Completed this mod in about an hour this afternoon, works perfectly. Thanks for the information provided. The spoon cost me 50p (UK); a little expensive, but it was from a charity shop and for a good cause!

everything about this makes a ton of sense. I have been wanting to pull out my lap steel guitar and actually learn it and play it. I've been binging other lap steel videos and this got recommended to me. I'm not hunting for the perfect spoon!
