- NOTE: Yongnuo have released firmware update v1.02 since I edited this review, which offers small improvements including to the autofocus system (but it doesn't seem to engage in-camera corrections).

canon RF users are really STARVING
Canon will say this to camera owners of all brands:
"Did you guys never use first-party lenses?"
@@GungKrisna12 as a Brazilian Film Student i can tell Canon that first party lenses cost a year's salary over here.
@@mellin7049As Indonesian who retired from this field, secondhand lens is a must for starters 😅.
Thanks for the review Chris!
Yongnuo is producing amazing lenses for the price...Waiting for the E-mount version.
Very impressive optical performance at this price point. I'm well impressed.
Fantastic review. Really appreciate tongue in cheek humor regarding that useful remote 😀. Apart from that, a fan of the Yongnuo with excellent quality optics, especially in recent years.
Sigma’s 30mm f1.4 really needs a refresh and this would be a very enticing alternative if only it had built-in corrections.
Chris should retest those god awful sigmas.
Sigma can't be bothered, they swum in early money already.
Thanks for the video though I really wish to see a test on a higher MP camera (maybe the Fuji version) in the future.
That will definitely happen when the Sony-E drops 😁
Can’t wait for the Canon 35mm VCM review 🤞

Nice uncle frost
Impressive, might replace my Viltrox 33mm.
A question: Does Nikon allow to use APSC lenses in full frame mode? Or Canon do it maybe? Or it's only Sony that allow this?
I have need RF 85mm f 1.2
Seems like Yongnuo are starting to have their Samyang moment.
How much of a full frame sensor does it cover?
Same. Chris usually shows that for crop lenses. I wonder if he was asked specifically not to show that for this lens?
@@shaocaholica The Nikon Z FF bodies only allow for use in DX mode at least with native lenses
Ah bummer. Maybe just tape up the contacts so it doesn’t know a lens is attached.
Is it just me or are some of the images looking a bit brighter/washed out? (test chart at 1.4, long CA book page). The real-world photos do look good to me though, kinda reminds me of vintage lens without the tint.
hope they make a fuji version soon, 1/3 of old xf 35 1.4 price better af
2x the weight. Also for old xf35, just buy used
"For Future Updates" here we go again...
not a fan of free improvements... got it lol
@@johnnyisahermit less of a free improvements and more of a releasing a lens when you're not done with it yet
just finish the lens and THEN release it, no need for "we'll fix the barrel distortion later" type of thing we're getting now.
@@johnnyisahermit Let me know when you get yours dude
@@Ethefake It is not just that with third party lenses a camera firmware update can make them not work properly etc
@@johnnyisahermit Free improvements are good when it's to update perfectly adequate hardware that is limited by the software of its time. 'Free improvements' are not good when they are promises of late compensation used to justify putting out an incomplete product ahead of time. This issue is not limited to camera/lens companies.
2:32 if you are being held hostage blink twice!
Oh wait... You are never in camera 😅

Weird focal length, or Youngnuo is just being honest.
Where have you been so far? There are a lot of 33mm lenses out there. Canon ef-m 32mm, viltrox and tokina 33mm, Fuji 33mm and now this one
Wkwk why weird ? Where are you from ??
@@fangli ok, nota weid, incomon. Portugal.
The SIMS 😂
I don't like its bokeh
Reminds me of the ancient Canon 50 1.4 - not absolutely awful but a bit jumbled for sure
@@MWRtelevision I currently own a copy of this. The bokeh from this YN lens is significantly better than it. At wider apertures, some specular highlights around the edges even appear in a guitar pick shape, which personally does not look good to me. I'm not sure if this happens on just my copy or not though.
