I saw that you sealed it with a water based finish even though the stains before were oil base, have you noticed any problems with that or do you have info about that? Also is the treatment in real time so the oil stains do not get any time to dry. I‘d appreciate the infos . God bless you😊
Hi! Next week will be about a year since I stained and sealed my pantry floating shelves this way, and I haven’t had any issues. And yes it’s in real time, I found that if you let the stain sit for to long it made it too dark. I also would definitely recommend testing it on a scrap piece to see how it turns out since different woods stain differently. Hope that helps!

What happens if you just stain or varnish it with oak color?

I think this would be better without the grey tone. The white wash toned everything down nicely.
