- Doubledeckeranton is 'Singledecker-anton' today, as he gets to drive a route, he has never driven, since learning it last December 2016!
The 'new and old' Enviro 200 buses/ Wright-bodied Hybrids/Dennis Darts line the bus route from Elephant and Castle!
A busy train line, behind his parked bus, are the only noises, emitting from an otherwise, quiet terminus, on a council estate! 👀👂
Anton discusses the good 👍 & not so good 👎 parts, of the diesel bus, as well as zero headway bars (headway between buses), on the route!

The doors are designed to delay when using that button to close as a safety feature so you can shut the doors behind when driver gets off without having to rush and risk falling.
Was an instance at a bus depot in Wigan where a driver had his head stuck in between the doors and died.
tomjsh ...wow...I didn't realise seine died! . ..it makes sense now! When I get out of some buses you have to be quick in closing the door behind!
@@DoubleDeckerAnton what if your at a busy area with like 15 passengers
Good morning @@DoubleDeckerAnton
@@DoubleDeckerAnton are you driving 521 ?
3:05 that's a safety feature, all Facelifted Enviro200's (and the MMC's) have that feature. Stops you getting hit by the door when you leave the bus.
I've got this feeling that this guy was 5 years old, fell in love with busses and always wanted to be a bus driver.
i sit and watch these while on layover currently have a optare solo
Daniel Venus ...thanks Dan....I last drove Solos at Centre bus Elland/Halifax and K-Line bus Honley/Huddersfield.
They were quick buses...!!!
DoubleDeckerAnton they are nippy shame the telematics dont let you put your foot down when no one is on lol
With your route training so long ago - well remembered on your first drive in service on the route !
I love that single decker bus sooooooooooooooooo much!!!!
You should make a 2nd account called SingledeckerAnton
The Jononator ....I should yes...lol 😂
@@DoubleDeckerAnton www.flickr.com/photos/swbuspics/45426635534/ This Is A Exeter Bus Maby You Should Drive Buses In Exeter They Are Good
@Nigel Port You get paid less :/
Hello double-decker Anton
Good morning@@DoubleDeckerAnton
Very informational and interesting video once again, Anton. Love em', keep them up! Wish you all the best :)
Minelogical RBLX ....thanks 👌👍
Good evening SingleDeckerAnton! 😂
I also like the windows at the back and yeah the E200 MMCs and 26/78/388 buses have them as well
The delay on closing the doors from the emergency buttons is for if you are closing the door and stepping off the platform so you do not become trapped.
I'm not a bus driver or nothing but really find ur videos interesting
great video again keep up the good work
Oye oye what a beauty of a bus, absolute beast!
Single deck buses in London like everywhere else have to be used on routes where low bridges forbid double deckers, one place is Vallance Road in Bethnal Green, famous for the Kray family with a 12 foot bridge under the East Anglia main railway line.
Congratulations on 2,001 subscribers!
Your driving the P5 route I love 😍 that route some much
I hope that there will be more of these buses
I like the street deck bus soooooooooooooooooooooooooo much!
Cool video dude
I like watching your vids
I asked the Same question about the doors closing so slowly. Apparently it's because a driver once got his head stuck in the doors because he never got out in time and the air pressure built up enough to choke him to death. It's a true story apparently....
Hi anton remember on friday i saw you on the 468 towards south croydon and we were talking
we have Enviro 200 MMCs in Nottingham as well
About Nottingham Buses We do indeed, however ours have the larger 6 cylinder engines in comparison to the 4 cylinder ones, like this one Anton drove 😉
About Nottingham Buses .....they are not my favourite bus! But it's variety I like!
And Southampton, we have some 400MMCs also
What do you think of those Metro newspaper boxes? Do you ever notice them getting in the way when a passenger has bags, large items, etc?
MrMaguire ...yes I've noticed that since they put them on a few months ago!
Nice video anton
Great video! I was wondering what that bump was it was actually the axle the wheel basically!
I love the MMC'S but I don't like the stop-start technology
Nice bus Anton!!!!!!
George in London ...thanks George 😀 👍
They are not the greatest bus to drive!
George in London I wait outside for my school bus and the R68 bus has in of them and I stand back because that is NOT my bus and it just stops it feels like the bus stopped it’s like the bus 285
Can't you then off the start stop
nice e200 mmc I love buses aswell
Your the best anton
Great vid Anton or shall I say singledeckeranton
the doors are a safety feature when the driver gets off so they don't need to exit quick and potentially hurt themselves. also prams and buggies should enter from the back doors.
If it’s just + or - on the headway then it’s low frequency route, you get the bars on high frequency route, at least that’s how my company runs them.
I’ve only just started driving this week, my first bus driving job, we have those buses too albeit the short wheelbase version and I agree, although they’re new they’re challenging to drive them smoothly!
Have you had a chance to drive an E400 City or MMC yet? I'm curious what you think about them in comparison to a regular E400/E400H, especially the bodywork, as I think they're a lot more rattly and cheaply made.
SINGLEDECKERANTON!
Blackpool Transport have a brand new enviro 400city mmc. It a lovely bus :)
Hey Anton, I'm the driver from earlier on, we spoke today in Victoria as you got off my bus, was nice meeting you after I've been watching your videos for a while
Jermel m ...hi Jermel....yes it was good to see you!
I look forward to seeing some of your videos in the future...!!!
63 and 78 bus are nice
Hi anton on my local medi bus route yesterday i went on a double decker i think there might have been a break down. I think my dad who drives that route did say there was a breakdown.
I drive the same model bus on the 394 and sometimes on the 309 in the East End, none of the drivers like them for same reasons you pointed out. They handle speeds humps and speed tables (the longer ones) and any other bumps, portholes terribly. They’re breaking system is poor as is the auto gearbox, it’s very difficult to slow down or pull away smoothly, the suspension is so soft they bounce a lot and as the wheelbase is short it’s like being on a seesaw when going larger speed humps. All this make its makes maintaining headway difficult as you end up driving slower.
But they are easier to kneel and deploy the access ramp compared to some older models; You should try driving an Optare!
Anyway nice video, wish I found it sooner as I only started on the job last November having just passed my PCV.
My Plaxton Premier was from London, it’s a great drive although the gearing isn’t great for driving from Scarborough to Hull as it’s hilly, and London isn’t that hilly, doing bus fam in a MAN next
gekkofrog92 ...i remember driving the steep hills of Huddersfield and Halifax....you need power in buses for those journeys....!!
Are there any hybrid buses in Scarborough/Hull..?
The only hybrid single deckers I saw is gal, which are 360&108
A lot of the time i get a B7RLE wright eclipse urban, i have only been on the E200MMC once before, what operator are you with
The door close delay is a safety feature
In case anyone was trying to got on or off
I don't even know
how long is the route? In SG, The shortest route (284) is only 1.7 long (slightly over 1 mile) and BCs do 30 trips in a 12h shift
It’s a 45 minute drive. I use this route everyday. Route P5 from between elephant and castle to patmore estate
I go on the 325,300,276 which is a arriva refurbished enviro 200 and it can be bumpy.
Oh wait 300 and 276 are go ahead enviro 200 oh my bad.
Rahan omsi 2 content and more ....the axle is 15cm narrower so passenger comfort is affected.
very good. some enviro200's have stop start technology
Channel 7 HD ...are they hybrids?
Mine didn't stop/start!
DoubleDeckerAnton it was the route P4 on an enviro200 mmc and they sounded diesel.
Hope you don't get a start stop bus if you garage ever they have some near me and most of the drivers hate them
DoubleDeckerAnton....where i live we have the 130 and the 464 as e200 mmcs which are start stop and the 2016 ones are not
If I were to compare the Enviro 200's and Enviro 500's in Auckland, I have a slight preference for 500's because the seats are more comfortable. Also, on the routes I catch, there's a bridge where in the evening peak, you can see all the motorway traffic for 2 motorways below you which is easier from the top deck of the 500 than from the 200 and other single deckers.
Today the brand new E200EV's come into service in Liverpool on routes 26 & 27. The exact bus what you are driving. They are the first to be bought outside f London.
Konrad Kasek the bus Anton is on isn't electric as he said in another comment his bus wasn't start stop!
I like Trains lol
Snuggy 61 ...I like trains too...but I've always been a busman 😁
How do you memorize the routes? Im about to become a bus driver myself and this is what concerns me the most haha
Hi Guy's my name is Mr C. T. Boxill-Harris I was wondering, why couldn't you find nice fresh shiny Leyland Titan B15s and Repaint them to a Grey Green Colour just like the original Scania Grey Green which were in the East London bus route's such as 24, 125, 167, 168, 298, 173, 179, 313 and also the bus route 103, if you guys would like to find about 13 Leyland Titan B15's, please could you Repaint them in the Exact Grey Green Bus Colour's for us because it would be a Very Very Very Very Very Very Interesting Buses to see them Repainted to a Grey Green Colour's and I'm a Big Fan of all of the Leyland Titan B15's
It's one of my ladies there's only two in the garage Antoni and when I do a 24 hour route that's a single decker I request that I have one are the other lol
Pardon myself in asking this, but what route was this on?
were you doing the route p5, also for the buggy and Wheelchair space is a bit small they need to make a Large space in the double decker and Single Decker
Yes he was
anton you should drive in exeter loads of people in exeter UK say thank you when getting on a bus
i wanted to ask you have you drived a coach bus ? and what you think is harder than the simple bus?
How long does it take to get to London?
I love the adl200mmcs and you will enjoy them
Yorkshire tiger has some adl200mmc and adl400city is also a new bus for London but Blackpool transport, arriva Wales, Uno., and some coach travel companies have the adl400city too but Blackpool was first to buy them outside of the London in 2016
Plus adl200/BYD is a good bus but Arriva Liverpool have got them too😀
At 3:00 I know why MMC builds do that! If a driver is terminating and there are no other drivers to take over, they desirably shut the doors. That couple of seconds is there because if the driver WANTS to shut the doors, he or she has plenty of time to exit the bus and not get stuck in the doors. 👍👌🙂
The e200mmcs up in Newcastle are amazing, they're better up here because once they get up to speed they go fine, I know some drivers up here like them much more than some others, think yourself lucky you don't have to drive the enviro 300s or wright streetlites 😂
I can't wait until the 360 gets electrics.
3:00 the doors take a few secs to close due to these being newer buses and anyone who closes them from that button, they thought about it, and they don't want anyone to get trapped so that is why
whats the 3 & 6 headway bars that you refer to Anton?
608dave1 ....they are for London buses only...it's the gap infront of my bus and the bus infront.
It measures the right gap to have an equal headway between buses.
Headway vary from 4 mins to 15 mins!
if u don't mind me asking how much can u make as a bus driver. im thinking of joining which company is the best to work for. thank you
They got buses like this in Auckland nz
Surprised they did not go for the Enviro200EV instead as it is a new fairly bus
Anton i always was curious, is it possible when you start a job as a bus driver to tell them you want to drive only singledecker?? Or you have to drive everything they want...Thnks!!
Oh can I answer this one you are expected as a bus driver to handle any bus they give you providing you have been type trained on it but mostly the difference I've noticed is frequencies
Is it Route P5 to Patmore Estate?
UK Railway and Road Transport ....I can't comment unfortunately....!!! Sorry!
👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽
UK Railway and Road Transport 5:00 P5 to Elephant & Castle
It's fine, don't worry! I saw the video where you said you're not allowed to say the Route etc :P
which video is that?
i think you should make a channel called single decker anton for your single decker videos

Dd are smoother that SD but, SD is lighter
wait is that the route 214 on a single decker at the background
214 doesn't go to battersea
Where were you when you filmed it
The doors "wait" so if the driver presses the "emergency" close button and leaves they won't get their arm squashed.
Is that an Enviro 200 MMC?
We have the enviro 200 mmc bigger than London's

How many years you been a bus driver mate ?
you should drive in exeter
#singledeckeranton
train and bus gamer 1979 ...lol 😂 maybe another driver driving single deckers could have that name on their channel! 👍
lol
Train smart one
And Enviro 400mmc
Can u drive ex first Gal Gemini 2 Dennis dart, gemini 1 e400 and e200
And on the buslines can fit 59 sitting and 29 standing.
It P5 to Dagenham...
Do you prefer driving Alexander Dennis or Volvo buses?
lucky bugger, getting to drive an ADL Enviro MMC 200
I Dublin we only have 1 or 0 routes single deckers
ahh the new enviro's
The reason they take ages to close the doors from the emergency button is so that the drivers cannot get trapped in the doors
SAFTEY FIRST
Oh dear Anton, as your bus was now dated in favour of electric or hybrid, and may not be cost effective for your operator to run, diesel was being outlawed, or will be, unsure about ULEZ and cars and buses, so a little confusing.
Go Ahead London?
hey DoubleDeckerAnton
exeter now has enviro200mmc one on route s and one on route r
Have you ever drove a articulated bus?
Anton i have a question for you
If you wanted to change company to lets say metroline or tower transit or something
Which would it be
Remember
Theres london sovereign
Just thought you should know that because the routes you drive dont encounter any london sovereigns
1:47 They’re acc Enviro 200 MMC lol
Its now singeldeckeranton
Low frequency route Anton. Don't run more than 2 mins early or you will have them calling you up on the radio!!
the king ...yes..it's nice to not have any headway bars!
Enviro 200mmc
DoubleDeckerAnton i guess your fame changed to SingleDeckerAnton 😂😂😂😂😂
Dusty Broadcast ...for a moment. ..😂
DoubleDeckerAnton hah
