From the snowy, mountain tops, to the colorful, Autumn foliage, everything was so beautiful. Seeing the deer by the apple orchard was really sweet. I have to say that Kellie makes really good-sized cookies.🍪😁 That museum, and the contents were so interesting, and entertaining. I love those kind of places. Thank you, very much, Doug for sharing the exhibits, and all the information with us. I never heard of that artist. I'll have to look him up. The background of the people showcased was interesting, as well, Doug and Kellie. It really does seem like a lovely place to go, due to the reasons you mentioned, Doug. I'm surprised there weren't more people, out and about. The cemetery was a great stop, as well. Once again, you gave us a terrific, very entertaining, seasonal video. You're spoiling us, Doug.👏🏻😊☀️🤠 P.S. PLEASE continue to do so.🤗

Hi Rhonda! I am home for lunch; putting posts into the ground for my 🍇 grapes. The reason so few people in Genoa was the weather; us Nevadans are not used to the clouds and rain (just the sun, snow, and dust). Snowshoe Thompson's original name was a Norwegian form, similar but different; he anglicized it. I imagine Genoa was almost like New England, but of course needs a lot more fall maples. What place could compete with Massachusetts for fall color; Vermont perhaps? Yes, those cookies are big, but I prefer them that way...better nutrition for hiking energy. Are the leaves turning in your area? Are the woods close so you can enjoy them? Glad you enjoyed the deer Rhonda!

@@CalNeva Oh, that makes sense. The weather does affect people differently, depending on what they are familiar with. We've had a lot of rain along the East Coast, lately. I think we have a way to go before we see the peak foliage, however. We do have quite a few hiking trails, and conservation land near us. The mountains are a doable day trip, and back, not too far away, but enough.
That's wonderful that you grow your own grapes. You certainly live a diverse life, Doug, with so many different interests. It's very obvious that you enjoy the actiities you have. I'm glad that you let us hitch a ride with you, Doug.👏🏻🤗🤠

@@rhondaz356 The Whately Truck plaza Diner, near South Deerfield, MA is a good place to eat. I was working up in Greenfield and was helping hauling crane mats for a logging operation near Shelburne in the woods. I spent three weeks working up there and loved it, had free time to hike the Mohawk Trail and ran up to Vermont and Maine a couple times...such pretty forests, but so many deer ticks! I think it was 2018. Been all 50 states and most of Canada. I would love to see the trees in fall up that way in your state! I found the people friendly and approachable. Got a good day putting in some more grape posts, good exercise, catch you Thursday Rhonda!

What an adorable town! I can't believe that was a gravel road not too long ago! The mountains look so nice with a touch of snow, and I love the way those maples pop with that red ❤ What a great day you and Kelie had! 😊 🍎 😊 🍪

Hi National Parks Princess! Yep, that Jacks Valley Road was unpaved on the north end near US 50. There has been a lot of building going on in Carson Valley. Genoa is close to the bigger towns and so pleasant, thus expensive. Kellie should make some apple cinnamon cookies! Glad you enjoyed it.

Genoa is a really quaint town. The fall colors are starting with a dusting of snow. A true eastern Sierra fall. So beautiful. The fruit trees and vines are great! The deer have the right idea hanging out there. Thanks once again for sharing your adventures. 🍁

Thanks Brother for the Genoa memory refresher trip. Been many years since I was there. I'm glad to see it hasn't changed much. You and Kellie picked the perfect day in my opinion, love those cool overcast days. I had forgotten about all the apple trees and the deer everywhere.
Just like you, I enjoyed exploring the back streets more than the "touristy" parts, but I did like the museum tour you showed us. Always enjoy a good museum, but I'm kind of worried about visiting in person these days...the curator might put me on display!
It was fun for sure! 🇺🇸

Hi Brother! Ha, you always crack me up and are always spot on. The weather reminded me of western Oregon; cool and overcast in the fall. Cool this morning, snow dusting on Mt. Grant and overcast cool in Hawthorne. It is the perfect day to dig in those 4" x 4" x 8' posts in my little vineyard....so I am home for lunch and can respond quickly. Like you I enjoyed the Museum, but I was afraid they were going to Shanghai me into being a museum docent (unlike you, a little different than being an item on display, but not wanted by either of us). Going to try to get some more posts in after lunch. Say hello to your wife for me and I keep you both in my prayers for good health and appearances of youth. Hope you are enjoying the cooler weather.

Doug I have watched this video about five times!! What an absolutely gorgeous fall day... so CALM so PEACEFUL 27:49 ... literally right on the edge of the Sierra!! Genoa along with Minden and Gardnerville are still so nice and uncrowded compared to Reno. Wild blackberries and apple trees galore!! Some interesting articles about Snowshoe Thompson on the internet... of course he was a hearty Norwegian!! Thanks to you and Kellie for all you do for us taking us with you on your adventures 🤠

Wow, so quaint and lovely. You’re lucky you grew up in Douglas County, Doug. I always wanted to buy a house in the Carson Valley but now it’s become a destination area and I’m priced out, so I guess I’ll have to wait till I win the lottery! 😂 Your walk through the less traversed area of Genoa was majestic. I love going down there for hikes, day trips, wonderful hot springs, and strong drinks at Nevada’s oldest Thirst Parlor. I hope you and Kellie had a wonderful time up here in NNV! PS - those cookies look delicious, Kellie!

Hi G! Those cookies were very good. We skipped the saloon because we were driving. So pretty there, it's free to visit and so close: no property taxes, no painting & lawn maintenance to get done, so I'm good with it. I think most everyone got priced out of Carson Valley. Too much traffic now for me; I prefer it quiet as you know. So close to Reno and not too far from Hawthorne! Stay warm G!
