Man I'd love to see a 2022 update to see how you've grown your rigs and any new designs and such. I'm in Florida too and I'm using a tent right now but I'll be building one of your boxes to fit all my rigs.
Hi Two Ton, what a great and clean set up ! Really good and well done. We run a large mining farm in South America and run a 100,000+ cfm air flow system which seems to do the Job. Exactly like your set up, just much bigger. Keep up the great work and don’t let anyone tell you ***sh**!!
Yeah ok this might all be a bit late but here it is. Try setting up the fans so that they draw in filtered air and produce a positive air pressure environment for your rigs. They will dissipate heat easier. And flow that warm filtered air outside in summer and inside in winter. Works for me.
Wow!!!I live in Miami and I have mine in a grow tent... but they are stacked so the heat rises and I keep having problems. And I have them inside! Pulling cold air! You are my savior!!! Have you been able get better fpl rates?
What is the current status of this project? Did the humidity in the air ever cause any issue? I am in Florida as well, and I am interested in doing something like this.
Hi 2-Ton Hasher...thanks again for answering my questions concerning dimensions. My boxes are in the process of being constructed now. One additional thing I wanted to ask. Your set up looks very neat. I mean in terms of the wires and cords etc. In your next video could you please focus on how you have arranged the wires and cables *inside* the boxes? Thanks in advance. Believe me, your videos are an inspiration (well, at least to me). Cheers!
Hi TwoTon. I appreciate your videos. I have a couple question with enclosures. (1) Do you think building a small enclosure for my small hobby rig worth? I am going to place it outside the balcony for heat/noise, in which it will face direct sunlight in the morning. I live in Vancouver, so summer average high is 72F with low humidity. (2) I don't have a skill/tool for enclosures. Do you think it is worth going to a carpenter? How much would it be to create one on 9:57? Maybe buy myself panels from homedepot/lowes myself? (3) Is wood the best for the low conductivity? How about hydroponic tent or styrofoam?
Hello Sir. Quick question: I live in Europe, where the winters are kinda cold(down to -20 celsius)...so I wondered if you would advise me to put insulation on the inside of the wooden boxes...or leave them without... And another question: isn't humidity/condensation a problem? If yes, how did you approach it? Thanks a lot.
ah, I wish I could have same rigs as yours, so hard to get any gpu these days, not to mention the crazy high price and risk of eth going to POS algo. you are a lucky man. love to see your videos, keep uploading.
@TwoTon Hasher - Hey man! thanks for the update. One thought/question comes to mind when I see your setup... What would happen if those fans at the top die on you? Will the rigs properly shut down before it gets too hot in there? Have you considered redundant fans sort of like some rack servers do internally?
Well done updates Sir, so what is the temp inside of the box ( not gpu temp) ? i wonder if the box will stay cool under 80-85 F if outside temp above 90F in summer?
This is great.. I live in south Florida too and have 8 rigs and have been constantly dealing with heat issues.. I have 13 gpu rigs, so will need to create a taller frame that gives room for cards but not too big else the 60CM riser cable wont reach.. What difference in temps have you noticed on the old box to the new box ? interested to know temp difference the change in filter design and the flap have made ..
Really impressed by your setup. Might try out something similar when the -2°C swedish winter stops spoiling us muiners. I wonder though, with thermals under control you really should look into dualmining, atleast during the winter months. The value of the bonus crypto usually amounts to the total energycost of the whole rig, if not more!
Love the setup...however I am scratching my head as to why are you locking them up cause if someone wanted to take them...remove filter and take?? maybe I'm missing something?
On your AMD Cards in the boxes, are you underclocking or undervolting? If it's 80 degree's outside how are your temps around 60 degrees in the mining software? Thanks and great video's, super helpful.
Very nice setup. Even before...but I wish you had your own place that was a little more off the beaten path. It doesn't look like you get a lot of traffic or even foot traffic but that could be a bad thing too. Just like those fools who drive by to steal packages from your porch I worry about leaving the rigs outside in wooden boxes with locks you can easily bust off. Now if you were on your own property with an acre or more the setup could be more secure. Anyway....still a very nice setup.
What is the max temp you see on a hot day? If it's 90 degrees F outside, does that make your base temp 90? Seems like the intake from outdoor air is going to be at the outdoor temp at a minimum right?
Last summer, the hottest I saw was 102 degrees F on my back porch. The hottest my GPU's ever got (that I saw) was 74 degrees Celsius. Yes the intake of air is always the same as temp as the ambient temps outside. But even in 100 degree heat, as long as your airflow is good enough, this is still good enough to keep the GPU's with in sustainable temps. The trick is removing the heat generated by the GPU's.
Hi, can you show us how you run the cable from inside the house to the porch area? I see that you have sliding door, do you leave the sliding door crack open, which will result in lost of A/C and critter get into the house? Thanks!
Good question. Yes, i leave the sliding glass door cracked enough to fit all the extension cords and Ethernet cables to get through which is about a little over an inch gap. I fill in this gap with an HVAC foam tube and then duct tape on both the inside and outside for a good seal. It's not pretty but it does the job. If I owned the house i would just install dedicated circuits back there but as I am just a lowly renter, my landlord wont let me
Certainly a practical and perhaps non conventional way of cooling but it seems to be working for you. Would love to see a vid on the profitability of your setup. Any plans for this ?
I'm getting ready to move my rigs to the garage in a case like yours. Thanks for the answer to the humidity question, I just have one more as I'm getting ready to build it. The boxes look almost double the height necessary to hold the miners. What is the thought process to the height?
I think that makes sense, I'm working on my own but I'm thinking more of a tunnel with a fan on both sides. Just want to make sure there isn't any thermal principles I'm not thinking of.
Thanks for the vids. I am in the process of building a box for my rigs using your design. I live in the same area as you and am going to put mine in the lanai as well. I have two 7 card rigs (gtx 1070 and gtx 1060) in my home office and they produce a ton of heat. Getting them out of the house will be nice. I also ran a 240v 30 amp line to the lanai so that I wouldn't have to worry about power issues. I will post up a vid when I'm done.
I finally have my box setup and running. Here are two videos I uploaded about the box: ua-cam.com/video/teGI90NYZ9k/v-deo.html ua-cam.com/video/pA47BG6XPOY/v-deo.html
could you add filters under the rigs, to improve airflow, and ease strain on the extractor fan? i have no experience in these things, but you never know, it might help.
I made a box too and I got the same fan at Lowes, but it really slows down when I shut the door so I am a little concerned over the long term. How is your fans holding up?
Thank you for such a quick response, I duplicated your box and I put one 8 card rig (1070's) in to test it out, if it works out I will put my 1080ti rig in, total 19 gpu's so far. I ran a 30 amp cord to the box and I am getting my internet through the 30 amp cord also. so far just one cord into the box!
Most mining software has this built in already. Claymore, DSTM, EWBF and other miners will automatically shut down if your GPU's hit 80C or whatever you have it set to. This is customizable.
What kind of temps are your cards running at and what temps are you getting inside the boxes when the outside temps are in the 100-110+? Wondering as i'm working on a similar setup but inside my shed. Thanks
Just a thought but why not mount the gpus vertically and use floor filters. Push cool air from below the box and hot air out the top? Also, have you thought about the psu orientation? Putting the psu above the gpus might reduce heat as well. Not sure if thsi would work, just a concept.
That all depends on the coins you're mining. I don't really look at daily or monthly profits. I mine coins that have the potential for the future.. Its a gamble.. but so far it's paid off.
Any chance you can share details on the small box? Looking to get my rig out of the dining room now that I have new power in the garage. Would love to make a box like yours!
i built this box to hold 2 x 7 GPU rigs. Basically you want the inside as small as you can. The less air space inside the box the better. So go by the size of your rigs.
I gotcha, I tried to build a 12 GPU rig (or well I did), and it had that feel like someone who should not be messing with a hammer should be making it! I'm a network engineer and I love wood projects. They just have never loved me back.
very nice update on the boxes. great tour as well. i have a few questions, and hopefully you could read them. a) what cfm are your fans (exhaust)? edit: and wattage? b) how can you tell if the fans (exhaust) are working harder than before?
Great questions (a) 7000 CFM on high speed (according to the manufacturer) but I run them on low speed. On low speed they run at 170W (b) when I close the door on my boxes, creating the seal, the fans bog down (in sound, i can hear it). But, that being said.. these rigs are running very cool. And so far the fans are holding up... so far.
always trust the data, they say. since this is an exhaust ventilated setup, maybe the fan exhausts air alot greater than what comes in, hence the bogging down. great work on the door seal - makes sure that the airflow comes only from the intake vents. and the baffles. will definitely implement it to our rigs.
Old topic, but i just applied some of your ideas to my mining room, i noticed that filters reduce are flow a lot, if you are able to notice the fan bogging down when closing the box then you might want to lower MERV rating on your filters, or add more, it will improve your temperatures as well, it happened with my setup.
Why are you r ports on your cards turned inwards causing your airflow to blow on the opposite end of the ports on your cards? I mostly see fans blowing on the ports, is there any reason for this?
TwoTon Hasher hmm... got it... i was planning to make one box for each rig in the future... i even don't finished my first full rig and already having problems with over heat
damn man how hot is it where you live? i got my rig sitting inside right next to a window. when its 30-31 degrees celsius outside the gpus are between 50-60 degrees
Sir may i ask you , regarding your GPU's are they 1080ti's or 1070ti. i have mine but only 1070 gpu's. Is it oke if i would copied your style.. please sir need your helpful advise
We need to know you are alive and well.... if so then do update us on the rigs.
Man I'd love to see a 2022 update to see how you've grown your rigs and any new designs and such. I'm in Florida too and I'm using a tent right now but I'll be building one of your boxes to fit all my rigs.
Hope you are still out there mining my brother
I live in Texas and this has saved my life lol.
Nice !!! Same sooon
I’m also in Texas, what temps were you getting in the summer?
I know this post is old, but does ambient summer air actually keep these things cool?
Your setup looks very clean and organized. Maybe one day I can reach to that level. :)
Thanks for your video! I've made a box of my own with ideas from you, its now hanging out in my balcony! Thanks again!
glad to see you did the weather stripping on the boxes
For it to be 80 degrees outside you are getting great temps! awesome video and glad to see you posting again! best of luck!
I'll bet this guy was an air conditioner guy at one time! His boxes look like the outside fan/condenser box thing!! Great design idea.

I like this. Great inspiration. Thank You for Sharing. Wish You Healthy and Wealthy.
Beautiful set-up
awesome upload, always enjoyed your vids!
Fantastic set up.. thanks for the upload sir!
so cool how you build this greatjob
wow thanks for this upload, i have limited space and this is a great way to over come the problem

Ficou show . Brasil aqui
Hi TwoTon. I appreciate your videos. I have a couple question with enclosures.

You are a superhero!
*Cool Looking Setups!*
But i agree one large box would be better , maybe a "walk" in shed type "Rig Room"
nice setup dude
That was an awesome setup there. Are you still running the and mining something?
Thinking of investing in GIG9. It seems like a lucrative deal plus after doing some research, it sounds like a very logical thing to do as well.
Why not turn the baffles into ridgid shelves and throw a second set of cards and filters in the empty space above the current cards?
nice set up
Looks amazing!!
Your setup is great! What are your extension cords plugged in to? Do you use 120v or 240v?
2 years and 6 month no upload, my guess everything burned down or got stolen.
I think it’s the prior one
Hello Sir. Quick question: I live in Europe, where the winters are kinda cold(down to -20 celsius)...so I wondered if you would advise me to put insulation on the inside of the wooden boxes...or leave them without...

ah, I wish I could have same rigs as yours, so hard to get any gpu these days, not to mention the crazy high price and risk of eth going to POS algo. you are a lucky man. love to see your videos, keep uploading.
Glad to see you're doin ok.
Might want to consider cutting the street driving out of the dirt bike video though.
which one do you think is better? more profitable? Which would you indicate? I want to ride some...thanks!
Thanks for uploading!
Ldx coin is getting more priority than the others.
great work man!!

What difference in temps have you noticed on the old box to the new box ? interested to know temp difference the change in filter design and the flap have made ..
With the new boxes, i'm seeing a 3 to 4 degrees Celsius cooler temps compared to my old boxes. The real test will be this summer though.
Any chance you have a list of what materials to buy with measurements of everything to make one of these boxes? lol I want to make one
Do you mining in winter ? :) Garage or somthing? :)
nice job...
Love the setup...however I am scratching my head as to why are you locking them up cause if someone wanted to take them...remove filter and take?? maybe I'm missing something?
What are you mining for the most part? Do you think the price of ether will rise any higher?
Would you recommend a 1080Ti rig?
is it still worth it? now that the market crashed
On your AMD Cards in the boxes, are you underclocking or undervolting? If it's 80 degree's outside how are your temps around 60 degrees in the mining software? Thanks and great video's, super helpful.
THATS WHY I LOVE MINING!!!
Have you tested this design with RTX 3080/3090 or any cards with GDDR6X memory modules?
Great...thanks for the info and video

You are my new bro! Good work :)
Nice setup great for S.W. Florida looks like C.C. in your back yard lol
I thought the same thing.
Definitely cape coral... I live in Fort Myers and thinking to do the same thing.
good job. which fan r u using?

@@DVRTech- what abaout winter? :)
have you considered using the application awesome miner to config and control the rigs?
Thanks for the vids. I am in the process of building a box for my rigs using your design. I live in the same area as you and am going to put mine in the lanai as well. i live in the same area but cant put outside and its hot as hell in tampa area
I finally have my box setup and running. Here are two videos I uploaded about the box:

I would love to build one of your small boxes. Do you have dimensions or possibly plans for that?
could you add filters under the rigs, to improve airflow, and ease strain on the extractor fan? i have no experience in these things, but you never know, it might help.
Yes, you definitely could.. but you'd have to orient your GPU's in such a way to best take advantage of the fresh air
How do you protect against the outdoor humidity?
Im wondering the same thing. Moisture would build up on the filter and then slowly on the back of the cards if it was really foggy outside, right?
what are the cfm ratings of those top mounted industrial fans?
I made a box too and I got the same fan at Lowes, but it really slows down when I shut the door so I am a little concerned over the long term. How is your fans holding up?
So far so good. I've had them out there almost a year now
Thank you for such a quick response, I duplicated your box and I put one 8 card rig (1070's) in to test it out, if it works out I will put my 1080ti rig in, total 19 gpu's so far. Incase the exhaust fan fails what fail safe measure do you have to prevent the cards from overheating?
Most mining software has this built in already. Claymore, DSTM, EWBF and other miners will automatically shut down if your GPU's hit 80C or whatever you have it set to. This is customizable.
Hi twoton hasher, you havent uploaded any videos lately, would be nice to see updates on your mining cooling boxes so far.
good design, what core/mem speed did you set to get those 31mh? are they Samsung mem. I only got hynix
What kind of temps are your cards running at and what temps are you getting inside the boxes when the outside temps are in the 100-110+? Wondering as i'm working on a similar setup but inside my shed. Thanks
What brand of fans do you use here and can you tell me the model of it? Im from europe so im trying to find something similiar. thanks in advance.
how can you see all ring info in only one monitor? how you have connected? kindly describe
What brackets did you use to mount fans on top ?
ABSOLUTE LEGEND
Just a thought but why not mount the gpus vertically and use floor filters. Push cool air from below the box and hot air out the top? Also, have you thought about the psu orientation? Putting the psu above the gpus might reduce heat as well. Not sure if thsi would work, just a concept.
I've actually thought about doing both if i were to redo these boxes.. but for now they are working just fine, Thanks!
Thanks for the great video. Do these rigs make enough money to allow you not to work anymore?
No, LOL, I wish
TwoTon Hasher lol how much does each rig roughly make a month?
That all depends on the coins you're mining. I don't really look at daily or monthly profits. I mine coins that have the potential for the future.. Its a gamble.. but so far it's paid off.
TwoTon Hasher nice, what coins are you mining? I'm currently mining ethereum
ELLA and UBIQ right now
Any chance you can share details on the small box? Looking to get my rig out of the dining room now that I have new power in the garage. Would love to make a box like yours!
Its a 3 foot square box with a 20" fan on top
Heh, guess I was more or less going for the insides. But based off of this answer I should just watch and take some stabs at it. Thank you!
i built this box to hold 2 x 7 GPU rigs.
Trust me i know the feeling... i wasted alot of wood before i got it right.. I'm just an IT guys myself
very nice update on the boxes. great tour as well. i have a few questions, and hopefully you could read them.
a) what cfm are your fans (exhaust)? edit: and wattage?
b) how can you tell if the fans (exhaust) are working harder than before?
Great questions
(a) 7000 CFM on high speed (according to the manufacturer) but I run them on low speed. On low speed they run at 170W
(b) when I close the door on my boxes, creating the seal, the fans bog down (in sound, i can hear it).
Old topic, but i just applied some of your ideas to my mining room, i noticed that filters reduce are flow a lot, if you are able to notice the fan bogging down when closing the box then you might want to lower MERV rating on your filters, or add more, it will improve your temperatures as well, it happened with my setup.
how much is the electric per month ? And the 10 rigs watts ?
where do you get your cards? did you get them before they increased in price?
thanks for this, awesome work, i am brazilian.. sry for my suck english ! kkkk
is fan speed controlled by trmp
No update? Tell us if you still mine now...
Have you talked about how many watts the fan takes? If so sorry I missed it.
about 170W per fan
man it would be awesome to do a detail on the mining rig frames themselves with some dimensions. Would you change anything about those?
Did you ever have a problem with gpu fans stop working? If yes what did you do?
Why are you r ports on your cards turned inwards causing your airflow to blow on the opposite end of the ports on your cards? I mostly see fans blowing on the ports, is there any reason for this?
love your video! been following you. Also it would be lovely if you could provide measurements for your boxes. Thanks!
3' high x 4' wide x 4' deep. But you need to make sure thats the size you need for your rigs to fit inside..
Thank you very much!
Hi...can you share the dimensions of the individual crates in which you put the cards? And, what is the gap between the cards? Thanks in advance.
for a 6 card rig - 22" wide x 14" deep x 12" high. The gap between the GPU's is roughly 2"
TwoTon Hasher thanks very much!!
Hello, how are miners today? please make an update video.
greetings from brazil
I'm inspired by your project to do something similar.
if the boxes were smaller the air exchange would not be more efficient??
Yes, the smaller the better.. but then you loose space to work if you need to... so find a happy medium
TwoTon Hasher hmm... got it... i was planning to make one box for each rig in the future... i even don't finished my first full rig and already having problems with over heat
damn man how hot is it where you live? i got my rig sitting inside right next to a window. when its 30-31 degrees celsius outside the gpus are between 50-60 degrees
any signs of condensation on any of the pcb's?
Its Fan tastic. I see what u did there :D
Hope this guy is still mining :"[
That is so cool
would be great if you could share part list with prices (fans especially) you know, so people can estimate how will this look for them
I strongly believe that you should try Nicehash legacy miner on your rigs for a little bit.
Sir may i ask you , regarding your GPU's are they 1080ti's or 1070ti. i have mine but only 1070 gpu's. Is it oke if i would copied your style.. please sir need your helpful advise
Hope you are still mining.
