Not only do I really dig your music, I am blown away by my Evertune equipped guitar, which I have had for about a month. Great product, and now I want it on all my guitars.
Think of Evertune exactly like a floyd rose -- except each string saddle is it's own independent bridge. The saddles can move back and forth based on your playing, tuning, bending, etc, but the springs in the back compensate for all of that and make it so it's at the same tension no matter what...So same principle, spring tension in the back vs string tension in the front. And you can lock in the tunings multiple ways -- you can make it so you can't bend AT ALL, or you can make it so you can bend a little, or a ton. All depends on what you're trying to do.
Another great benefit of the Evertune is something I learned from Ola Englund’s video on it. He mentioned how much Evertune helps him due to his hard picking style. With regular bridges he has issues where the note he plays will initially go sharp at the point of impact which drives him crazy during recording and the Evertune totally prevents that from happening.
Was looking into this initially with some confusion about how it works (bend vs non-bend). Thanks for the straightforward explanation of what Evertune does...I think I'm sold.
Great vid, Devin! Very informative in how it works, it almost sells itself. I need one of those. Matter of fact, every studio owner(home AND professional) should have at least one/two guitar(s) equipped, laying around for those "lemme just grab" moments!👍🏻 🤘🏻👹🤘🏻
Thank you Devin. I've just sampling the first 7 seconds of this video, set it as my notification tone for a WhatsApp group chat, turned my phone's volume way up and walked into a cinema. Your 26 pence royalty cheque is en route via carrier pigeon
Hi and thank you for the video. What I am missing in all videos is this - once your are in the Zone 3 where you can actually bend, does it mean the Evertune bridge acts like a regular bridge and no longer maintains tension and it may/will go out of tune eventually? Or it stays true to itself and keeps tension in all zones except for the fact that it also allows bends? If that's so and it does allow bending in Zone 3 - how does it know when I bend versus when the tension changed and it needs to compensate? Is there a threshold within which it allows bends and the rest is considered a change of tension? And if yes, how does it know that currently it's a valid bend and not a loss of tension. I fully understand Zone 1 and 2. But 3rd one - mystery so far.
At last! a new video. Thanks Dev. Kept checking everyday since your tour video log finished. Not felt like that since Breaking Bad finished ! Great video, looking forward to the next one. Have a great Xmas & New Year to you & your family. See you in March in Manchester
love me some gear reviews, love me some Devin Townsend, love me some anec dotes and casual . Vid and series get a gold star in my book, hella excited to see what you talk about next!
Hello Mr. Devin Townsend all your songs are very good and I feel a deep connection especially when I'm driving... Do you write a lot on the road? Evertune sounds like it could be one of your tracks lol... Everyone have a Hevy Devy Christmas \m/
Hey Devin Townsend, thank you very much for the video. Amazing technology. Though as a beginner I'm wondering if this bridge would prevent me from learning how to play clean. What do you think? Would you recommend it for beginners as well?
Thanks Dev! Interesting for my fender precision bass? Thay are planning to make bass bridges... Hmmm, the weird thing is is that the latest update on their (Evertune) website is from november 2014... Is the company still alive?
This is one for all those guitarists who like to come on stage during changeover setup tune there guitar, go off stage and at there onstage time come back on stage and START TUNING!!!!
If you set yourself too close to zone 3 you lose the tuning stability, too far from zone 3 and your bends only get registered if they’re big bends. It’s cool, I’d love it for the studio.
Depends on your style of music first of all. and which currency is it? Us Dollars our beloved canadian momopoly money (often thought canadian tire money should count as real currency that could be funny) british pounds? which? If you play metal or hard rock. Some of the new Jacksons are really nice the Monarkh is a great guitar I own one and never had an issue with it. I also have a Jackson Slat xmg 3-6 and that thing is a great guitar. It's very easy to play. Some PRS guitars are nice too I own two of those.
I just found this series 1 year later and find them invaluable! my question is does the Evertune come in a Left-handed version? Thank you for your music and letting us into your world. Cheers! 🤘
Hey Ho, what’s happening? Dig the new album. Just picked up your signature set Fluence pickups. Killer, killer, killer. Man, do you use flatwounds on your Mayfield and your Stormbender? Or was that what Framus had installed on one of the Framus Mayfield Review you did? Oh and TC Elctronices pedal board build you did was epic. “Where’s the ✂️ Scissors?” 😂 Thanks a lot, Garrett Conner.....Metal
It's strange. In Zone 2, you get Evertune bridge, but you can't bend. If you want to bend you have to compensate (ho ho ho) and have half of the functionality of the bridge. It kind of presents a solution to a problem, and a new problem, but in order to solve the new problem, you get a version of the original problem. Or... Am I getting this wrong? Now, you can compensate even further and get the best of both worlds and set it up just shy of zone 3. New problem, it starts bending a bit later, so you have to get used to new way of bending strings where vibrato bends become nearly impossible. I just don't know if I could live with that. xD
Unless I'm totally mistaken (which is entirely possible) unless you are in Zone 2 where bends have no effect on pitch, then having light gauge strings on low tunings might cause pitch drift if you dig in hard while playing. Momentarily going sharp. So heavier strings would help with that, same as they do with a normal bridge.
Yeah I guess you wouldn't be able to have it in the bending zone with a light gauge without the pitch rising when pressed. But in the no bending zone, I'm curious how the tone is affected by a light gauge. I'm also curious if a baritone guitar would be able to have an Evertune bridge installed.
I don't think tuning would be a problem with light gauges, but I do think that the tension of the strings would be very low, so I would find it very uncomfortable to play. Also the tone wouldn't be the better one.
Hola Dev! El fondo musical electrónico de este vídeo tú lo hiciste :O???? Por ahí supe que sacarías un álbum electrónico, es cierto? Piensas sacarlo en algún momento? Gracias Dev por tu música, es increíble. Saludos desde México.
ChrisWatsonAU either that or DR stainless steels, those are real workhorses, and my fingers are more corrosive than a 50 year old half gallon of coke haha
No because it maintains constant tension. Basically another benefit I don't think anyone has mentioned, throw new strings on and you're immediately ready to play, the strings can stretch and the system will compensate.
in canadian temps in Drop G... my Quest Atak 5 is never in tune lol in a 1 hour from waking up the temp changes with my pc by 5 to 10 C ! and the tuning also... lending my guitar to bending friends, tuning goes, looking at the guitar, tuning goes... well ok maybe it's just actually never in tune, the 15 years i had my guitar, step 1 is tune the guitar... being poor i rarely change strings because i need to travel to a store... i live in New-Brunzwick caraquet and we get asked over the net if we have electricity...(are they dumb? it's way past the 70's ;P) but we have no music related things in a 20km radius, im not walking that for strings so i last them till they are black and my guitar is black!(look like there is no strings!) i bet even the ever tune can't fix that much... even in tune is wobles off tune but i play black metal so it's ok!(it's like playing DimmuBorgir with a phaser always on... but in G) ---->also when i heard Planet Smashers for the first time i was like Finally a song in G and i can almost play it after 1 or 2 listen! so i guess with you it's not djent but Gent HA~!
I get the feeling that you like the color gray
The Grays
Hhahaahahaahahahaha
@Unsere Dreiwolf yes
His brain sees music as colours so he needs to grey out everything else 🤣
Racist.
Imagine Devin Townsend making memes
Isn't he a meme already? A godly, sexy Canadian meme of doom? :D
He sort of is! Check out his instagram, it's hilariosu
Devin IS the memes
Almost fell off my chair with the extreme bend.
probs coz you cant subtley bend hmm
@@seanobrien7568 WTF?
Seems like EVERTUNE brand needs to develop a guitar holder that never detached from the wall, that will be EVERHOLD
10/10 Intro.
I was gonna offer some help in creating/animating an intro, but it seems like you've no need for it. Perfection!
Not only do I really dig your music, I am blown away by my Evertune equipped guitar, which I have had for about a month. Great product, and now I want it on all my guitars.
My go-to video everytime I need to retune my evertune and have forgotten because it was SO. LONG. AGO. Cheers Dev!
Loved the Coffee with Ola video......Floyd rose is "Never tune" I'm still laughing.......
That was a great interview... or conversation... chat... whatever, it was worth the watch.
My licensed Floyd rose is pretty stable much more stable than my les paul.

@@charliebowen5071 it's not technique? Its physics meeting the string.
I've never seen such an extreme bend O.O
Dev showing us his David Gilmour impersonation.
Have you seen Guthrie Govan perhaps?

Loved it! Could you do a video on your fishman pickups
Dude.... For some reason.... When you said "the cusp of zone three" now i totally understand where to tune mine for bends. Tanx.
Best video I've seen describing how they work and how to set it up. I watched multiple videos and was so lost.
I fucking love you man! you're a true Canadian treasure! keep being awesome and making killer music

I inherited my Grandmas's Les Paul jr. It's really old. Stays tuned for about 10 seconds lol What a cool gadget!
That bridge would drive me nuts 😂. Bending would be like being stuck in the mud. Lol
Devin Townsend is one of the greats. Amazingly Brilliant musician and guitar player.
Acctually hes one of the GREYts
I miss the vlogs, do you miss the vlogs? Because I miss the vlogs.
Amazon bridge! It will be nice if Evertune manages to reduce the size of the bridge, only for aesthetics. Cheers Dave!!

It’s honestly not really noticeable. I got one and was kinda worried about that too but your fingers kinda automatically adjust.
Spot-on.
That sure was an extream bend! Evertune ftw!
Really interested in your opinion on how the G10 wireless is holding up.
fun video. hope you keep this up
So youre saying that you don't change the strings anymore because of this bridge?
I want this really bad! Who would you recommend for installation? Evertune keeps saying they are going to offer it but are taking way too long!
Ha! great video, and very clear explanation of evertune.
Please do a vid on your signature pickups :)
That's a beautiful looking guitar.
lol, whats with the tuque dude?Must be really cold indoors
Pretty awesome design.
How does it sound if you use a light string gauge and tune to C? Since the pitch stays intact, is there any need for bigger strings?
Unless I'm totally mistaken (which is entirely possible) unless you are in Zone 2 where bends have no effect on pitch, then having light gauge strings on low tunings might cause pitch drift if you dig in hard while playing. Momentarily going sharp. So heavier strings would help with that, same as they do with a normal bridge.

weses2 I think dev does have some longer scale guitars with evertune installed.
so if the neck of my guitar is bent because of humidity or I just turned my truss rod too many times, it still will keep the right intonation?
Can you play Sonic Youth with evertuned guitars? If so, how many guitars does it take?
Does it work the same for all tunings, I don't understand?
Hola Dev! El fondo musical electrónico de este vídeo tú lo hiciste :O???? Por ahí supe que sacarías un álbum electrónico, es cierto? Piensas sacarlo en algún momento? Gracias Dev por tu música, es increíble. Saludos desde México.
So my question then is what strings do you use if they last you that long? Obviously something coated. Elixir or something else?
ChrisWatsonAU either that or DR stainless steels, those are real workhorses, and my fingers are more corrosive than a 50 year old half gallon of coke haha
As far as I know, he uses D'addario's 10-52 XL or EXP XL.
Great video. Keep them coming :)
Thank you for the explanation! always been curious
Nice looking guitar
what is that music behind ? hum.. Love the video though , cheers for that !
I bet that bridge added a dick ton of sustain to the guitar. Looks heavy. Through body...... Kinda dig it.
I wonder if you put new strings on your guitar and as they stretch they screw up the Evertune for a while until they are fully stretched out?
No because it maintains constant tension. Basically another benefit I don't think anyone has mentioned, throw new strings on and you're immediately ready to play, the strings can stretch and the system will compensate.
Great video
Won't buy until there's a headless floating tremolo version. Is that possible?
Thanks! I was wandering what this thing is for.
