- A really enjoyable day on the water catching winter cod and pollack. The sun came out and the wind stopped blowing for the first time in months so I headed out to Beadnell for my first winter session of the year. Fishing lures and metals over the rough ground saw cod, coley and pollack to the kayak with the metals taking the majority of the fish. It was just. great to be out and catching on such a beautiful day.

It’s like finding something good on Netflix with 8 seasons to binge. Cracking channel. Notification bell is on.
Ha ha fantastic 🤣 Hopefully I’ll be getting out over west in the next ten days or so, in the meantime enjoy the binge!!!! 👍🎣
Anyone else spot that thing rise at 5:20 in the background?
I can’t see it? At 5:20? Maybe I need to wait until I get home and watch it on a bigger screen 👍
@@onthedropfishing its 4:56, to the left side, looks like a seal maybe
Hi Chris , can you do some blogs on just parking etc for fishing venues , like Beadnell and south east of Scotland . Would also like your method of using your fish finder etc, what to look for . Thanks John Lancs.
Hi mate, you can park right at the beach at Beadnell- there’s only one carpark so you can’t miss it. ST Abbs - park in the harbour and Craigleith you can park to the west at the ramp near the harbour. I’ll do a bit about the fish finder soon as I’ve just got a new one. Hope that helps 👍🎣
Always a pleasure to watch your videos Chris 🎣👍
Thanks very much Arnie, I’m glad you enjoyed it mate 👍🎣
Going up your away Friday and the weekend end hope whether good
It’s not looking good I’m afraid - 😳
Cheers Chris for the video!
Hope you're all well.
Thanks Glen I’m glad you enjoyed it, I’m very well mate, keeping one eye on the weather as always! 👍🎣
Nice to get out again this time of year, will try getting out on the charter boat on tuesday 🤞, nice new fish finder Chris thanks for showing it and for the video.👍👍👍🎣🎣🎣😅
It was such a lovely day as well Glen. It’s been absolutely ages since I was last on the water 👍🎣
Great to see you back out again. Fish didn't seem to want to play as usual. The new sounder looks the buisness. Tight lines Chris. Arthur.
Cheers mate, It was a tough one after all of the storms. Not a mad day on the water but enough to keep me busy 👍🎣
Nice to see you out and catching, lve not been able too get out
It’s been the worst year for the weather! It’s been awful since July! 🤣🎣
Hi Chris cracking content have you ever fished craster
That’s on my list to try thanks again keep it up
Thanks mate I’m glad you’re enjoying the content. Yes I’ve fished out of there a few times. If you have a look back at some my older vids there’s a few at Dunstanburgh and Craster. Great marks, you can launch from the harbour for a fiver. Tight lines 👍🎣
Hi chris come up to the forth at southqueensferry fish round the island 100ft to 140ft and under bridge we get nice cods in creels not far out
It’s been on my list for a while, What’s the launch like?
Hi Chris, you should be able to get your yak into the water from Hawes pier in south Queensferry or the little beach beside it more or less under the Forth bridge (rail)
Pier or beach under rail bridge
Thanks Andrew 👍🎣
Thanks @daviegilmour4593 👍🎣
Im liking that fish finder chris it looks excellent will have to get a good luck when i next see you
Yeah it’ll be great when I put a proper map on it Mark 👍🎣
@@onthedropfishing looks very detailed im impressed
Good to see you back out! Ive had some great sessions and memories made this year at Beadnell. Loads of porpoise and seals. Beautiful to see 😊
It's such a good venue - I think if you don't enjoy fishing Beadnell you won't enjoy fishing anywhere! It's good even on it's bad days 👍🎣
Hi Chris new to the channel mate just subscribed and really enjoying working my way through the videos, I’m wanting to get back out on my kayak as it’s been some time since I was last out up at Craster, I’m interested in how you transport and launch your kayak as they are big units and obviously I’m getting no younger additionally I have since changed my discovery for a VW campervan and don’t want to risk damaging it by trying to load it onto the poptop roof. Could you add some content as a guide for people regarding loading and launching please, keep up the good work cheers Andy from Durham.
Hey Andy mate thanks for the sub., they make roof racks specifically for pop tops. They are on tracks. I have one on my T5.1 and it’s great. I use a couple of drainpipes and slide my yak onto the roof from the side. When I’ve got the bigger supernova I load it from the back. I’ll try to film loading it and put it on the Facebook page next time I’m out. If I remember I’ll stick it in a UA-cam vid at some point as well. Tight lines mate 👍🎣
Glad you managed to get out and find a few fish, it's been such a poor late summer, I resent that my lure fishing had taken a hit. I'm thinking about getting the kayak out and some big baits as the water is as clear as mud round here 😢 needs must just to get some action.
Funnily enough I was just saying the same thing to my pal, might have to get the 4/0 Vikings and grippers out and do a bit of uptiding! It really has been rank for months hasn’t it! 🤣🎣
That looked like a tougher session, well done for persevering. Good to see those fish too. As I'm writing this, waiting for another storm to roll through! Seems relentless...can't last forever..can it? Best wishes, Kev
Yeah it was a bit of a grind but we got there in the end.
I’ve been saying this weather can’t last since July! 🤣 Honestly it’s been the worst I can remember! 👍🎣
hi! when are you going to fish again? i look every day if you have post something! i love your videos
Hi mate, it’s been a bit of a nightmare with the weather and work so far this year. Work eases off towards the back end of next week and then I’ll be watching the weather like a hawk! I’ll be out as soon as I can and hopefully that will be the season underway proper.
I’m glad you’re enjoying the content 👍🎣
😊watching your videos I decided to buy a GALAXY SUPERNOVA myself😇. I went out a few times last year but the weather doesn't allow it right now even in the north of DENMARK, Hirtshals, greetings from here!😄
Hopefully the weather will be good this year. It was very windy last towards the end of last year. Cut the season short for me. Here’s hoping you pull a few Danish cod and pollack up soon! 🤞🎣
❤ 🎣
Cheers pal, I’ll catch up with you later in the week. I’ve got that meeting tomorrow 👍👍👍
Thanks for another great video. Love watching these. I have a quick question if you don't mind, how have you mounted your go pro?. It seems there are a lot of home made/modified mounts being used, just wondered if that's what you have done, or have you found an easier option? Many Thanks. Look forward to the next video :)
Hi mate, I’m glad you’re enjoying the content. I use a railblaza camera boom. It works a treat. Not the cheapest option but the best I’ve used so far 👍🎣
great, thanks for the info. Sometimes you get what you pay for. Appreciate the response. Enjoy your next outing. 😊
Hi, lovely video as always. What type of sonar are you using, please?
Glad you enjoyed the vid, I’m using the Raymarine Dragonfy Pro 5 in this vid. It’ll be great when I get a proper map on it. Tight lines mate 👍🎣
Hi mate. Awesome videos i have watched nearly all of them. I have just got my first fishing kayak fully kitted out with all the gear. I have just come back from fraserburgh and the east coast of Scotland. How do you transport your kayak about?? Is it on the roof? Thanks again for the videos really enjoyable
Hi mate, that’s good going there must be over fifty vids up on the channel now! Yeah I transport my kayak on the roof rack of my transporter and before that on the car. I’m glad you’re enjoying the content, tight lines 👍🎣
@@onthedropfishing yea it's easy watching while I'm working. Thanks for getting back to me. Do you always go out alone or is there any clubs or anything I could join with like minded people ??
There’ll be a Facebook group of kayak anglers around your way I’m sure. It’s a good idea to go out with folk who know what they’re doing until you find your feet. 👍🎣
Hi Chris, i was looking to get a galaxy Sturgeon FX. did you ever use the Rudder System before upgrading to a motor and how did you rate it ? also iv tried your code for OTD5 but it isnt working. Great Videos , thanks
Hi mate, I’m glad you’re enjoying the content. I still use the rudder on the Sturgeon when I’ve got the motor in and I’ve never had any problems with it. They have a 10% sale on at the moment so I imagine that’s why they’ve taken the code off. Here’s hoping for some better weather this year!!! I can’t wait to get a few fish over the side. 👍🎣
Thanks for the response Chris, sorry i think i got confused and was meant to say the flapper system for peddling etc. how did you find this ? im thinking of getting a sturgeon FX but this will be my first Kayak and want to make sure i get it right haha. thanks again :)@@onthedropfishing
Yeah ive got two with the flipper drive the sturgeon and the wildcat and the only problem ive had is I snapped a pedal about 18 months ago. All good apart from that. No problems at all. 👍🎣@@GaryAllen-i3p
ok great iv been watching the your videos over the last couple of nights and love the content.im torn between the wildcat and the sturgeon. if you had to pick one what would you stick with ? thanks again
@@onthedropfishing
Chris, what do you prefer, Wildcat vs Sturgeon? I'm currently looking at a new kayak and can't decide. I'm Alnwick based so will be fishing up and down Amble through to Beadnell.
That’s a tough one Benny, they’d both be great for that. I find the wildcat easier to pedal but I use the sturgeon with the motor more often than not since I did my hamstring 🤣. I didn’t get much chance to use the wildcat last year as the weather was awful so I can’t comment on it’s longevity. However I’ve had the sturgeon three seasons now and it’s been great. I know that doesn’t really help! So gun at my head keep the wildcat or the sturgeon…..for now until there’s a motor for the wildcat I’d keep the sturgeon 👍🎣
@@onthedropfishing great reply mate. I'm swaying towards the Sturgeon. Hopefully see you on the water this summer. 👍🏼
See you out there mate 👍🎣
What happened to the lowrance?
It literally went pop!
