Benny is one of those drummers who thinks of drumming as a second language and his teachings in this book are phenomenal. Im definitely getting myself this book!
WHAT AN AMAZING WAY TO USE THIS ALPHABET. I don't know if these are exercises benny used in the book but it's damn clever. Thanks for the practice material.
nice video..... my name is Travis also! lol...... I just was given this alphabet thing by my drum teacher last week, so yours was the first video I checked out to see how it could be used..... very good video
Thank you! I definitely can. This was a product of the rona, because I had a student that had to move back to Germany mid-semester that needed a demo of this one.
Interesting! Your control and consistency is amazing, Is this a good book? I’m a beginner and already purchased stick control book to start with. Excited to learn drums!
I really like the book. It’s very systematic. If you can play through the exercises in the book you’ll likely be able to play pretty close to “whatever you want, however you want!”
@@travisdamme much easier to follow!!! I like this exercise.. works for hands and feet too. Imagine If I did these kind of exercise over the last 15+ years.. I’d be better lol
I barely made it through as is. Being able to say “chid” while doing it is definitely more challenging, but shows a higher level of mastery. Someday I’ll get it with diddles.
@@travisdamme yeah. May be best to just say the 1 2 3 or 4 though as to always know where you are in the bar being reinforced. Bennies a genius coming up with this system though.
All these years of playing drums my ear, i am just discovering alphabets of rhythm
I ordered this very book this morning....you’ve just got me so excited to get going on this! What a super fun way to practice. Thanks for the video!
This is one of my favorite books to work out of and teach from.

Yeah, they’re two of the rudiment variations he uses in his book and dvd.
Good job sir. This is advanced for sure.
Thanks for this, need to get this book

Have fun with it! I have a few other examples of how to use it in other videos. I do them for my students and sometimes make them public.
Nicely done!
Nice one! Was looking for a demo on this. You intend to do other exercises from the book?
Thank you! I definitely can. This was a product of the rona, because I had a student that had to move back to Germany mid-semester that needed a demo of this one.
Thanks so much brother 🙏
Awesome!

Can someone give me a quick rundown of how this works - what the dots and dashes mean? I'm not really familiar with this system
For Diddles 1 the dots are diddles (two hits one hand) and the dashes are normal hits.
For Diddles 2 the dots are accents and the dashes are diddles.
nice work!
Thanks!
Hey, nice one! Isn´t Didles 2 exercise included in the first one? A-L B-M C-N etc...
Technically yes. The difference is that he brings the accent back for diddles 2. Diddles 1 doesn’t have an accent.
Is a diddle same with a double strokes?
Yes. A diddle is a double stroke.
Ahhhh the first time I was reading left to right… it’s not working!!! Oh wait B is down one not left of A… it makes sense now!!
Yeah, I organized my sheet in columns rather than rows. Enjoy!

Nice work! This exercise looks pretty hard at 65.
It was pretty tricky with the pressure of making the video. I tried doing it without warming up and messed it up a few times.
We should know how to do this..THEN follow you
you didn't say chic
