Thank youuuuu. I’ve been coming back to your channel constantly looking for this video to drop. You’re the man!
We are growing at the same pace,
I started my UA-cam channel almost with you, I took help from your videos and bought ZVE10 back in 2021. After 3 years we almost have same number of subscribers 🥳
haha. that’s awesome
finally.. been waiting for a review.. thanks Mark!
Might have to pick this up for my FX30 for NYC vlogs.
Thanks for the comprehensive review, liking the “new”perspective w/ slat wall in the background. 👍🏽
Hey Mark, just wanted to thank you for all the info about the ZVE10. From camera settings to lenses to colour grading tutorials, you have been my one stop shop for it all! Just copped a used ZVE10 and couldn’t be happier! Side note: Congrats on 60K subs, you def deserve it 🎉!
That wireless device with the Yongnuo is so cool! I haven't seen that before!
I know, right??
best review ever.. nothign better when one is shopping for a new lens and finds exactly what's needed plus a comparison... 100%
It's been nice watching your videos. Good information.
Great review needed to this breakdown to decide. Thanks boss
I literally just got this lens for my birthday a week ago! I Love it! Buying an ND filter for it asap !!
No one was mentioning about the answer of "Is it any good" at the beginning of the video. Thanks about honesty
A good option to the Sony at a fraction of the price. Congrats on 60k!
Thanks!
That Yongnou is soon in my mailbox, thanx to this video!!😃
Thank's for this review ! And congrate for 60 k 👍
Thank you! 👍
I had this exact question man thank you for making this video
Great job on the video Mark! Thanks for making it. What a compelling little lens. Perhaps they will have a booth at NAB and I can check one out.
I had a Yongnuo nifty fifty with my ancient Canon years ago. Dirt cheap yet solid, sharp result. If they have something out for Sonys I'm buying!
got hooked on your channel, took the plunge and bought this today. cranem2 is having trouble with the viltrox 23f1.4 hopefully will be my new vlog/home video lens
Hands DOWN, for the money, the Yongnuo is the WIN. Great video by the way. Excellent side by side. I hope I can find one in europe. The Sony is very pricey here.
I just bought the yongnuo 16mm f1.8 . It's far better than my sigma 16mm f1.4. I don't know if it's just me but the yongnuo company is really doing a mind blowing job .
Better how?
yongnuo are doing great lenses these days
@MarkBennettCameraCrisis Very true Sir 💯
@m4rcin847 I personally prefer the image quality that the YN16mm f1.8 lens gives to the image quality of my sigma 16mm f1.4...
@@MrFaccts You already said that in the first comment. What exactly is better than Sigma? Sharpness? Colours? Imaginary things of Fuji users? Please, explain.
Wow! Quite an amazing lens. It seemed like the colours were slightly better outside on the Sony, but that may have been your timing when recording and me struggling to find any difference. Looked good! Good value! Glad you didn’t show us your shoes in some form of messy action shots.
🤣
Love me some Sony 11mm 1.8. It pretty much lives on one of my bodies...I mean...camera bodies.
😂
Thank you Mark
Hi Mark! Congrats for 60k subscribers! You deserve!! Have you tried this lens for astrophotography? I wish to know how it performs about coma and astigmatism. And how is the corner sharpness at F1.8? Sony 11mm performs great in coma and astigmatism, but it has so much barrel distortion, that the corner sharpness isn't perfect for astrophotography :(
Youngnou to the top of list. Thank you.
Just got my zv e 10. Been wanting this Sony lens...but now ..might need the Yongnuo instead. Thanks for the advice
Best lens comparison video ever seen. He shows everything down from the color to the focus to a review. Why is the sky not fame
Ten aften Video I'm definitely buying a lens now
Wow! Another really compelling budget friendly option! If I weren't on such a weight loss trip with my gear (for travel), I'd look at it more seriously.
Great review! A few thoughts: 260g vs 180g is a huge difference. I don't know anyone who'd prioritize material (it's not even about the build quality) over weight for a vlogging/run-and-gun lens. Btw, a suggestion: maybe it makes sense to show stabilization not just with a headshot, but also with a front walking shot. It comes down to how Sony stabilizes footage; it tries to track a familiar object (i.e., a human face) and stabilize around it. When there are no familiar objects ahead of you while you're walking straight forward, you'll see a lot of stabilization artifacts for different lenses. Based on my tests, Sony's 11mm f1.8 on ZV-E1 isn't a good choice, really. While it works for vlogging with dynamic stabilization, it is very jerky when you pan and film surroundings in general.
This is just what I need. Not too thrilled with my Rokinon 12mm F2.0. I'll be picking this up when I get ready for my next trip to Philly at the start of April and probably sell or trade in my Rokinon. Could even take over for my Sigma 16mm F1.4 I use for talking head if the results are that good
That looks pretty awesome! A lens with better build quality with comparable performance at a lower price is the right direction.
Thank you, I knew you will review it, Between this one and viltrox 13mm f1.4, which one you choose?
The focus pull thing seems great, how about a macro lense with that?
Beautiful! thanks for this comparison! you are always the best! I bought a Yungnuo 11mm for my Sony a6700, initially I planned to buy a Sony 11mm, but the price took its toll and I bought a lens from Yungnuo! Best regards from Russia.
Can I ask you how is going with this lens? Are you happy?
@@LORY0021 I am very pleased with this lens, quite sharp, silent, wide-angle, fast autofocus, very convenient aperture control ring, in combination with Sony a 6700 - this is a wonderful duet!
Very intrigued by Yongnou because of the price and features!
Waiting for this lens for the Fuji system
New subscriber. Thank you for the amazing video. What lens do you recommend for videos at the studio setting? I am just lost with so many options.
sigma 16mm f1.4
Hi, mark! Hope your family is doing good :)
Dude! Thanks so much for doing this comparison. I stumbled on the Yongnuo a few weeks ago and have been curious about it.
Question: these two great lenses aside, is the difference in aperture between the Viltrox 13mm f/1.4 and these 11mm with f/1.8 lenses something to seriously consider? Or are they so close that it really doesn't matter?
I wouldn’t base my decision on that extra third of light. I would focus more on the size and focal length you need - unless you’re shooting a lot on very dark conditions
This is nice! I have been wanting to buy the sony 11mm f1.8, but it is hard to justify the cost, given I would only use it once a year.
*I have the Sony 11 and with that crop in it doesn't really affect the crop but it's nice. The Color isn't too much off but it's Not bad even w/o color grading*
I have Yongnuo 16mm f1.8 and I really love this lens. It is so good for the price (I got mine for 180$ during a discount last year).
They will also announce f1.4 lens trio in this year as I know. If they will be as good as these lenses optically I think they will shake the market because their lenses are much cheaper than their competitors like Viltrox.
Hey Mark, Quick question? How come you haven't covered the Sony 35mm 1.8 OSS for the APS-System, I think you've only talked about the Full Frame version. Like with everyone buying Fujis I don't know why good compact lenses don't get enough love, it's half the Size of the 30mm Sigma, its native and has OSS. Also it being one of their older models there's a LOT in the used market.
Is this lens compatible with AF assist? I use it a lot 🙂Great video by the way!!
fully compatible
this sony lens is just perfect ugh
Hey Mark! Thank you for all of the great info in your videos. I just got the ZV-E10 based a lot on your info, thank you. I'm considering one of these 11mm F1.8 lenses. I shoot quite a few RV tour videos, what do you think of these lenses for that application?
if you shoot a lot at the wide end, I would get the Sony because it’s a better lens overall and will have better stabilization with the Sony bodies
@@MarkBennettCameraCrisis thank you!
@@MarkBennettCameraCrisis can I ask one more…..do you have any experience with the 10-20mm f4?
Also, I think I need a trip up your way for a beer!
yes - I reviewed it, it’s great, but the f4 is hard when the light isn’t good or of you want any background blur. The tamron 11-20 f2.8 is more versatile.
amazing
How is YongNuo 11mm F1.8 compared to TTArtisan 10mm F2 in terms of barrel distortion, wideness and picture quality? Is it worth the price difference? Thanks for the very informative and entertaining videos.
Do anyone know when it will be available in Poland?
Would you pick either of these over the Sigma 10-18 for the E10? I have the 18-50 currently and have been super pleased with it.
For general shooting, macro or travel I would use the sigma. And if you don’t have the need for 1.8 - there’s no reason at all
Great review!(: Question: I noticed you mentioned that the yongnuo has more natural vignette than the Sony, I assume due to the lens elements. But if you had them both on the full frame zv-e1 without any cropping or stabilization on, which would have a bigger unrecoverable hard vignette into the image caused by the lens housing/body? Thank you
the Sony 11 comes more of the full frame area by a bit.
When you say comes, do you mean cover? And if you meant cover, do you mean cover as in Sony 11 blocks more of the full frame area with black boarders or covers as in shows more image in the full frame area? (: thank you
the Sony 11 is closer to a full frame lens than the Yongnuo.
Thanks Mark, I just bought the ZV-E 10 'body only' after watching your videos. Now I have a dilemma! I was soon to buy the Sony but now this comes up! Its just for making videos in my small garage, but I may stick with the Sony as it seems to be a near 'perfect' lens. Great to see your videos, keep em coming 🙂
Yeah - can’t go wrong with the Sony
Looks great. If I din't already have the Sony I recon I would be considering it.
I had a bit of an eppisode though and bought all 3 of the Sony wide angles 😵💫I love the 10-20 for vlogging at events so you can zoom in on displays 😌
ha - bit of an episode!!
@@MarkBennettCameraCrisis You are in no position to judge 😇
I would go with the Sony because I agree with you on it being more reliable for autofocus
well, you would know!!
Great find! Thank you!
What I noticed in the side by side comparison, is that the Sony 11mm makes your head slightly wider than what it appears to be on the Yonguo. Which one is more accurate? It looks like the Yonguo 11mm is on my list.
Aside from that, I have been looking at cameras to upgrade/add to my kit. And I think the ZV-E1 has won the battle. I like the S5iix for its ability to record to an SSD and stuff. But, with the ZV-E1 I would be able to use the full frame Sony lenses I already have from my A7iv days. Thanks again for a great comparison.
I would say that the Sony is a bit more accurate because of that small barrel distortion at 1.8 on the yongnuo
@@MarkBennettCameraCrisis The $498 price for the Sony is pretty good on its own.
yes. I see they took $50 off right now!! must be my video 🤣🤣
When the ZVE10 and a6700 crops in when using Active stablisation for Video, do you know if there's still a full 4K read out from the sensor? I understand when non active stabilisation is turned off the 4K 24,25,30,60p video is a 6k downsample.
I hadn't heard any of this lens prior to looking for your Sony 11mm review. As of May 2024 it seems the Yongnuo 11 is hard to find. It's great to see third party lens performing so well on a budget.
It sells out a lot because they're a smaller company and it's hard to keep it in stock.
is there any noise on autofocusing during video usage? Using my RF16mm with a rode mic on top, you can hear the noise in the video.
plan to buy the viltrox pro 27mm f1.2 for my sony a6700. can you make a review?
Review coming in a couple of days
What cheap lens i can use with zve10 for a close ( keeping my face natural not wide) portrait video with a good blury background? just face and shoulders
sigma 30mm 1.4 if you have some room. if it’s a small space, sigma 16mm 1.4
Arh shame.. they dont sell this in the UK!? Or at least i cant find it anywhere
I love the video!!!! Thank you so much! So my question is...... I have the funds for The sony 11mm 1.8? Should I just go for the Sony one or the Yongnuo.? What's you're honest opinion.
If you have the budget - the Sony is the better buy because it will have better stabilization when used with the Sony bodies and the Sony lens is a little better overall. The Yongnuo is a great budget alternative.
@@MarkBennettCameraCrisis Thank you so much‼️ I bought the Sony 11mm f1.8 and it’s the best!
Omg! The 11mm was the next one I was gonna get!
the Sony is still the way to go I think if you have the budget. but the yongnuo is an amazing value
@@MarkBennettCameraCrisis I just got the Sony 35mm 1.8 OSS for $225 new - wanted the OSS for handheld b-roll videos over the Sigma 30mm.
I have the sigma 16mm as a webcam on my Sony a5100 for Zoom meetings.
For vlogging on a Crane M2S I was thinking the Sony 11mm, but that $500 is hard to save up - but $298 for a Yongnuo is an easier pill to swallow!
I also have the Sigma 56mm.
I would still love a nice stabilized Zoom lens like the Tamron 17-70. And then also an upgraded telephoto like the Sony 70-350.
I just want alllllll the lenses! lol
But yeah budget friendly is good since I only give myself $200-&300 play money a month :P
Hopefully they will be in stock soon. Says unavailable now. I need to spend more money I don’t have
What made you film in cine2 ? Just fun ?
it’s just a little easier to match my 10-bit cameras when I shoot the, in slog3. But HlG3 would have worked just fine
The sun is coming out... i know the feeling too hahah
I got this and the 85mm. Super sick, but I can't get them to connect to my Mac. Hopefully there are no updates that I'm missing.
make sure you use a high speed data transfer usbc cable
@@MarkBennettCameraCrisis I did but no dice. I'm guessing it's Apple's fault for updating MacOS every 15 seconds.
Is the Youngnuo also focus by wire?
yes
I'm looking for comparison between Yongnuo 11mm and Viltrox 13mm
not a bad idea
Surprisingly, the stabilization on the Yongnuo appeared better, at times. Its weight, or dog poop, was a factor?
😂😂dog poop for sure is always a factor
Bought this lens on this review. Trying to save some money over the Sony 11mm, but this lens will not keep focus. It sporadically works or doesn't work with no rhyme or reason. Other lenses work fine. I assume it's defective. Just bought a used Sony 11mm because of this. Really wanted this lens to work too considering the cost savings.
Sony for the win 🏆
Hmm, question is, if money were no object, on the ZV-E1, if you could only have one, would you get the: 1. Yongnuo 11, 2. Sony 11 or the FF 3. Samyang 18mm or 4. Viltrox 20mm (and a longer selfie stick 😂)? (I'm not including the excellent Viltrox 16mm f/1.8 here as I think it's too heavy to be a fair comparison)
Probably the Sony 11
@@MarkBennettCameraCrisis oh wow, that's a big endorsement! Would you pick this APS-C lens to use on Full Frame over any FF lens too? (for wide angle lightweight vlogging) Or is there any full frame lens that would sway you to give up your APS-C lens?
Just sounds strange the best choice lens for full frame is an APS-C one, for this use case anyway :)
the viltrox 20 is a good option too - but you need to extend that stick out. with the 11 and dynamic stab - you’re done. Sony lens, so y autofocus, tiny, lightweight, f1.8 - it’s probably he best vlogging lens for the zv-e1 if you like using dynamic stabilization
Sony seems so perfect and wider.. are you sure it’s 11mm ? Looks like 10!
Sony is Sony 💙
We know you like the Sony but you look more handsome with the Yongnuo HA
Colors of Sony is better and also sharpness
IMHO you cannot beath the sony. The lack of focus breathing is more than worth it for me. Even if it did focus breath the newer sony bodies can compensate for that in camera. Wheras the yongnuo in certain circumstances will just not work at all depending on how you plan to focus pull
Hey Mark, I am a 9:16 TikTok creator and I am struggling to get my ZVE10 dialed in. Could you possibly create a video on vertical vlogging and video creation? I would be forever grateful, and so would my neighbors as it would stop me from swearing at my ZVE10.
Sony does seem to cripple 3rd party lens stability a little.
yes - the Sonys stab works better with Sony lenses.
Yongnuo 11mm or viltrox 13mm
Basically, it's the same price for me in singapore/malaysia
that’s tough, but for vlogging the Yongnuo and for studio work I choose the viltrox
Omg. Just now ordered Sony 11 mm 😕
That’s still the best 11 - you don’t regret it
@@MarkBennettCameraCrisis Thank you. Keep posting accessories for zv e10. 💫 congrats for 60k.
My last younguno I got for my Nikon d3300 wouldn't focus.... It still doesn't.
The ones I’ve tested for mirrorless have been great
@@MarkBennettCameraCrisis I guess they've improved over the past 15 years 😅
Grabbed a 14-24 sigma 2.8 for just 850
nice!!
I don't need it but now I want it. Mark you suck, all you do is spend all my money 😂. Still appreciate you bruh 🤙🏽
Someone has to be like me!!
Yougnuo should really change their logo, its not attractive at all. Even a simple standard font is much better.
The Young Know a thing or 2 about good lenses...
Yongnuo customer service is very suspect. Good luck getting questions answered.
there are located in China, so there will be delays sometimes, by the reps I talk to have always been great.
Pay half the price means that I can buy a pair for use on two cameras. Sold.
LOL The Sony just doesnt breath ;) means it died ahaha :D
I did it all for the nookie 😂
After watching so many of your videos, I feel like I owe you money for helping me save so much. But I'm not gonna give you any. 😋😋
haha
If this guy goes bald and gets a lil older, he's gonna look like Kevin O'Leary
I’m have heard that before!!
Had to return the lens. The focus breathing is unbearable
14min video and no f/1.8 comparison? Showing only f/4 with that 'careful language' is just sketchy, the YN corners must be really bad (as reviewed elsewhere).
I used f1.8 a ton in the video. The vignetting and barrel distortion tests, every bit of video I shot was f1.8, the chromatic aberration and loca tests were at 1.8. And it was all listed on the screen. Also, the autofocus tests were all f1.8. I’m not sure what you were watching. I only showed an f4 once - and that was talking about sharpness. calling people sketchy is not cool. I don’t appreciate it one bit. I try to run a straightforward channel. No one pays me, I put the comparisons on the screen for you to see. I don’t care if you buy any of the lenses.
@@MarkBennettCameraCrisis Of course I mean sharpness, my bad for not saying that explicitly.
There is not a single closeup of wide open sharpness comparison of image close to corners - the thing photographers will want to see the most to asses whether or not to save money - except center closeup that happens to be better for YN and has a little practical impact in real life?
And while the images of the wall are at 1.8, they are 'low res looking embedded previews' and you don't zoom in?
Personally I'm not a sharpness fanatic and I happen to like as much as 3rd party lenses as possible, especially when the cheaper ones are good. And I went to this because I like and like to recommend the Sony 11/1.8, and really wanted the YN to be a good alternative, but it doesn't seem to be the case in this regard. And I went through the video twice trying to find out how it really performs on the sides/in corner wide open, the basic review thing, and it just feels to me like it's avoided almost deliberately.
I showed the minimum focus distance at 1.8 which went into great detail about the sharpness. I also did zoom in on the brick wall in the sharpness test. It was a full resolution photo from Lightroom. it looked low res because I zoomed in 400% to show the difference and then I showed the corners - also zoomed in. I’m not sure why you think I’m trying to do anything deliberately. I don’t care what people buy. I spent hours doing as many tests as I could to display the two lenses. I think that optically the Sony is pretty perfect and the Yongnuo is good for the money but at 1.8 there is more vignette and barrel distortion.
- Which was the conclusion.
