Last week a lady hit the doors of my bus continuously with an umbrella handle as I was pulling away. The noise was so loud I stopped and let her on but I wasn't impressed as it caused me stress. I still have to deal with fares and four people wanted to pay for a 1.50 fare with 20 pound notes. People always complain about us and I am currently suspended because I had a meltdown as a passenger abused me and assaulted me. I have autism and even I get no respect. It annoys me because train drivers get paid three times as much and don't have to deal with what bus drivers have to deal with. Bus driving is not a good job.
I drive buses in Australia, if someone can't pay, or their card doesn't have enough credit I won't deny them a ride. This is purely because I believe you create your own trouble, if someone seems agitated it's not worth creating a scenario that could turn violent. It's easier to let them on, but in saying that, it does not take long to figure out the serial pests that constantly try and ride for free. In those instances I just won't let them on period eg. Refuse to open the doors...
DIONNE FRANCIS-BROWN ....yes DIONNE....I don't get too many kids on my bus in London.... But I remember school buses in Huddersfield were were a nightmare with some children misbehaving 😈...!!!
Bus drivers are miserable simply because passengers have no manners the majority anyway few and far between you get nice passengers. More time you say hello when they enter and they look at you weird!
choyce adrian ..yes adrian...I suppose passengers expect a driver to not be too friendly...!!! It's a demanding job so opening closing doors and checking your mirrors and gently braking acceleration and checking your time schedule takes up a lot of time and focus! 👍
I found it to be certain 'Routes' rather then the job itself. On one particular duty number I used to run an 05:35 service from hedge end to city. Same passengers daily. Whole bus was a social gathering rather then a bus route. We all knew eachother by name. Got out my cab, spoke to everyone as if I were their coach driver, I always had time for them. I didn't think of it as a bus route. Yet later on in exactly the same day on a busy council estate route I'd pick up unemployed scum who would get on with 20 kids and 10 prams swearing and spitting about jobcentre plus and how they cut their benefits this week, treat me like a piece of shit because they got benefit sanctioned, kick my cab door because I spotted an invalid ticket and the next day I'd be back on the merry morning bus route! It wasn't all bad!!!
Personally i treat the drivers how they treat me . If i say a greeting when i get on and the driver is polite i will say a thank you when i depart . If they look out the window and sour faced i will not greet them
i gotta say, I love your vids mate! I'm studying to becoming a bus driver next year, so these are great videos to watch. Buses look quite different to what I'm used to here. Hail from Northern country Finland!
MrZarewna ...yes...I'd like to know how the bus job is so different in Finland...(a country I've not visited but I love 'Kebu' your keyboardist/synthesiser on youtube). It's a great job....you get to travel all over the towns and cities and meet different people in the safety of your drivers cab where it's warm and dry! 😀
Well, only one company has double decker buses here in Finland(aka Onnibus, owner is a Scottish billionaire Brian Souter). Our buses are mostly Volvo and Scania made. When going the long-haul, companies use something like Volvo 9700. In local traffic buses are something like Kabus tc6a4 (kabus is a Finnish company). Differences are that we don't have safety doors(or whatever they are called) for drivers. Anybody can attack us and there's nothing we can do about it. I believe only Helsinki(capital city) buses have. All the buttons I've noticed British buses have are more simplified and easier to understand in Finnish buses. Also we still use cash and there is no end to it and I don't think there never will. We also have so many damn cards people can get discount from prices, It's unbelievable. I don't think that in side by side comparison they'd differ much, but just seeing in a video or elsewhere it's a whole new universe to understand. Also driving on the left lane goes over my head. I had never heard of Kebu before you mentioned it. I mostly listen to Heavy metal(Nightwish, Amorphis etc). Just out of curiosity, after Brexit referendum, did anything change or will it change any laws for bus drivers? Finland follows EU's strict laws of how long can one person drive per day and such. It is followed by digital tachograph.
As a bus driver I can tell you its because the job fucking sucks, it's stressful, destroys the body and mental health. Right now I'm at home because I can barely walk from my back pain. The job is taking shit from people most of the day. I'm on my way out of this job.
Hello Anton, Some remarkable headlines in the news in Holland today. The former secretary of state Mr. Teeven (Dutch Ministry of Justice) found a new job: bus driver! Many people were surprised. Most politicians get very well paid jobs when they leave the political arena. But Mr. Teeven follows his passion: he wants to be a bus driver. He passed all the examinations and is ready to start. Dutch bus companies are very happy to see the former Secretary of State in the uniform of a bus driver. There is a real shortage of bus drivers. They hope that more people will follow their hearts and become a bus driver. So if you bus drivers in England are so miserable: come to Holland. Bus life here is really wunderfull.
Johan Wagenaar ....thanks for letting me know Johan. ...I think it's super! I'm impressed! 👍 I do love and hate the job...but it's the best job I've ever done...even though the conditions are getting worse! Maybe a British MP can become a bus driver one day too! 😃👌
John Stokes If Boris drove a bus. I'd feel sorry for network rail and all the running train services. He'd hit so many low bridges with a bus train services would grind to a halt!
Some bus drivers are actually happy I remember once I got on the bus you was driving (didn't get on when you was moving 😂)and you seemed in a good mood
Hi Anton, as a fellow driver I appreciate your channel, thank you. I think that by 'standing in front of the yellow line' Vulture was referring to passengers standing in the cab/ front door area, obscuring our nearside view and mirror.
Hi I am a bus driver in Taunton, I have a £100 float, which was given to me by the company 10 years ago. I do not think that the company does this any more. And once I have pulled away from a bus stop or reversed off a bus stand I do not stop to let any one else on as it is dangerous and illegal.
Why are bus drivers so angry? Well thay have to work long hours thay have to drive through traffic thay have to deal with passengers please dont make there job worse yes throwing tickets out the windows are a common thing on our bus and people smoke at the back makes me so angry 😠😠😠😠😠😠😠😠😠😠😠😠😠
Best story i heard was one driver whom had one passenger that had a $50 note everyday and never paid a fare for about a fortnight, this driver got fed up and charged him 10 trips in one go and never saw the passenger again. Love the Videos driver from Sydney
In the summer of 2017, when I met Anton at the end of the line for the #12 Dulwich route that he was driving, he was not miserable at all. He was very nice and surprised that I was still on his bus.I was riding random buses all over London to the end of their routes for sightseeing purposes. Anton made sure that I got back to London by bus safely. We had a nice conversation and he spoke in an American English accent for me, and he told me a lot of funny stories. I shared with him my experiences on city buses in Chicago and Minneapolis. I am American.
The yellow line is also there so people don’t block the view of the mirror on the carb side, but I always talk to the drive on the buses where I live I know most of them know.
In new buses the nearside mirrors are positioned in a different way. Passengers mostly do not obstruct those mirrors. The problem now is the front door view.
I drive a school bus (route 656 to Emerson Park School) and the amount of bratty and immature kids that get on the bus just pushes me to the verge of shouting at them, have I told some off before? Yes (but I haven’t shouted at them yet)
Im a bus driver in Australia, I have a $80 float, I deal with fares all the time and its normal for people to pay using large notes in order to get away with not paying.. I still change it anyway, we have a good system dealing with fare evaders and it never causes conflict, I generally have no issues with fares
Davo ...hi davo.. thanks for the Info on Australian buses! I dealt with cash for over 10 years when I drove in Yorkshire and had a £7-10 float ($20). Passengers always used to give large notes so that they could get on the bus for free, but it didn't work with me! I knew every trick in the book!
No misery this morning on the 40 towards Aldwych. Great to have a cheery driver like yourself enjoying my race to get on board along Lordship Lane! Keep it up, boss!
I'm a bus driver in Barcelona and everything you explain happens exactly here: try to pay 2.20 € ticket with a € 50 note, music at full volume inside the bus, people banging on the bus door once closed and running... in recent years I have noticed that incivility has increased a lot and people drink alcohol in the bus, eat and leave everything dirty, cans rolling on the floor... Great channel ! 👍🏻
I get the same bus every morning and it's always the same Driver, on the X34 Frome to Chippenham. Probably one of the most patient, funny and polite drivers I have seen on a bus! Always having a laugh and talking with the passengers during the journey, etc. When it was his birthday one of the passengers even bought him a birthday cake!
LiftFan ...Yes it's nice to get to know your passengers and have a good rapport with them! Your driver sounds like he should be up for an award! Recommend him to the bus company for great customer service! 😊👍
Some other college students actually made a video commemorating him which was shared by the bus company, Faresaver: facebook.com/faresaver.co.uk/posts/1700421226654873
In London you need a zip or you can show them it is broken or they can decide (if you lost it and if you're not going to school) if they will let you on. You start paying when you're 16
I was a coach driver in NYC. Dealing with taxi drivers, double parked cars and angry people on a daily basis hardens your heart. I have learned to hate people and love animals more. If I saw a wounded human being and a wounded animal I will help the animal. What a pity.
...thanks Barry for life in NYC across the pond. It can harden your heart...but I try and keep smiling through the stressful confrontations that face me on a daily basis...!!! How many years did you coach driver for...?
I am a bus driver and I can tell you why we are so miserable. We work long hours for not great money. We get road rage, carved up, driven at. We get verbal abuse and I've even been spat at. We have to deal with horrible passengers that pay with £20 notes for a silly little fare. We have to deal with unruly kids. The management don't back us up and discipline us for the least little thing. Bus drivers also suffer health problems because of the job. This is just some of the reasons why we are so miserable. I hate the job and wish I could do something better.
Lol😂 i tried to give £20 note to a bus driver I'm new to going to buses on my own so I'm not really sure about bus etiquettes/rules The bus driver became sarcastic that I gave the bus driver a £20 note & said '£20?!?! I dont have change!' So i just walked out the bus but luckily my mate gave me a free bus ride Sorry I have £20 note lol I'm new to going to buses by myself plus many people are taking the bus by scanning their phones nowadays
alrite mate, im a driver down in Worthing [west sussex] for stagecoach. I get one or two trying to pay £2.90 fares with a £20 note but once you tell them they can use a contactless debit card they're usually pretty obliging. loving the vids mate and keep up the good work!
yh bUT 11-15 & 16+ can travel free so nobody has to pay, this is why I never understand why bus drivers don’t let people in skl uniform in the bus because it’s free anyway
I am a bus driver and have been for many years now. I carry a £20 float. I can tell you some reasons why bus drivers are miserable. We have to deal with rude and stupid car/van drivers. We have to deal with passengers that want to complain about us. We get sworn at. We often do 12 hour shifts, sometimes starting at 5am and finishing at 1am. The pay isn't that great. The bus industry has the highest number of sick days per year and it isn't too hard to see why. Being a bus driver is like being in combat mode. It is stressful and tiring. I hate the job and it isn't getting any easier out there. I really wished I had gone to University instead.
One of my family members is a bus driver for a company in Suffolk, the float he gets depends on the kind of route he is driving. When he drives an express bus he gets £15 but if he is driving a frequent stopper he gets £30
My biggest pet peve is when people think we know the schedule of every other bus in the next three counties and when they just blurt out some random adress or intersection a and ask what bus will take them there. I know say "Do you have a phone? "Yes" then look it up" people actually get pissed about that.
Hi Anton, great video as always. You can have a float with the company I drive for but it's not issued by them, you have to use your own money. You also have to declare how much you carry in case an inspector boards. Some drivers carry £50 (one driver I know carries £70 of his own money) and others carry nothing and issue a change voucher every time. On the one hand the company are saying you're not obligated to carry/give change but on the other they want to give 'great customer service'. Hopefully the move towards contactless in the next few years will do away with this issue. But that's a whole other topic of conversation.
David Williams ...yes David....Contactless will be all over the country in the next 5-10 years! It's the way things are heading to towards a cashless society! But I find it easier not carrying a bag of cash with me! 💱💰💶👍😊
Every passenger needs to watch your videos. As fellow bus driver here in the US, I can totally relate. I drive a route that is every 12 mins. People see the bus and try to run for it, some times dodging cars when crossing the street. Not having money or a ticket ready, etc. really chaps my hide😠. As mentioned people pounding on the door or even attempting to step in front of a moving bus. Sorry but you missing a bus ride is NOT worth your life or me losing my job cause you got dragged under the bus as I'm pulling away from the curb. I'm for customer service, but passenger and bus safety takes precedence. Just cause the bus is at the stop with doors shut does not mean you can board. The driver maybe looking in the mirrors so he/she may pull into traffic. For those passengers who do watch his videos, I would like you understand something. We try to maintain our headways (schedule). So when we wait for you and then later on you complain the bus is late don't complain to the driver. I would like passengers to understand we the driver's do not write the bus schedules we only try to follow the schedule and operate the bus in a safe manner. In short don't take it out on us.
At first Manchester where I work we are given a £50 float in our first weeks wage still annoys me when people get on for a £1.50 fare with a £20 note so they get a change voucher instead
DoubleDeckerAnton aye it certainly does, wish that we could get the exact fare only system that first Glasgow uses then drivers don't have to carry cash on them and it will help speed up boarding times
Yousef Noori aye but in Edinburgh u can use ur phone/contactless to pay and u can buy tickets on the edinbus app so its not a problem to people in Edinburgh unless u are dumb as fk and can't work out how to do it
Bus Driver Johnny: I can understand that a lot, but it is sometimes also annoying for the passenger. It can be a problem for foreigners like me, when you just took some money from an ATM and the smallest note you get is a 20£ - note. And it is late, but you want to take a bus. I feel sorry for that inconvenience, but sometimes it cannot be avoided unfortunately. Anyway, up to now I was so lucky to meet only very nice bus drivers in the UK!
Hello Anton from a fellow Bus driver of Preston SC Bus. I use to have a lot of door bangers when I was working in Manchester 8 years ago, even had one prat kicking and punching the bus doors whilst I was pulling away at Piccadilly on a busy Saturday night. It is very dangerous as one slip off the pavement could (and has happened in the past with some passengers being too close to moving buses) have a passenger run over by the from or back wheels. There was a instance many moons ago when a woman was cut in half when she slipped and ended up under a wheel of a bus whilst her husband watched helplessly so people should take extreme care at bus stops. Our float was supplied by the company but now no longer and so we have to use our own money which is usually only £20 in change. Customers don't realise when they try to slip a few foreign coins or fake notes to save money they are robbing the bus driver not the bus company. And most of the time I try to always be a very happy and polite Driver :-)
It's my company uniform Joe! I like to wear a smart uniform....it looks and feels good ....and customers/passengers like to see a smart well dressed bus driver...!!!
I wonder if it’s possible that Vulture meant nobody moans about passengers?? “People always moan about bus drivers, but don’t (moan) about passengers” 😧
By the yellow line he means the line they draw near the driver to stand behind so u dont distract the driver. Basically people standing next to the driver while the bus is going
The yellow line is the line just behind the driver cab that is supposed to be clear of passengers by the front doors so you can see the inside mirrors but not all bus companies have this line
Four things 1. I wait about 2 minutes for a bus. 2. If I miss a bus I wait for the next one. 3. I never play music loud and 4 I always take my rubbish with
Hi Anton. Great Video. 1st I've watched of yours...... thank your flat capped tiger buddy who vrought you to my attention. I'm a driver in Manchester for First. I usually carry anywhere between £45 - £60 float (depends how much I've dipped into in on the previous shift) and still find sometimes this can go very quickly. Only takes a few £20 notes in the 1st hour and its gone. Great points on your video though and wish more people would understand the rule of once we leave a stand we simply cant stop.
Try driving for over 10 years with people moaning about us being late. About us having tea at the other end. I never even drunk tea. People on the bus standing up front across yellow line. Right yes try telling them to stay behind yellow line. Of course we can be fed up we deal with Londoners and miserable buggers getting on. What about buggy’s oh women won’t even collapse there wheelchairs. 1 only. Yer try telling them 1 pram at a time.
Got my Digicard, bought a map book, a few interviews later I shook hands with a coach hire company and never looked back at this work. Been there done that worn the T-shirt with you guys. Bored Saturday and Sunday afternoon kids with skateboards stopping my bus to 'Hang on' the back engine flap or putting my Windows through with stones and missiles. Swearing and spitting at my cab window because they flopped me a £20 note and I flopped them a change ticket. Passengers Kicking my doors or punching the window because I pulled out into traffic and apparently 'Forgot' about them. Passengers threatening to complain about me to the company because two passengers argued and fought with eachother and I didn't play head master and intervene. Kicking my cab door because they tried to use an invalid ticket and I spotted it and refused to carry them unless they pay. Arguments over wheelchairs and buggies. Arguments with the 08:50 elderly trying to use their OAP passes before 09:00. I'm so glad I don't put up with that anymore but feel sorry for those who do.
Driving commercially can be stressful. The standard of driving is very poor and there is less courtesy on the road these days and yet in these busier times its other drivers courtesy that makes such a difference.
The 'yellow line' is the line at the back of the driver's cab because no one should stand on the platform at the front doors as this is a health and safety issue. Worst thing they ever did was make buses OMO (one man operation). Bus drivers should be paid the same as train drivers and be left to get on with driving.
Ey up, Anton. I'm in Grimsby, where Stagecoach provide a £10 float. Our singles are £1.65 so the float should be more than adequate, but a good burst of notes can clean you out. I personally put an extra £10 of my own money in, and I rarely get any problems - even on rural routes where, apparently, passengers haven't heard of change, haha! I figure doing this is easier than dealing with the hassle that comes with explaining you've got no change or messing about with a change voucher (even if they're so satisfying to issue XD).
I carry £10 float, 5 pound coins and the rest in 10p and 20p And I think Vulture was saying "people always complain about bus drivers, but never (complain about) passengers"
I’m a bus driver down in Cornwall and I carry £20 in charge well it was £20 before I buy coffee. it does get very stressful but I love it you meet some funny people when they have to move out my way and I blow them a kiss to say thanks. the down side is they hate me when I do that haha 😂
In Bristol metrobus doesn’t take cash or issue tickets as it’s. About before you bored like oyster (kind of) after dealing with cash before that I will never go back to cash and tickets
Here in New York MTA we don't give change everything is done via MetroCard or exact change we don't even take bills. If they don't have are either of those things their shit out of luck.
I drove busses for three years out of Catford garage in the late 90’s , Leyland Titans/Olympians mainly, the job ,once trained is simple enough to perform, but two rounders as we called them, actually four..’trips’…is the best part of four hours of stop start stop start every minute or so, this after the aforementioned duration is actually very fraying, I wouldn’t say stressful really but if you lose the plot with the job, it’s utterly fatiguing, the busses were well designed for this multiple stopping and starting, simple to operate, but some drivers are tired as well
Really bugs me as a passenger is when people who have been standing on stops for ages and don’t have there tickets of change ready for boarding the bus so when there on the bus they stand there fumbling around in there bags looking for it And another thing that ticks me off is people who push in on the que for the bus And one more when boarding passengers don’t let other passengers disembarked before pushing there way onto the bus All drivers deserve far more pay than they get bus drivers are awesome 😎
Im a driver and that really annoys Me, was at a bus stop was there for 4 mins waiting for someone to find there pass now I'm 4 mins late got to next bus stop 2 old people came on and moaned to my why am o late? You now know why some of us are grumpy
I am a bus driver and have been for 16 years with two breaks in that time. I don't want to do it for much longer as the job is stressful and the pay doesn't reflect that. The reason why we can be miserable is because we are starting and stopping by being in and out of bus stops all day and this takes its toll, car drivers and van drivers cut us up and drive at us, passengers get on the bus and give us abuse for various reasons, pedestrians and cyclists walk and cycle at us and we have to take evading action, supervisors report us for the least little thing, managers discipline us as soon as someone complains even when we have done no wrong, we work irregular shift patterns and sometimes only have 8.5 hours between shifts, the buses can be uncomfortable and noisy and cause us injury, the pay is not that great, we have to deal with traffic congestion which makes us late and this results in passengers moaning/abusing us and then we lose some of our break time, we have to handle money and if we are short it comes out of our wages plus more reasons. The turn over of bus drivers is high and it's no surprise. I've known drivers to just finish training and then walk out because they simply can't handle the job. If I could go back in time, there is no way I would have become a bus driver. The job is crap.
"Yellow line" sounds to me like the particular company has some sort of mark on the floor of the bus that they ask passengers not to step beyond while the bus is in motion so as to not distract the driver (some have stickers affixed to the back panel of the cab asking passengers to not stand forward of this point, instead). I'm a new viewer, so I'm not yet sure how your company chooses to deal with that distraction for it's drivers.
A special long distance bus company in yourkshire wear if it’s the last bus of the day and it’s over 4 hours to the terminus you can call the bus to stop so u can get on
Bus drivers are miserable because they work long hours for little pay, the working conditions are not great, the shift pattern can be all over the place, people complain all the time, management give bus drivers no support, passengers give bus drivers abuse, car drivers are inconsiderate. The job can't be that great because most drivers that leave never come back to the job. It's not a good job.
JamesThePlonker ...yes James. ..the same for me in Yorkshire...buses were every hour! Some routes are every 30 mins or 20 mins....the best were every 10-15 mins....!!! London has the best bus frequency service in the U.K. Not sure what other countries frequencies are like in cities such as Paris, Berlin, Warsaw, Amsterdam, Madrid...etc....and the USA and Asia and Africa!
I drive buses in Cornwall. Got given a £20 float to start with in the form of a £20 note. Usually turn up to work with anywhere between £5 to £10 float. Some days I'm miserable some days I'm happy. Some days I turn up to work happy and I'm broken within 5 minutes of driving a bus due to cars just not letting you through and causing a jam. The irony of.people wanting you to explain why you're late always gets me. The stresses of the job can be endless... hence why I do lates. In Cornwall I pretty much just drive seats around after 6pm. As one of my colleagues say "an empty bus is a happy bus"
On Auckland buses, there is a white sticker with for your safety, no standing forward of this point just behind the cab. There is a no standing behind this point at the rear door on some buses and for the rear section on Enviro 200's and 500's
I was a one man bus driver working for LT in the 80's. I had a different bird every night of the week. I would ask them out when they got on and paid the fare, and I only needed one in a hundred to say Yes. It wore me out though and I had to knock it on the head. I married the last one though lol
There might be sometimes when you’re driving 468, N68 or X68 you might see my dad driving 64, 198, 250, 289 or 410 on West Croydon or at Whitgift Centre
ALL 11-15 & 16+ Oyster cards (ZIP) is free on buses and trams and discounted travel on the LU and most National rail services as far as Gatwick(75p single,£1.50 return) shenfield, Watford junction etc, special fairs apply (£1.50 single,£3 return) (this doesn’t apply for javelin services)
I'm a bus driver in the Scottish Borders my company issue a £20 float which isn't enough so I requested another one so I carry £40 float. Still run out of change most days 🙄
in shropshire the only operator is arriva, and the drivers are very nice they are very friendly and stop at every stop and don't miss a single one but you get the one odd driver that is moody
I banged on the door of the bus because the driver rudely shut it in my face as I was about to board. He then dangerously stopped the bus in the middle of the middle of the busway and got off the bus to confront me.
I know it isn’t ideal but I really wouldn’t put it down as stressful it’s just part of the job right? Having a brother in the ambulance service who has to save lives under a critical time limit and speed through the city on a blue light I find it hard to the complexity of this job
TheLondonBusMaster135 ....I don't mind photos being taken...bit some drivers do! Some may not want their photo taken as they want their privacy...also some may have been in prison and want a clean slate...and don't want 'to be seen in any photos' if you know what I mean!
Unofficial Re-uploads of MDE: World Peace exactly the thing peoples don't understand is that people won't get any better or integrate into society if they can't do normal things, they've done their time and have their record so they deserve at least some chances
Hi anton another thing in blyth it is bad on the X8 which is an express from newcastle to blyth via cramlington you have kids shouting screaming swearing throwing things at other passengers (on tuesday me and my mate had a pair of gloves thrown at us because we asked them to keep the noise down and to stop swearing) one of them throw half full 350ml bottles of milk shake out the window. Also that gave me an idea you should do a video about littering out of bus windows.
Did you get to return to duty?
That's because bus drivers get treated like garbage
lloyd t ....yes...we get treated 😠😡the same as 'bank tellers', 'police officers', 'street ticket wardens'...!
DoubleDeckerAnton I don't drive no more can't handle it
DoubleDeckerAnton also Train Conductors especially collecting fares onboard
So do a lot of people in their jobs. If I was rude to people in my job i would be sacked
DoubleDeckerAnton mhm..
I don't refuse anyone travel for any reason. I've never thrown anyone off either
Same attitude, I tell them I will say that they are on if inspector come on
Just let them on
Bus driving is a very stressful job. Especially if you are driving a bus load of bratty noisy school kids.
DIONNE FRANCIS-BROWN ....yes DIONNE....I don't get too many kids on my bus in London....
But I remember school buses in Huddersfield were were a nightmare with some children misbehaving 😈...!!!
It's so funny the bus drivers get so pissed if they drive past our school at 3 30. There's like hundreds of kids trying to get on one bus xD
A kid was vaping in the back and i think it pushed the driver over the edge he crashed...
You chose to drive a school bus, so there's no excuse to be miserable
Fuck you slag wdym bratty
Bus drivers are miserable simply because passengers have no manners the majority anyway few and far between you get nice passengers. More time you say hello when they enter and they look at you weird!
choyce adrian ..yes adrian...I suppose passengers expect a driver to not be too friendly...!!! It's a demanding job so opening closing doors and checking your mirrors and gently braking acceleration and checking your time schedule takes up a lot of time and focus! 👍
DoubleDeckerAnton the attitude in London is so much different to northerners their more patient and friendly as well
I found it to be certain 'Routes' rather then the job itself.
If they look out the window and sour faced i will not greet them
@@MrChoycey2a what do you expect, everywhere except London rips you off on bus transport. Stingy bastards.
What he means by the yellow line is the line at the front of the bus that your not supposed to stand in front of because it could distract the driver
i gotta say, I love your vids mate!
I do love and hate the job...but it's the best job I've ever done...even though the conditions are getting worse! Maybe a British MP can become a bus driver one day too! 😃👌
Boris Johnson driving a New Routemaster. Now there is a frightening though... :)
John Stokes If Boris drove a bus. I'd feel sorry for network rail and all the running train services. He'd hit so many low bridges with a bus train services would grind to a halt!
Thanks a lot for the last three videos!!! As a passenger I understand a lot more about important things in the bus that really matter! Well done!
Johan Wagenaar ..your welcome Johan! 😀👍
Some bus drivers are actually happy I remember once I got on the bus you was driving (didn't get on when you was moving 😂)and you seemed in a good mood
one Allan ...yes most of the time...😀👌
One bus driver was so friendly and polite and engaging to passengers, it was refreshing to see
Hi Anton, as a fellow driver I appreciate your channel, thank you. I think that by 'standing in front of the yellow line' Vulture was referring to passengers standing in the cab/ front door area, obscuring our nearside view and mirror.
I agree with everything you are saying. I work on buses too so I'm subscribed
My bus is only big as my cab, I dont worry about what the passengers are up to
Best story i heard was one driver whom had one passenger that had a $50 note everyday and never paid a fare for about a fortnight, this driver got fed up and charged him 10 trips in one go and never saw the passenger again. Love the Videos driver from Sydney
In front of the yellow line, in manchester we have a yellow line on the bus that you cant go past until the doors have opened.
In front of the yellow line right next to Your cab, Anton :D Yellow line on the floor.
Konrad Mroczek ...thanks Konrad! 👍😃
The yellow line is also there so people don’t block the view of the mirror on the carb side, but I always talk to the drive on the buses where I live I know most of them know.
Curb sorry bad at English
In new buses the nearside mirrors are positioned in a different way. Passengers mostly do not obstruct those mirrors. The problem now is the front door view.
Well maybe on newer bus models but we have older vehicles and the mirror is more nearer the door and people have blocked the view into it.
What happens if someone tries to buy a ticket with cash and you don't have enough change?
Me-Doh We are Late I will wait
Other people-I missed it let’s bang on the door
I'm a bus driver in Barcelona and everything you explain happens exactly here: try to pay 2.20 € ticket with a € 50 note, music at full volume inside the bus, people banging on the bus door once closed and running... in recent years I have noticed that incivility has increased a lot and people drink alcohol in the bus, eat and leave everything dirty, cans rolling on the floor...
Great channel ! 👍🏻
It's the same here in middle of England
I am a community minibus driver, and I am always friendly and engaging to my passengers. If it was rude and aggressive, I would be sacked am sure
Just subscribed mate keep up the good work you must be tired you know the little yellow line lol
Do you get a lot of drunks on your bus Anton and keep up the good work
lee s ...hi Lee...I get some drunks but it as many as u used to...probably because I don't do too many late shifts!
Lol😂 i tried to give £20 note to a bus driver
I'm new to going to buses on my own so I'm not really sure about bus etiquettes/rules
The bus driver became sarcastic that I gave the bus driver a £20 note & said '£20?!?! I dont have change!'
So i just walked out the bus but luckily my mate gave me a free bus ride
Sorry I have £20 note lol I'm new to going to buses by myself plus many people are taking the bus by scanning their phones nowadays
alrite mate, im a driver down in Worthing [west sussex] for stagecoach. I get one or two trying to pay £2.90 fares with a £20 note but once you tell them they can use a contactless debit card they're usually pretty obliging. loving the vids mate and keep up the good work!
Anton, the yellow line is probably the one just behind the front platform.
yh bUT 11-15 & 16+ can travel free so nobody has to pay, this is why I never understand why bus drivers don’t let people in skl uniform in the bus because it’s free anyway
I understand...its a very tough n demanding job! I was the only kid st school who wanted to be a bus driver 🤗
Do you ever wonder what random person is thinking when walking past him 😂 boi
One of my family members is a bus driver for a company in Suffolk, the float he gets depends on the kind of route he is driving. When he drives an express bus he gets £15 but if he is driving a frequent stopper he gets £30
Joe Wells ...that sounds like a good idea Joe...a float tailored for each route!
I think what vulture was trying to say "People always complain about drivers, but never ABOUT passengers"
My biggest pet peve is when people think we know the schedule of every other bus in the next three counties and when they just blurt out some random adress or intersection a and ask what bus will take them there. I know say "Do you have a phone? "Yes" then look it up" people actually get pissed about that.
in london you need a zipcard at the age of 12 but you start paying once youre 18
Jonny Eaves ...yes jonny...I'm glad I don't have to deal with cash anymore in london!
It takes up a lot of time...and carrying extra weight (coins) 😀👌
DoubleDeckerAnton aye it certainly does, wish that we could get the exact fare only system that first Glasgow uses then drivers don't have to carry cash on them and it will help speed up boarding times
In Edinburgh, we have to pay with exact change. Any extra and change won't be given back.
Yousef Noori aye but in Edinburgh u can use ur phone/contactless to pay and u can buy tickets on the edinbus app so its not a problem to people in Edinburgh unless u are dumb as fk and can't work out how to do it
Bus Driver Johnny:
I can understand that a lot, but it is sometimes also annoying for the passenger.

That happens where I live if they want the bus they should arrive at the bus stop early and learn the bus times.
Is it mandatory for you to wear a suit or personal choice?
Uniform
It's my company uniform Joe!
I like to wear a smart uniform....it looks and feels good ....and customers/passengers like to see a smart well dressed bus driver...!!!
Ruffels No he’s Dutch Van Der Linde
Devil8355 - 😂
I wonder if it’s possible that Vulture meant nobody moans about passengers?? “People always moan about bus drivers, but don’t (moan) about passengers” 😧
I see a bus driver now and again he looks like he has a permanent smile glued on his face.
By the yellow line he means the line they draw near the driver to stand behind so u dont distract the driver. Basically people standing next to the driver while the bus is going
The yellow line is the line just behind the driver cab that is supposed to be clear of passengers by the front doors so you can see the inside mirrors but not all bus companies have this line
someone knocking on a door makes people feel attacked? okay...
Four things 1. I wait about 2 minutes for a bus. 2. If I miss a bus I wait for the next one. 3. I never play music loud and 4 I always take my rubbish with
In Dublin the buses are exact fare only. But its mostly Leap card our Oyster equivalent these days
Stephen Hyland ....yes stephen....Contactless cards are the future of travel.
Cash 💱💶 will cease to exist in the future decades!
I carry £10 float, 5 pound coins and the rest in 10p and 20p
And I think Vulture was saying "people always complain about bus drivers, but never (complain about) passengers"
The yellow line is by the cab of the bus to not block the drivers view. :)
The yellow line is a line you can't go past when the bus moves if you are standing up.
Some of us wake up before the sun even comes up... so we sacrifice our evenings to serve people. They should respect us more.
Who remembers the ticket machines outside bus stops
The yellow line is located behind the cab and marks where to stand for passengers. This is for single door busses only but maybe double decker busses.
Bus driver in Canada, we don't handle any cash. Peoples need to have exact change and they put it in a box themself.
The person who was agreeing with Paul meant by people always moan about bus drivers but they never moan about the passengers in the bus
In gloucester we start with £0 and end the day with £0 so we don’t get float
I think bus drivers are always miserable because passengers always seem to be miserable too. Maybe if passengers were happier they'd be happier too.
Stephen Hyland ...yes that's true stephen...only a few passengers greet the driver on boarding 👋...and say thank you when alighting the bus! 😀
Here in New York MTA we don't give change everything is done via MetroCard or exact change we don't even take bills. If they don't have are either of those things their shit out of luck.
Here is LA, we carry no change for those that have a larger bill than the required fare.
I drove busses for three years out of Catford garage in the late 90’s , Leyland Titans/Olympians mainly, the job ,once trained is simple enough to perform, but two rounders as we called them, actually four..’trips’…is the best part of four hours of stop start stop start every minute or so, this after the aforementioned duration is actually very fraying, I wouldn’t say stressful really but if you lose the plot with the job, it’s utterly fatiguing, the busses were well designed for this multiple stopping and starting, simple to operate, but some drivers are tired as well
Really bugs me as a passenger is when people who have been standing on stops for ages and don’t have there tickets of change ready for boarding the bus so when there on the bus they stand there fumbling around in there bags looking for it
And another thing that ticks me off is people who push in on the que for the bus
And one more when boarding passengers don’t let other passengers disembarked before pushing there way onto the bus
All drivers deserve far more pay than they get bus drivers are awesome 😎
Im a driver and that really annoys Me, was at a bus stop was there for 4 mins waiting for someone to find there pass now I'm 4 mins late got to next bus stop 2 old people came on and moaned to my why am o late? You now know why some of us are grumpy
He means the yellow line that you’re not allowed on to cross it’s in between the cab and the seats. It’s not always yellow.
1100HondaCB then why did you choose the job if you hate it so much
1100HondaCB wow that makes sence. But I say hello to every driver and I still dont get a hello back 😂
@@Katie-ou2ss 16 years ago different job. You fucked up cow!!!!!

Every job has its flaws and it’s true that the public can be damn right horrible, but I generally enjoy driving minibus
I'm a bus driver in Melbourne Australia and yeh kids can be annoying especially when they keep playing with the stop button
A special long distance bus company in yourkshire wear if it’s the last bus of the day and it’s over 4 hours to the terminus you can call the bus to stop so u can get on
before oyster saw a lot of bus drivers gambling fares on fixed odds betting terminals in bookmakers
John Smith ....wow...now those are desperate drivers...!!!
It stops drivers who are on 'the take'..!!!
I can never understand how people abuse drivers, they are human too, they can make mistakes too, give them a break..
I know when i go down me caravan in Essex i have too wait an hour for a bus which is a bit different to waiting up to 10 minutes for a 368 in dagenham
The yellow line is the line on the floor of the bus that says passengers cant stand forward of a certain point so the driver isnt distracted
TheDisguised Vlogger ...thanks..😀👍
DoubleDeckerAnton and for safty if you slam on the breaks the person could go through the window
Isn't the yellow line reference referring to trains maybe? Long time subscriber always enjoy your content
It's the yellow line beside the driver's cab beyond which passengers aren't supposed to stand as it obstructs the view

Looking good😁
I remember once getting out of school and the bus driver saw me and closed the door and drove away looking at me waving
If that was me I would report the bus driver to reception
I know it isn’t ideal but I really wouldn’t put it down as stressful it’s just part of the job right? Having a brother in the ambulance service who has to save lives under a critical time limit and speed through the city on a blue light I find it hard to the complexity of this job
I'll bet that bus drivers get annoyed whenever I take photography of the buses directly at them.
TheLondonBusMaster135 ....I don't mind photos being taken...bit some drivers do!
Some may not want their photo taken as they want their privacy...also some may have been in prison and want a clean slate...and don't want 'to be seen in any photos' if you know what I mean!
That doesn't give them the right to go and take your picture while they're at lights.
hmm, i didnt know bus companies hired "ex-cons", not a bad thing though, i firmly believe everybody deserves employment
Alfie Naylor it does
Unofficial Re-uploads of MDE: World Peace exactly the thing peoples don't understand is that people won't get any better or integrate into society if they can't do normal things, they've done their time and have their record so they deserve at least some chances
