  • Here is our step-by-step guide on how to stain pine wood for your next DIY project!
Pine is a soft wood that dings and dents easily. It is also very porous. It is important to prep well by sanding the wood and applying a wood conditioner to reduce the blotchiness of your stain project.

Can I water pop the pine instead of wood conditioner?

I used that exact same stain on that exact same type of pine and it basically looked like gray paint. What am I doing differently?

Thank you for the video! I didn't know the stain wouldn't stick (or likely not stick) if it's not sanded first.

Good question. Depends what it is. Usually I try to stain before so that everything is covered no matter the angle, but I’ve done it both ways!
