck
Correct. If you watch back, you will see DLR from the very beginning in Unchained, ask for more volume for his vocals. Twice. Then the beginning of RWTD, asking for more volume. Two or three times. Then with She's the Woman, asking for more volume, and asking for a monitor to be moved up front. While observing the tech "finish" the job, and the monitor still far away from the stage, DLR blew up. He wasn't just being an A-hole for no reason. The sound crew created the situation.
It look like Alax Van Halen is using a larger 24 to maybe 26 inch base drum set up. It gives that added power. I normally use a 22 inch bass and been playing drums since 1960. I like the sound of a bigger bass drum.
Glad you enjoyed. I miss Michael also. Dave was never the type of performer that re-created the recorded version in concert I think you are being a little harsh on Wolfie. He can sing, and does an admirable job with a number of their classic tunes. The only weakness i see in him is stage presence, and that will only grow over time. I've accepted that Mike is no longer in the band, but would love to see him join them on stage one day. Thanks for sharing your thoughts and opinions.
nothing wrong with a rich daddy or a little overweight, but what I tried to express is: when VH started in the 70ies they were hungry, they gave their lives for the band. this is something Wolfie has never felt, and it shows, IMHO. as a person and musician he's got to find his own way, earn his own scratches and scars. on the other hand, it's not really his fault - who on earth wouldn't grab the opportunity to tour with VH?! ;-D
Any chance of getting a video of just Tattoo? I bought the guitar Eddie is playing in that song over the weekend on his Ebay site. I wanted to share the video with some friends. Thanks!!
Great video I find interesting the comparisons between Sam and Dave will being a diplomat they are both damn good at what they do, Dave cannot sing like Sammy but Dave brings Ed out to the front as main theme much like a good book, Van Halen was based on Eddie, the Hagar years musically were stronger but Ed played as a collective group, his guitar sound more in the fabric then standing out, when people go see Van Halen it is to hear Ed
You're right, it wouldn't matter at all. And I also like both eras (although I prefer the Sammy era), I even like III, at least some of the songs on it. I guess, my comment was a little stupid...
Michael Anthony was a big part of their live shows. I miss his thumping add bass! No offence to the kid but M.A. is a bad was! His back up vocals were pretty damn good too! 1984 Was one of the best shows I've seen! Love some Eddie! One of the best ever!
Hey, I kind of liked III also LOL. I liked Sammy era but actually lost interest in the band after maybe the 3rd album with Sammy. Their music didn't move me anymore towards the end. Still like Sammy, even with him running his mouth. He's human, honest, direct, and wears his heart on his sleeve. His lyrics are iffy compared to Classic era, but his pipes are some of the best in Rock and Roll. For many of us, waiting 28 years for the new disc, it's so emotional that words can't fully describe
formula6t6 Sabastian Bach never sang with Van Halen , Dave, Ed, Alex and Wolf are lining their pockets because they have fans like me, they still sound great and are amazing. I guess the argument should be near an end...This shit is not baseball, football, or what ever your fantasy sport is... Van Halen is not changing soon unless there are a couple more barks on an album or Dave decides to bring his dogs on stage. Did anyone catch barking dogs on the album? Cool frosty! I love doggies.
I don't think that's going to happen. It would be nice to see them all kiss an make up, but this is the last incarnation of Van Halen we'll probably see.
Neither Sammy or Dave are gay, but if they were, would it really even matter? I couldn't care less. Both Sammy and Dave kick ass in my book. They brought different elements to the band. I personally prefer the classic era with DLR and their new album is a masterpiece.
This is a great show But Why do I have the Funny feeling that when the VH boys get board of playing the old stuff live. They will Dump DLR like a pair of Soiled Panties and Hook Back up with Sammy to tour with the Sammy stuff for a tour or two. anybody feel the same? You should already know Eddie has a Diabolical Mind.
@ darrennotw. Sam is VH did you say??!!! WTF?!!! I think you need a history lesson in rock n rock & that being Van Halen's history. David Lee Roth is the original & the best fronman for Van Halen. Sam was just a fill in. But everything is back as its meant to be Dave & Eddie are back which means the best 1-2 punch in rock n roll is back!!! Have a listen to VH's new masterpeice 'A Different Kind Of Truth'. If that doesn't make you want to turn it up full blast, then you just don't know VAN HALEN!
Sammy is VH,Dave is good to but nowhere is good as Sammy.Sam has abetter voice and stage presents. This is a disapointment for me to watch.Although Ed is right on and STILL the best there is.I sure do miss Michael Anthony.
lol, yeah :-) I mean, not that he EVER hit a note the right time (or pitch) on stage. but since the reunion he obviously tries to and still fails... additionally, his voice fails, and there's no Michael Anthony here, just a fat child of a millionaire on backing vocals (and bass). nothing there to cover it up, just a bad singer. dont get me wrong, thanks for sharing! I enjoy watching this, some great music and even some fun moments! :-)

Thanks. Nice comments and observation. I think I agree with all that you said.
THANK YOU very much for sharing. Simply awesome... magic captured!
the guitar and drums sound great Dave is good too, considering the 25 years gone these guys are better than most young guys today...
Peace be with you, and all that complain, THE BAND KICKED ASS THIS NiGHT. Thanks iamthepapa
Thanks. I'm working on the rest, so stay tuned. That's a great way of putting it. Some magic is captured here!

i love van halen i was at this concert i hope they tour after they play the steelers to a super bowl victory
how does anybody not like dlr hes the best nobodys better period.

Excellent work!

do you wanna realy feel people !!!.. came to CHILE!!!!
come to CHILE! it's the best place to ROCK&ROLL!!

Congrats on the EVH Art Series Charvel.. Your a lucky lucky man :)

DLR actually sounds a little better here than the othe post. Nice camera work.
Watch it a dozen times and you'll get used to it :-)
Great video I find interesting the comparisons between Sam and Dave will being a diplomat they are both damn good at what they do, Dave cannot sing like Sammy but Dave brings Ed out to the front as main theme much like a good book, Van Halen was based on Eddie, the Hagar years musically were stronger but Ed played as a collective group, his guitar sound more in the fabric then standing out, when people go see Van Halen it is to hear Ed
DLR sounds rough, but Eddie is spot on.
You're right, it wouldn't matter at all. And I also like both eras (although I prefer the Sammy era), I even like III, at least some of the songs on it.
I guess, my comment was a little stupid...
i was there that night thats exactly what happened and he also needed more volume
you have a right to express your opinion but alot of people dont have a problem with it either including myself i think hes awesome live
Haha the old stuff? They just came out with a new album!! But I do see your point.
Michael Anthony was a big part of their live shows. I miss his thumping add bass! No offence to the kid but M.A. is a bad was! His back up vocals were pretty damn good too! 1984 Was one of the best shows I've seen! Love some Eddie! One of the best ever!
24:36 is awesome
Sure. Give me a day or two, and I will upload Tattoo for you. Congrats on your purchase! Sounds very very cool
been nice if m.anthony was still with them,, to bad we gotta get old

Wolfgang is eating way too much Frito Lay. Where is Michael Anthony ?

...these people bought tickets...
The headset microphone was a shit......
People do?
Your screen name is Geddy2112 and you're calling DLR gay? ...and this is coming from the world's biggest RUSH fan.
I'm of the opinion,WHATEVER. David Lee Roth represents what VH was and is!! Sammy Hager was just a profitable mistake.
@ darrennotw. Sam is VH did you say??!!! WTF?!!! I think you need a history lesson in rock n rock & that being Van Halen's history. David Lee Roth is the original & the best fronman for Van Halen. Funny thing is: People call Sammy Hagar gay. But look at Dave in this video. Is there anything more gay???
That would be Dave Lee Roth, a man richer and more famous than you. :P
Sammy is VH,Dave is good to but nowhere is good as Sammy.Sam has abetter voice and stage presents. This is a disapointment for me to watch.Although Ed is right on and STILL the best there is.I sure do miss Michael Anthony.
DLR has lost his 'LIVE' voice though. No doubt.
interesting, thanks, I didnt notice :-) ok, not a-hole, or just a little bit ;-)
I just uploaded it for you. Enjoy ua-cam.com/video/GtKAd_MvdZoG/v-deo.htmltKAd_MvdZo
ummmmmm???? being a showman a great singer in a great band
THE LAST GOOD VAN HALEN RECORD WAS DAVID LEE ROTHS "DLR BAND "
this aint van halen
lol, yeah :-) I mean, not that he EVER hit a note the right time (or pitch) on stage. but since the reunion he obviously tries to and still fails... additionally, his voice fails, and there's no Michael Anthony here, just a fat child of a millionaire on backing vocals (and bass). nothing there to cover it up, just a bad singer.
dont get me wrong, thanks for sharing! I enjoy watching this, some great music and even some fun moments! :-)
Could David Lee Roth be any more awkward?
Dave is lining his pockets at the expense of ruining the VH legend! Sabastian Bach on vocals or Sammy. Sammy sounds bad as much as Dave sounds good.
wow...DLR looks like an old fart...Aging hurts
dave is late every few beats or bars, sometimes even every beat of a bar... damn, that's annoying...
Michael Anthony was a big part of their live shows. I miss his thumping add bass! No offence to the kid but M.A. is a bad was! His back up vocals were pretty damn good too! 1984 Was one of the best shows I've seen! Love some Eddie! One of the best ever!
