I have both a gym membership and a garage gym. Sometimes it’s nice to wake up and start working out in your pajamas, hair on fire, and bad breath. I live in Florida and the summers are too hot for the garage gym. Great video.
The ending was really sending a message to me . Just like the “fancy all out” doesn’t compare to a place where u feel complete.. at home the origin Just like life somewhere, something doesn’t feel right (alone)doesn’t compete to anything that makes u feel welcome at peace at home 😊
You definitely can't judge YMCA based off of one. Some are thrown together pieces of shit in the basement of an old church on skidrow with like 10 pieces of equipment. Some are massive 3-story luxery gyms on the beach with an olympic swimming pool, water park, indoor track, basketball court, sauna, and like 5 different weight rooms. Lol.
The one he went to was bad. Why would he drive all the way out to some second location. They should have the same quality at every location. Consistency is a massive factor.
@@smhjesse It's not a commercial gym though, most of them receive direct donations to each specific YMCA. They vary because the amount of contribution to those specific facilities is different.
@@smhjesse Except the entire point is that they are a business, when they are just an organization that helps communities create recreation centers/gyms. It really shouldn't be on this list even. lol
Crunch was the ONLY gym in town that had time for me the day I walked in. I've been a member 2 years now, love that I can have customer service and the red light! Classes are phenomenal too.
Jesse’s Covid vids from his home gym were the driving factor to make me start lifting and what made me fall in love with it. Truly an inspirational man. The real camamdo ninja.
I have the equinox hudson yards level membership (global whatever) and I have to agree - the gym is always jam-packed, there's only like 4 racks (2 of which are sort of deadlift racks anyway), and the vibes are sort of so-so. People working in the lobby, people working in the restaurant, people working on the terrace. It's a solid gym, and the wild part is that they HAVE the room for like five more squat racks, but they just have open space instead. That, and NONE of the benches at any equinox in NYC have safety bars, so if you're trying to max out or PR, you have to find a spotter or just try not to die. But there are other equinoxes that are newer, nicer, and better equipped. Printing House, Rockefeller, plenty of alternatives. Hudson yards is just for the view, and definitely not for leg day.
I am in the middle of the video and just wanted to thank you, I have been very depressed for past 9 months and today was very very harsh, I just clicked on your video because I love working out and your videos are not just grunting and lifting, I am commenting because you lifted my mood up , I genuinely smiled and it genuinely means a lot to me. Having recently built my own home gym after trying so many commercial gyms. This video really resonated with me. Thank you for your fun and honest content!
As a former YMCA employee, YMCAs vary significantly across the country since they rely on local donors for their funding. The weights and weight rooms at my local YMCA I worked at were significantly better than the one two towns over, for instance. We had 5 squat racks, new hammer strength machines and plates, dumbbells up to 130, plenty of benches and cables. They even built an extension on to the room after I had left and it's even bigger with more equipment now. Some just don't have the budget for that level of equipment though, or divert those funds to other projects like the wall-climbing equipment. There isn't really a lot of standardization across the nationwide network.
14:34 almost every bouldering gym has these, they’re called campus boards and you’re supposed to hop up to the next ledge with both hands at the same time. Most bouldering gyms also have hangboard where you just hang to train finger strength.
There are a lot of training options on the rungs. Beginners start with what Jesse was doing. Then you progress to skiing rungs and not matching hands on the same rung. Yes you can go both hands but most people don't and you need to be careful. The pro climbers train with this to go from the bottom to the top in two hand movements. Yes two. It's insane
This was probably one my favorite videos you’ve made by far, it was cool how it went full circle for you and shows how far you’ve come as a person and where life has taken you Much love to you Jesse! ❤
it is an amazing video there are so much emotions inside, huge work have been put to create this gorgeous content i trained in a gym for 3 month then i quit and start to workout in the home and i have been working out in the home for about a year with only dumbbells, pull up bar, resistance bands and with only these equipment i could get in shape and feel better thank you for making me remember this
Go to powerhouse in west Springfield MA, it's my local gym, and it's a solid 9.5/10 in my opinion in terms of a straight lifters gym. They dont have much for amenities, but they heavily focus on having quality machines and plenty of squat racks, deadlift platforms, and benchest
I was feeling nostalgic there at the end. The countless videos I've seen that were made in the home gym. Where Noel became popular and the best videos came from. Definitely #1 gym.
The best part of your videos is always the life lessons you extrapolate to the rest of life through the gym. I came for entertainment out of curiosity and left with a piece of wisdom that really moved me. Thanks a lot for the video
Yep. I’m keeping my meager home basement gym. Nothing fancy. Kinda cramped. But it’s where I feel most comfortable and motivated. Great video. Was a blast seeing all of the places you went.
The best gym is the one you can get to the easiest. So obviously home gym is #1, but then whatever has a squat rack, a couple of barbells, dumbbells and cables, and is closest to your house or work.
I built a home gym 6 months after Covid Gym closures, but have recently joined Fitness 19 just to experience lifting around other people again. Still love my home gym
I honestly thought you were gonna show the OneLife that I see you at every once in a while when you’re home (you’re usually not filming). Kinda surprised you didn’t, but I’d say OneLife is like a B+
Man, LT has the best community of any gym chain. Been all over CO and AZ. All cool people that are super personable. Bring back the 24/7 access though!
Idk I think equipment is the most important factor. S-tier for me is the only treadmills they have are Woodway, must have air bikes and rowers, Atlantis machines, and entire rows of power racks on platforms with a surplus of Eleiko plates that go from 25kg down to 0.5kg.
I think the ranking is pretty spot-on although I do have a planet fitness membership and a 24-hour fitness membership I have been to other gyms including golds and when it comes down to it I keep those memberships that I do have just for convenience since I race and sometimes before race I just want to get a quick burn or if I need a shower but during their busy times I do not want to touch the places and if I had a gold's near me I'd probably have that membership again because it was pretty awesome being there as for places like equinox or anything that claims to have the biggest and best of things and has a membership over $50 even I take that with a grain of salt because more often than not when I've been to places like that the vibe is exactly how you explained it in the video the people come off as very snobbish and stuck up and in their own realm which I think defeats the sense of community that weight lifting has for most people. Overall great video
