I really don't understand how they keep releasing new camera bodies and still wish to live as the brand with "cute colors but terrible auto focus".
The a6000 vs xh2s autofocus test blew me away, the 10 year old camera kicked fuji's ass
@@anonymousl5150unfortunately when the Fuji misses it really misses. The hit rate is just so unreliable. Colors are some of the best but if it can't focus then what's the point?
@@anonymousl5150 yeah but only in autofocus
Yeah you can always correct colours in post but you can’t fix out of focus shots.
Fuji 's AF isn't the best but t's not horrible.
I don’t do any professional work and I am considering switching to another brand. The AF of my xh2s is horrendous. There’s NO WAY I would trust the camera for paid work.
I just switched to Sony A7IV after x-t20, x-t3, x-t4, x-h2s - great choice of lenses and really good performance. And Full Frame low light + crop in video when needed for reach.
I've been shooting video professionally for over a decade. I've never relied on AF. I only shoot mf cine lenses for client work. Even for dynamic sports. Learn your the limits of your camera but use AF as a last resort imo.
@@aurorahiraeth5896 my camera is always pushing the limits of unreliability, that’s where the limits are. I didn’t pay $2500 + AF lenses to shoot wildlife in manual focus. How about I switch brands and shoot in whatever mode the fuck I want and be done with Fuji?
Just for reference, I was just shooting photos of dogs in the park and the camera showed the green box on the head of the dog (that was stationary) and took the shot. When I inspected the photo the focus point was on the trash can behind the dog 🤷♂️ when I check the photo the camera tells me it focused on the head of the dog, which is blurry, and no, thats not because the shutter speed was low.
@@aurorahiraeth5896 good luck shooting talking head of yourself with manual focus on f 1.4 - I don’t get it- Autofocus is a feature of 2.5k camera and should just work, because you paid for it. Why the heck I have to use it in manual? This should be my choice for creative reasons not because I have to.
@@aurorahiraeth5896 this might be the dumbest response I have seen in a while.
Man , I am really sorry this happened to you. I really hope they fix this ASAP. We all need to make these videos .
Thank you for the kind words my man 🙏🙏
This is the public outburst I was hoping to happen. Fuji autofocus has been so trash and have went back in recent times. I hope they fix it before all their professional customers switch sides.
I sold my A6700 to buy a X-T5, I had no love for the sony and thought the Fuji would be more interesting and fun to use. What a mistake. The Sony may have been a bit dull, but at least it was reliable.
Yeah the AF on the a6700 is amazing but I heard they do overheat easily. How’s your experience with overheating?
@@adnan_velic I never had an issue, however i'm not a pro, just a hobbiest so i doubt that i ever did much to push it into overheating.
We all know the AF is not reliable and acceptable, just curious, why didn’t you switch to MF immediately as it seemed that your subject didn’t move a lot?
I only showed two easy scenarios the rest of the work was documentary spontaneous footage plus fast moving subjects.
Because he didnt bought 2000$ camera to rely on manual focus only, genius.
They know how bad they fucked up with fws. If they roll back to the first fw that was better than this shit, they would admit how bad their af is, so they would rather continue fooling their customers than admit they suck. At the end they will be swept by competition.
I shot Fuji from the X-T2 era to the X-T4, so around 2016-2022. I found only zone AF was reliable for moving subjects. If you’re doing portraits with relatively little movement, Fuji is a great system. But if you need great continuous AF, you’re better off with a different system. I still have a couple of Fujis that I keep for personal work, but not for paying gigs.
I feel your pain man. Former xt4 and Xh2s user here. Finally had enough of Fuji’s problems, sold all my gear and switched to the fx3. Best decision I ever made. If you’re a paid professional you need a professional tool for the job. Fuji just isn’t up to par for professional run and gun video. Fuji has a nice image, but at the end of the day if you’re getting paid you need reliable gear.
Yeah man I like the fx3 a lot it has great reliability all around. I’m going to see what the z6iii looks like when it gets released tomorrow. Looks like a killer camera.
@@adnan_velicz6iii looking real nice
I actually thought it was time to upgrade from my xt4. So glad I've held onto it for so long. And that new Nikon z6 is looking real good right now.
Man I was watching the z6iii launch and was thinking wow! This thing has everything! And it’s $2500 looking like an incredible camera .
@@adnan_velic Unfortunately a concern is that it doesn't allow backup for video (photos yes) But it might not be a concern for others. What good is backed-up video of erratic focus? (cmon fuji!)
@@ngonzale3 You can backup via a recorder like the Ninja. Watch Gerald Undone's video.
I understand you, my friend, I suffer with this camera myself. Such an autofocus quality is just a mockery of users!
Fujifilm - show respect to users! We paid you real money - give us a quality product!
I hope they fix this soon! It’s very hard for me to leave this system. I absolutely love the image quality of this camera.
I don't know if it helps but I submitted a complaint on their support site.
Oh wow thank you so much!!
@@adnan_velic I think if we all do it they may hopefully see it and fix it . I hope they fix it . If not I may sell my X-H2s and just keep the X-S20
@@TwoTimesRmedia crossing my fingers here 🤞🤞
Thanks for doing that. I've doing the same and EVERYBODY must. Its the only way to fix AF and sell my stuff to get Sony. I dont trust Blurryfilm anymore.
Have you tried this new firmware 6.01... I'm also disappointed with the autofocus on the xh2s, I was shooting in the theater last night and it was really bad. All the time focus was on shadows and pulsing, very bad 👎
I tried downloading the firmware through the x app and it kept giving me an error so I gave up.
Same thing is going on with my XH2. I've lost some really great interview footage because of it.....sigh....
I’m an Olympus guy and not a pro, but if I was a pro like you I wouldn’t hesitate and go to Sony. I don’t own anything from Sony but I know it’s the best autofocus in town stuff like this wouldn’t be an issue.
Yeah totally! The fx3 is really really tempting me right now!
Same, bro... same...
aaaand thats the reason I went with canon.. yess, not same specs but the autofocus is much much much better
in talking heads situations you can dial in a few settings to help - turn the sensitivity and AF speeds down in your AF-C modes, consider using the focus range limiter if you need to. try face detect on but eye tracking off. you don't need to have the blazing fast AF-C modes looking from minimum to infinity in a situation where someone is not moving.
Yeah I could do all of these things but the problem is still with firmware 6.0. I didn’t have to do any of these adjustments on firmware 1.0 it just worked great. Also for this particular shoot I went from interview to live action and there was just no time to make any adjustments like that when you’re running and gunning. My point here is that in 2024 a flagship body must be great and have good autofocus.
@@adnan_velic I don't have any of these issues with the new firmware, but generally having the Custom 1-6 settings plus the Q menu set-up so you can adjust to the conditions as they present is important. It's hard to know what exactly is going wrong because the sample clips are so short and zoomed in. if you're not shooting portraits but you're using face detect, i would flick the eye setting off as there's no reason you need to have this tracking exactly and the camera is likely looking for eyes rather than just faces.
As far as showing clients Flog2 footage, there's a color assist option in camera to show them what it looks like with color. Of course, nothing like a lut but I do like the fake colors it adds in. This can be permanently turned on.
@@Fujiboy.mp4 I do use that for monitoring my white balance and it helps me with exposure but showing them on a tiny screen like that doesn’t really work for me.
@@adnan_velic makes sense!
You are not alone, Fujifilm will fix this. meanwhile try using area focus and switch of face/eye detact. It has really woked for me. Just like single point focus in photography you manually select what you want in focus have the box there and it will be in focus.
That’s what I did during the shoot. Single point for the most part then added eye AF for the interview.
XD Fujifilm fixing their Af system for over a decade now. Good luck with waiting for it
I read on Fujirumors that probably on july comes an update to resolve the bugs they did with the 6.0 firmware. At least the issue is already on fujirumors, so, Fujimilm is aware of the shit. I hope so, i really love my XH2s for video and i dont use a lot of AF, but I understand that theres so much Angry fuji users thinking of going with other brands... The failure with the firmware is epic, so, the answer from Fujifilm must be also something really Strong; otherwise, im afraid they are gonna loose a lot of users around the world. Lets wait to july and see what happend. Good luck!
Keeping my fingers crossed for July 🤞🤞🤞
Terrible autofocus problem when recording with subject tracking. Easily misses out on the selected subject. We pay so much for a confused camera system. So unfortunate
I agree :(
You should check out the new firmware update (7.0), it feels like these issues are solved now
@@Mikeaguado heard about it today! I’m driving home now to get the camera updated lol!
Don't hold your breath... OK I'm not shooting video, but I've just been to my kid's sports day with my freshly updated X-H2 (so v5.0 on that camera). I didn't see any noticeable difference. The face/eye tracking is so ridiculously erratic. I had one burst of 11 shots where two were in focus. Yes...two. I was at a 3/4 angle to her in a running race (she's four, so we're not talking crazy pace here). XF-16-55 f2.8 at about 40mm f4. I was panning with her, and it nailed the first two, then the tracking jumped to something random (not even a face) in the background and also in the top right of the frame, and I just couldn't get it back.
What I don't understand is why, when I have the AF set to the smallest zone area in the middle of the frame, is it detecting and then jumping to things at the very extremities of the frame? I have the AF set to maximum speed tracking, minimum on the 'getting distracted' setting (can't remember what Fuji call it off the top of my head), and centre for 'zone area switching' so even if it's going to switch, it shouldn't until the other thing is in the centre of the frame.
Needless to say I think I'm done making excuses. I've got an OM-1.2 here too and it just does what you expect it to do. Your time is likely up Fujifilm.
I’ve used Fuji since the xt2 launch day and tbh Fuji has never been a great camera overall. The xh2s should be fantastic and the autofocus sucks. I have no confidence in Fuji going forward and will be leaving for another manufacturer this year. I’m so sick of Fuji and so excited to be leaving.
I’m with you if they don’t fix this!
Is it me or the FW 3.0 was the best? I had no issue with FW3.0.
That was a great reliable firmware
If you disable face eye detect, and just use the new wide touch tracking in video from firmware 6.00, it is more reliable.
Interesting….
2 questions:
1. Could you assign an autofocus limiter setting to a button, because that would probably help, as long as you can jump of it with the press of a button, without having to go into the menu?
2. I don't understand why can't you autofocus when the camera is on a gimbal? I own the Ronin SC and you can attach an electronic focus wheel on it, that allows me to focus while operating a gimbal. During a sunny day, you can close the aperure to f/8 or f/11 and just zone focus. So the subject ends up in focus 99% of the time.
All that being said, Fuji should do something about their AF issues. Either hire new engineers or buy a new AF patent. If this continues, they will be left waaaay behind.
Can’t you go back to the previous software? I am glad I have not done the update to the latest version yet.
I could but it
Also have a risk of damaging my camera if I don’t do it right
I have Fujifilm Xh2s and Xs20 and the same issues with the autofocus system .
Fujifilm, I think, will never fix this problem because people always buy they product.
Maybe Fujifilm fans must stop buying Fujifilm system, and then the company will wake up but will be late.
I think selling all my gears from the fujifilm system .
I don't trust Fujifilm company anymore......
It’s really sad but I feel like I’m heading that was too if they don’t fix this immediately!
The sad thing its they are increasing sales with the "nice color science and vintage camera" slogan. Check it out. But in the end, they gonna crash. For sure. It is not possible to maintain this autofocus over time. Thats how companies slowly start to disappear.
Never go into battle with new firmware
Learned this lesson the hard way… I’ve never had an issue with fuji all these years.
@adnan_velic total agree. Fujifilm firmware update = great in the past few years. HOWEVER, I am disappointing on my XT5, i dont mind the af is somehow bad, but PLEASE dont show me greenbox without CORRECT AF

I just sold my fuji xh2s because of similar things, it just cannot be trusted, i’ve had it freeze on me twice shooting photos at a weeding, ive had issues of it not writing to a card, ive had major autofocus issues with photo and video, and in video there is no way to map a button wich overwrites manual/auto focus and switches between them while recording, goodbye fuji, hello fx3

It’s in the video you will see the examples. I time stamped them 👍🏻

most robust non overheating camera i know is the gh6. i was using it in the mid noon singapore sun in the forest shooting from 4k60p to 4k120p. Camera was tricking hot to the touch cause of the sun, but zero overheating warning haha. only issue was the AF LOL. The new GH7 is going to be a treat!

@@adnan_velic Im back to 1.02 :)

Wow this is sad!!! I know how much you love Fuji
It's honestly wild that anyone would main Fuji X as their workhorse professional kit. You do a minute of research and if you aren't scared away, you're not paying attention as you read.
lol I use Fuji as my professional kit. The XH2s, XH2, and GFX100; and I’m doing fine. I do find it interesting that some people have been experiencing these problems in firmware 6.0. I haven’t experienced them, so it’s not everyone. But I hope Fuji does resolve the issue for whoever is experiencing it.
@@TheJ_G it is probably a combination of a new firmware, a specific camera/lens combo and specific settings.
I'm not sure, but it seems like he was using face detection in shots where there are multiple people present. I agree it shouldn't have happened, but it is what it is.
That's why I don't upgrade the firmware before other users test it first.
One possibility is also that there was something wrong with the lens firmware or the lens itself.
I for example updated my Viltrox 13mm with the latest firmware and during a shoot, the manual focus dial/ring on the lens stopped working. I tried a few things and nothing worked. The next day I tried to roll back the Viltrox firmware and suddenly it started working again. So you never know.
I do weddings photo and video with an XT3. If you know how to use your camera without relying on Autofocus, like in all of our DSLR days, you'll be fine. But I do understand that for people who want to rely on it for work. I recently used an FX3 for a video and I will say that autofocus was STICKY. The ease of use would make work smoother.
I’ve never had issues in the past with this camera. These issues started happening after the latest firmware. If this issue wasn’t so prevalent with many people I wouldn’t have even made this video. I’m not the only one. I’ve done shoots for large brands with this camera. The image quality is really excellent
Have you changed the settings to one eye and increased the tracking sensitivity. I have shot weddings on my XT5 Since the firmware update was dons No problem. But i'm not a video shooter. Lastly , when was the last time you cleaned your sensor.
I have done all of these things unfortunately still no luck here with the xh2s.
No. It is not working on XT5
Unfortunately, you need to change brand for work. Fuji is not listening to overwhelming feedback.
Bro, I left Fuji for Sony over 3 years ago because of this (and some other things). Their AF hasn't improved much I see.
@@stkuj it’s super annoying man!
That sounds pretty bad... Did the Update from yesterday do the trick?
If I’m solely a video shooter, will never consider Fujifilm… it’s a great for stills but I might consider old cameras for fun such as x-a7 , x-t200 or x-t30.
For video lumix is a great contender and has many stills features…. Sony is king for AF 😎
I feel Fujifilm needs to be taken to court. The camera has been proven to do decent on earlier firmwares. Qith each firmware the continuous auto focus got worse. I have already started a soft migration over to Sony as I plan to start Wedding photography. Hopefully it gets fixed via firmware or I will have to sell all my new Fujifilm gear.
Man I’m a professional stills and motion shooter, and I shoot great video with the X-H2S autofocus. It’s not perfect but it’s pretty damn good.
What firmware you on? The examples I show in my video have become common around the fuji community and a lot of other people are saying the same thing I’m saying. You’re the only comment I’ve seen so far saying the autofocus is damn good.
@@adnan_velic I'm on 6.01. Shot a commercial two weeks ago in some tough beach conditions and didn't have any hunting or pulsing. I have dialed in my AF settings though to act more like a manual pull. Strange. It's a great camera with limitations, but I would never say the AF sucks.

4:24 Considering those two issues popped up at the same time, it sounds like it might have just needed a hard reset. Regarding the ever-present possibility of a failure during a mission-critical shoot, I suppose the solution is to bring two camera bodies.
*EDIT:* It's been mentioned elsewhere that one of the downsides of frequent firmware feature-updates is the inevitable introduction of bugs.
Hard reset will not fix this AF issue or the overheating issue. The AF issue stems from firmware 6.0… I made a video about the 18-120 f4 right before the update to 6.0 and my AF was excellent. I need to understand how a hard reset will fix an overheating issue. The camera is rated at 40 degrees Celsius that’s 104 degrees Fahrenheit. I was recording in 85-90 degree weather. I have 6 years of experience using fujifilm cameras this is not my first rodeo.
In addition the AF issue was happening throughout the day the overheating issue happened once I went outside.
@@adnan_velic Anything with a CPU can overheat due to a runaway process or other buggy behavior. Also, a device can "think" it is overheating if it is getting improper readings from an onboard heat sensor.
Sorry this happened to you. I've been warning people for years never to install a software update ending in a zero (unless it's only for experimental purposes).
