As a woman who last saw a live bear three years ago at Yellowstone, I have to disagree. I was with 3 female friends. That bear paused to look at us and kept going about its business. Men do not have that kind of respect when rejected. No thanks. BEARS 🐻 all day for the win......

Plus bears will often choose to avoid you if they know that you are there (which is why bear bells work most of the time). Also bear spray is a very effective deterrent against bears, most of the time. You can't chase off men with bear bells. There isn't a whole lot that we can do to dissuade them from hurting us. Men tell us all the time how people can build up tolerance to tazers and pepper spray and how our self defense techniques probably won't work. Then they act surprised when we feel safer around bears.

When he finally left, I changed the locks as soon as I could, installed a few cameras and got a security system. I've never been so terrified of what he might do. It was a couple months before I felt safe enough to leave my house (even just to let my dogs go to the bathroom) without carrying a gun. And that was over 12 years ago so social media wasn't as popular as it is now. So yeah, I'll take a bear as well.

I've been in the woods with bears when I was stationed in Wisconsin. They avoided us at all cost and the one I did see was just sitting on the side of the road watching the cars pass. People even got out of their cars to take photos without being harmed. What I found interesting was the complete lack of empathy and curiousity that the guy had about why women would choose 'bear'. He didn't ask 'why'. He jumped straight to 'that's stupid and wrong', but absolutely no questions, curiousity or confusion about 'WHY'. He knows why. And it doesn't bother him that so many women admitted that they were a lot more scared of men than random bears. No empathy or imagination about how the world must look to us... living life surrounded by potential threats that we find scarier than freaking bears.

I was coming home from walking my dog the other day. I was avoiding the sidewalk because two men were doing yard work in one of my cul-de-sac neighbors' yard at the end of the street. One of them literally stopped what he was doing. Again, he stopped doing his job and came out from the gate to tell me that my dog looked tired and asked how long I'd been waking. I had headphones in and didn't make eye contact until he came out of the gate to talk to me. Dude, leave me alone. Of course, he's tired. We just got back from a walk. I graduated high school in a part of New Jersey where it was common place for neighbors to encounter a bear. A bear won't mess with you, unless you mess with it. A man will attack a woman completely unprovoked just because he feels entitled to. I'd choose the bear, too.

I was riding my bike through a camp ground when I was like 10. It was dark and I almost ran right into a black bear digging through some trash. I backed away slowly and that bear didn’t even call me an ugly see you next Tuesday for rolling up on him so fast. Bears for the win.

Plus bears will often choose to avoid you if they know that you are there (which is why bear bells work most of the time). Also bear spray is a very effective deterrent against bears, most of the time.

Men tell us all the time how people can build up tolerance to tazers and pepper spray and how our self defense techniques probably won't work. Then they act surprised when we feel safer around bears.
I hate when a man attacks or forces himself upon someone and then he says” please don’t tell anybody think about my friends and my family” he should’ve thought about that before he did that, not to mention the poor victims psyche. I had a man send me a string of texts saying the same thing after he did what he did. It started out with are you ok. Thats how I knew he knew what he did. After that a string of other texts begging me not to tell, then finally one accusing me of being a 304 and not to act funny about it. This man was friends with my husband at the time. It was the worst experience ever.

When he finally left, I changed the locks as soon as I could, installed a few cameras and got a security system. I've never been so terrified of what he might do. It was a couple months before I felt safe enough to leave my house (even just to let my dogs go to the bathroom) without carrying a gun. And that was over 12 years ago so social media wasn't as popular as it is now. So yeah, I'll take a bear as well.

I've been in the woods with bears when I was stationed in Wisconsin. They avoided us at all cost and the one I did see was just sitting on the side of the road watching the cars pass. People even got out of their cars to take photos without being harmed. Men, on the other hand, I've seen women, punched, threatened, and k*lled just for refusing to give a man their phone number, so yeah I would definitely take my chances with the 🐻 🤷🏾♀️

The threat of safety for women is enormous and we have to really take a proactive approach when dealing with this threat as women and girls of all ethnic backgrounds are being harmed.

I graduated high school in a part of New Jersey where it was common place for neighbors to encounter a bear. A bear won't mess with you, unless you mess with it. A man will attack a woman completely unprovoked just because he feels entitled to. I'd choose the bear, too.

Dude really couldn’t understand why a man in the woods is scarier than a bear and it shows the male privilege of almost never having to consider what you’re going to do if you get graped or how you’d get out of a bad situation.
I live in a three female household, my mom, baby sister, and myself. We were all abused as children by different MEN, my mother was verbally, physically, and mentally abused by her first husband, I was date raped in my 20s. I will always choose a BEAR.

Yes Bears are scary and they can kill you or hurt you really bad but there’s only one reason to fear a bear. There’s several reasons to fear a man. Plus, bears don’t try to act all friendly and then stab you in the back when you least expect it, if a bear is going to be a threat to you, you know it as soon as you meet the bear.

I was in the woods alone one time, when I discovered there was a cougar sitting behind me, close enuf I could've touched it.
I stood up very slowly & turned to face him. He sniffed & yawned - that time of, ya know. Then he just turned around & sauntered off - that's when I noticed it was quite mail.
Oddly enuf, that wasnt nearly as scarey as noticing a guy 10 ft behind me is.

I live in Alaska. The moose are more likely to kill me (we have a mom who lives in our yards) and I still don't fear them. I live near bears. As long as I respect them, they respect me. I don't startle them and make noise, I'm safer by a mile.

I picked the bear. They just want to be left alone and would probably just walk away. Bears don't really eat meat except for fish or whatever's leftover from another animal's kill.
