They all have other jobs on the F1 team too. As long as you are not requiered to do sth during the race you can also become a member of the pit crew. For example if you are a truck driver for the ferrari team driving their material from one raceway to another you can possibly become a tire changer too. General mindset of the crew: "No big deal; it's just our job." Although I'm old school, and with 21 guys over the wall and in pit lane it does seem like overkill compared to the good old days of Graham Hill, Jackie Stewart, Jim Clark, and Juan Fangio when they had maybe five or six guys over the wall to change tires and fuel the vehicle, while another person back behind the wall used to give the driver a cup of something to drink by passing it out to him on the end of a stick - and they still got it done in less than 30 seconds.

+aakksshhaayy they have a light it turns green when all the tyres are connected. at least they had in 2015 season earlier they had a guy with a lollipop and his job was to see when everyone was ready
There are 2 guys , 1st-supervises the tyre change , 2nd-looks for oncoming traffic in the pit lane , for a safe release, when they both press the remote control the light in front of the driver turns green , wich is go time. You can see them at 0.42 sec top of the screen hanging the remote controls
Aditya Verma The car gets lifted on a really thin area and is really unbalanced because of the jacks, and the way they put and thighten the tyres would wobble the car all over, also they dont only hold it but most of the times they might as well take tyre/other junk from the radiators
I've replayed this so many times focusing on a different person each time... fascinating teamwork

hahaha.
And now we're in 2023...
And by god do I wish we weren't because it's just nothing but heartache now.
Reason I love Formula 1.
A Team wins, not just drivers.
0:41 Speeder bike
Idk why
But I think this is somehow cute and funny
I saw the timestamp and was like "a whole minute, that's not that impressive". And then I saw the video
Other youtubers, put in 3 sec for a page of Harry Potter, you just let us have all our time needed for 2 words and "F1" thanks man!
Who gives Go signal to driver? Like what happens if one of the guys messes up..
+aakksshhaayy - The guy on the front jack is the signal. He watches for each guys arm to go up signalling they're done. Once he drops the jack (car) and moves out of the way, the driver goes. And yes, they do mess it up sometimes!
*****
-True. Seems that team just step back when completed. Used to be the wheel nut changers used to raise their right arm when done. My bad.
+aakksshhaayy they have a light it turns green when all the tyres are connected. at least they had in 2015 season earlier they had a guy with a lollipop and his job was to see when everyone was ready
The driver knows to go when they drop the jack
There are 2 guys , 1st-supervises the tyre change , 2nd-looks for oncoming traffic in the pit lane , for a safe release, when they both press the remote control the light in front of the driver turns green , wich is go time. You can see them at 0.42 sec top of the screen hanging the remote controls
Me in 2019 with RedBull: pf this is slow
Guys in the middle get paid to hold/balance the car.
+kaozbender probably more than a burger flipper too.
+kaozbender considering F1 pit crew members make roughly $3600-$7200 per race (depending on what role they have) I'd take that job any day.
Logan Fehr Same. I didn't make this comment mocking them, just saying it's cool.
But why do they need them
Aditya Verma The car gets lifted on a really thin area and is really unbalanced because of the jacks, and the way they put and thighten the tyres would wobble the car all over, also they dont only hold it but most of the times they might as well take tyre/other junk from the radiators
Perfection level - perfect 100%👌👌👌👌
