Just as a note this issue is present on both the MK7 and the facelift MK7.5. It will be interesting to see if the NEW IQ lights in the 8R are also affected by this! Let me know in the comments also if you can add any further information to help others out! Thank you for watching! A quick like to the video will help the channel also👍

Hello Sam...a good topic. I've had this slightly a couple of times over five years of ownership.....just in the front indicators. A couple of minutes with a hairdryer and it disappeared.

Hey Sam. The headlight is actually not sealed. There are holes to release the heat so that’s why you get the condensation when it’s wet/cold/humid. So nothing to worry about most of the time as it clears up on its own. Looks a bit crap though!

Yes that is correct. They are vented. 👍

Mine was getting this condensation in it and my head time light on the passenger side went out 😐

Condensation doesn't clear up by itself 🤦‍♂️

I managed to put some silicate bags off eBay in the back of the lights. (The stuff you get inside new trainers just bigger) 50gram bags. It helps and you can dry them out and keep new ones in rotation. Shouldn’t have to do this to such a nice car but whatever, there’s always something! I had to fit a glovebox light wire to my Audi A5 Quattro because it never came as standard!!! Unbelievable! Lol

if i was to change my headlight with a secondhand headlight on my 2016 golf r with another 2016 golf r does it matter if the numbers are not the same .

I was told by a crooked dealership that this condensation led to the headlight failing while the car was in their lot waiting for an inspection.

Water got in after a rain storm recently, shorted the entire headlight assembly, dealer quoted me 3600 for a single headlight plus modules 🤣

Wow that is expensive! Mine has been solid and any condensation disappears quickly after the start-up. I would recommend an independent should yours need to be replaced but I know the light system is expensive on these

This is not normal, anyone saying this is normal need some education how these are designed. Never had a problem with my F10 xenon’s where some do, watch my channel had to replace a headlight lens for this reason.

Cheap or what? What I do not get is why my 2002 golf purchased new has outlasted (forgiving paint) seems to have outlasted my wife's car (purchased after - new - gearbox problems , ignition problems, fuel tank problems . Like a fool to a money pit we figured the local franchise was as good as a vegan at a pork roast cookout and probably less brains than cabbage.. I think she is on her 4th golf ATM, all older than mine, the last was inherited which is the only reason we kept it. I do not think I will get another vw once mine gives up, but all the bits that ever dropped off are in a storage box and as long as I can keep it out of a vw franchise the longer it is likely to last. My next car will not be a Volkswagen I think, any quality they built the firm on is out the window. Anyone with cloudy headlights should be asking why a 2002 golf has pristine headlights . A few issues on the tailgate before I leave, whoever designed that cable loom needs a short lesson on electronic wiring or to just ask a professional exactly what is so bad.
