- Took a trip near the top of Genoa Peak. Got some amazing views of Lake Tahoe at 9000ft above. Taking my family and our Jeep on this adventure was beautiful. I hope you enjoy the video, we had a blast making it.

Thanks for explaining exactly how to find the trail head. It looks like a fun place to explore without fear of breaking anything. I might try to bring my 2022 tundra up a ways.
its a super easy trail. Has some beautiful views.
I'm so glad I found this. I am new to wheeling and wanted to see what this trail looked like.
Glad it can help you! We have the gps info on our website. I have more videos planned for that area!
Watching this brought back some wonderful memories. I lived in Reno for a year in the early 2000's (only a year because of job) and would spend many of my days off from work exploring around Lake Tahoe in my Jeep Cherokee. I actually just ordered a Wrangler Rubicon a week ago and Lake Tahoe is going to be one my first long distance trips when safer to travel (I have health issues that require me to be extremely careful during COVID).
Beautiful! 😍
it was a blast, you should know!! ;)
Great video. Thx for sharing. Adding this to mu bucket list
Thanks! I want to do an update but there’s way too much smoke here.
Cool video. I was just up there early October. View from the top is just absolutely stunning.
Its a great spot! I will be doing another local trail this weekend and will share it. So stay tuned! Subscribe, Like and Share!!
Pretty awesome! Loving the shirt
Thanks buddy!
Excellent video
Thank you very much!
Been up there several times on my dirtbike..
Awesome!!! 😎🍩🍻🇺🇸
thanks, we had such a great time!
I subscribed, I live in VC and haven’t been to Genoa peak. I’ll have to go when the snow melts. Thanks
i did that trail in my outback. must air down lots of rocks.
Thank you so much for this. We are currently looking for accessible views (4x4 or OHV) to do our elopement. When I saw the OHV map, I was hoping someone would have a vid. If you’re aware of any others, on the Nevada side, it would be GREATLY appreciated.
Genoa Peak is amazing. I will be exploring more trails this summer. I have a few more on my website: blackrockoverland.com
Hey thanks for sharing views of the trail. It doesn’t look like it ever gets too narrow, but just to check in, can a 4wd full size pick up make it through?
Yes, this trail was very easy. I’m planning to do it again soon and can give some updates.
Awesome video. Do the same dispersed camping rules apply, same as other US Forest Roads?
yes, make sure you check with the local forest ranger before camping on current restrictions.
Would a stock tacoma have any issues getting to the top? Looks beautiful!
Yes, super easy trail. Might need a little 4x4 at the top but 90% of the trail will not need 4x4.
A stock tacoma will be able to make it, be careful of hikers, motorcycles and ATVs.
Man looks nice. Is the path wide. I have a silverado, would i run into any problems
I’ve seen lifted silverados on that trail.
Not at all, just watch for other vehicles on the trail!
How long did it take to do the trail? I’m heading up there next month. 👍🏼
Depends on how long you want to stop and see the beautiful sights. If you don't stop, probably a couple hours. You can easily make a day of it.
Did you air down? Would you recommend either way?
So on this trail I did not, its a pretty easy trail and you could if you wanted to. If I were to do more crawling and flexing I would, it just helps keep more rubble in contact with the ground or rocks.
Would a stock 2022 Ford Maverick with the 4x4 package make it? Looking to get out of the house this weekend and wanted a easy trail to do.
I think so, the trail is pretty easy.
So are there many areas to pull off and camp along this road?
Yes there are spots to pull off. There are some side road to explore also, make sure you check with the local ranger station for any restrictions.
Are you able to set camp there for the night?
You can, but you might want to c heck with the local forest ranger before doing so.
Hello. Where is the entrance to this place? I went to tahoe yesterday looking for the entrance. Coming from Reno when you go up and down to 50 to yo have to turn left to south tahoe or right to go to north tahoe? There is one left turn before the y and they call it tahoe rim trail. I guess thats not it because mo motorize vehicle sign. I dont see the DOT Place that you were talking about in the video. Please let me know. I want to try this trail. I have a sxs and a quad. Please let me know. Nice video by the way. Thanks for sharing this video.
As you pass spooner lake heading west on HWY 50 you’ll see a DOT station on the left. The road starts behind it. On my website I have a map that might make it easy to find. www.blackrockoverland.com/genoa-peak-trail/
@@BlackRockOverland thanks for the fast reply. I appreciate it. I will be going back there probably next week to check it out. Is there a place to park a trailer in the area?
I don’t think there is on the 50 side of the trail but where we exited the trailer there is a large parking area and bathrooms. So if you park there and explore the trails, you should be good. Here is the google maps point where the parking and bathrooms are:

@@BlackRockOverland you are awesome. Thanks again. I will check it out next week. I will let you know . Thanks again.
Let me know how it goes! I’d like to update this video!
Does this trail begin off the 207?
Yeah, it runs between HWY 50 and 207 (Kingbury Grade).
Are you guys from northern Nevada? I live in Reno we should wheel. I have a zr2
Yes we are! We are still building our list of follower but are going to start publishing off-roading dates on our Facebook page and website: blackrockoverland.com what are some of your favorite trails?
I live in Reno we should meet up. I love anything that ends in vc. My favorite trail here is leviathan mine hot springs and China springs out or vise versa in gardnerville. We will be having a run with Sierra wheelers and friends pretty soon.
Sweet! Let me know when. I need to get my Jeep and camera out for another video!
@@BlackRockOverland going out with a new group that formed from Silverstate off road called Sierra wheelers Sunday morning leaving from Dayton and going up the back side of the petroglyphs then to vc
Starting point?
We started just west of Spooner lake, take a look at blackrockoverland.com for the map, gpx, and more detail. Thanks
Did you enter the south side and exit on the north side or went back the same way you came in?
I entered the north side off Hwy 50 and exited the south side at kingsbury grade.
@@BlackRockOverland ok thank you for the info, I plan on going as soon as the snow melts and things clear up a little.
One more question… when you were descending were you on the brakes or did you drop down a gear?
@@daves485 you could use either, trail may change depending on the snow melt. When I was up there the trail was really easy.
Big Foot around? Can you camp up there?
Didn’t find big foot, I’m going up there next month to look for campsites. I’ll post another video
@@BlackRockOverland cool thanks for the update.
