Making an entirely underwater level was a really bad idea; having to stop to find oxygen bubbles every minute completely kills the flow of the level. The need to add some alternatives to the bubbles, such as additional sections above the surface of the water. The lighting is also terrible. The reflectivity and sharp shadows on the terrain combined with the special level elements, such as spikes, not being bright and standing out make this look like a pain to play. I could hardly see the spikes at 6:00. Visual clarity is much more important than photorealism, especially in a game where you're moving at high speeds. I'm not sure I can even stand to watch past this water level. These levels need a lot of work.
Isn't that the point for water levels in sonic though. Most underwater levels for sonic made you slow down or speed up to get to the next bubble zone or had the bubble shield when you weren't going going to see bubbles in awhile. It became your testament of skill to see if you could make it. I agree with the lighting issue. They should either make the place visible or they should make a gimmick that should brighten up the stage like sonic 3 sandopolis. Railings should hold lights on them.
Yeah, they really do.
Also, there's extra lives just out in the open. The whole point of extra lives is that they're a reward for exploring, enticing the player to keep exploring.
And I agree with you. Visual clarity is very much something needed in a Sonic game. Especially in nighttime stages, which a lot of this pack has. Or maybe the spikes could be colored lighter do they can be seen against the dark night. Also, the levels are very linear, something Sonic has never been about. It's always been about going fast, but also exploration. The game rewards you for doing this by giving you extra lives, or, in the Adventure games, items for your Chao, like animals. The pack has very little alternate paths, which has been a thing even since 1.
@@Ando1428
Yes, but some have upper paths that are faster with less water, or no water, depending on which level it is, and you are rewarded for taking the upper path with more rings, speed, and even extra lives. Yes, the water is there to punish you for falling off the top path, but there should at least be a speedy surface path like Hydrocity Zone for the more skilled players.
@@yellowmello1223 I don't know about that I saw plenty of alternative paths but he just chose to jump throw most stages. He picked all of the balloon paths. Some stages where linear but not all of them. Though I think they were speeding throu b have just to show level design instead of branching paths.
@@Ando1428 this is actually untrue; all of the stages were;
1.) bland, and visually uninteresting; simple straight lines, with spikes or enemies blocking the way, prompting you to move left or right.
2.) very straightforward. these stages only want you to go in one direction. when sonic unleashed did this, the surrounding area and the stage itself had life, and there were things to actually do; in this game, there are literal chained hoop sequences, and chunks where you spend 20 seconds flying in the air.
3.) repetitive; every single stage was the same thing over and over again; except one stage was on water, some stages were in a city, and some stages had pits. apart from these tiny differences, they were all just; run forward, avoid spike, hit enemy
this literally feels like roblox level design, and the person who made this was not even remotely close to the level of even sonic forces, which at least attempted coherency in the level design, clarity in where you're meant to go, somewhat interesting visuals, slightly less repetitive gameplay, and stages that didn't feel like floating lego blocks.
the game can just be summed up as a bunch of floating bricks that sonic jumps from, and sometimes running across a corridor; and for this reason, i don't agree with it; it's philosophy is completely backwards
Me: **normaly playing ashpalt 9**
Blue vivacity: hello there!
General Kenobi, you are a bold one.
@@thelookingcat you beat me to it
Weirdly enough, with the infinity engine, sonic now spends most of his time in the air rather than he does running or even walking for that matter.
All these stages looks like fever dreams. You have floating objects and platforms and this huge ocean of water below. And if you fall in the water, you just sink. You don’t swim at all - you just keep sinking and sinking. You see the light in blurry vision. And when you look down as you sink, it is all pitch black. You don’t see the bottom at all. You sink fast the way you fall in the ocean. You don’t slow down at all. But, then again, a lot of my dreams are like that even when I am not. Always open world-like and real. It’s oddly nostalgic.
A fever dream style stage is more something I would expect from a special stage and not a regular stage.
@@yellowmello1223 Yeah. I think it is a cool game nonetheless. Still need a few kinks to fix, though. Can't wait for SAGE 2020, cause there is going to be a lot of fan games releasing. Sonic Battle R V3 is one of those games I can't wait to play for myself. ouo
Well Sonic can't swim sooo
Boosting hurts my ears and I don’t like how when you kill a enemy the game slows down but besides that looks amazing
Its cinematic like that
I like how it hurts my ears. Brings realism to it
I'm so happy for you having 200K subs!
"sEgA sHoULd hIrE ThAt gUy"
I hate those guys who say that, no they shouldn't. the game ( in my opinion ) Is pretty, but it very lackluster in game designs. There is a lot of empty space in levels and not really fun to play.
I really don't like the slow motion gimmick.
Also, the lighting looks TERRIBLE. A lot of the time the sun is so bright or the shadows so dark that I literally can't see what's going on.
Your right
True and terrible you don't see a dry stump
I was thinking the same thing
Finally something other than just blindly saying "SEGA HIRE THIS MAN!11!!!1!!"
@@bestbechara8682 Yeah, I agree.
Wow assets in a field with way too much bloom and reflection, these fangames certainly are unique
When sonic runs on water I be thinking he a ninja from the hidden leaf village
Lol, good one.
Lmao
These levels doesn't look like levels you'd see in a Sonic game. They look far too realistic for a character like Sonic. The level design looks so simplistic. Just the basic linear path. No branching paths, loops, corkscrews, etc. The enemies barely pose a threat either with most of them being shooters. At least the creator knows how lightning works and knows that grass isn't supposed to be shiny and/or give off a reflective surface. Can't say the same for literally everything else tho.
its just a fan game chill
@@bartsimpson7292 and? I can't give my thoughts about it?
@@souptaels hopefully these are just prototypes for the actual levels
its not even an official thing to be dissected like that
Sim The Hedgebot sonic fantames love focusing on "good lighting" (which makes it hard to see) and always end up making sonic's eyes reflective like a friggin mirror. so weird
That uh... that was a stage pack.
Also, congrats on the 200K subs!
To the creator of the Infinity Engine:
Instead of making time slow for a second after hitting every enemy with boost, make it to where it doesnt do it again for another half second or so so you can still get that satisfying effect without making it annoying.
Also, take away the footstep sound effects while boosting. It'll make it feel like you're going faster and will keep it from being overused. Because it is a satisfying sound effect
And for the launch pads, with how floaty he gets, keep that, but only make it so the COLORED ones do it. So levels can be designed around those special sequences where you can just go crazy. Otherwise, they're like the ones in normal Sonic games where they send you off in a more linear fashion
Havent you heard? The original creator left the project
Oban abandoned the project.
@@entruh4520 Oh that sucks
Congrats on 200K!!! :D
Not really a fan of this engine but still cool, def looks like time was put into it
Why? What's wrong with UE4?
@@sirbirbton uhh honestly i dont know what a year ago me was thinking
maybe i just didn't like how plain the environment looks, or the fact that the game looks too realistic for a sonic game. like the sunrays sometimes just block ur vision completely
CONGRATULATIONS ON 200K SUBSCRIBERS! 🎂👍

Congratulations for 200k, dude.
Watching this made me feel like in the modern future.
Most of this is a straight line (and forces you to boost like another game) graphics are good tho.
*Forces you to boost*
I saw that.
@@yellowmello1223 HEHEHE
Ok this brings some problems i see not only in the Infinity Engine Framework but with some other fan games:
A lot of unnecessary particles and effects,An overpowered Sonic that would shatter whole levels in seconds or would be awful to control, skills or movements that aren't necessary nor compliments the gameplay and bad level design.
I wish all sonic games had these amazing graphics
SONIC: Gotta go Fast
This game: Gotta stay alive
Congrats for 200.000!
Man its as if people don’t know that newer builds of infinity exist or something
you finally hit 200K congrats
Congrats on 200k subs!
Th fact that it's a fan game and it looks better than sonic unleashed is just crazy
Because this was made in unreal and unleashed was made in 2008?
What's the best combo on UA-cam? Well, 2x Playback Speed and 1080p of course, hahaha.
Yay im happy you hit 200k and i cant wait to see al the levels
There's a bunch of critical comments down here with lots of likes. Yet the video has fewer dislikes than any of those comments have likes.
Sure we see flaws, but we also see you're doing awesome stuff with this game! Keep it up.

Congrats on 200k !!

Whats good bro
@@entruh4520 hey
woah! its look frckin good without that blue filter
Bruh. These levels weren’t designed to be amazing. They were designed to show the engine.. THE CODE. So if the levels are bland and you want sonic to look different or change the lighting. You can do that.
So they are experiments
Miabella Candelaria it’s basically them cramming features into a level to again. Show of the engine.
Sometimes there's a beauty in focus on quantity.
Point of the engine was to be good with slopes, and I barely see any. Point of the engine was to have a good framework for how Sonic interacts with environment, and I see almost none of that.
tardissins F
Congrats on 200k.
I’ll say, I really like how vocal Sonic is here. I feel like that’s something that’s missing from a lot of games after Unleashed.
Could you please tell me where that the Windy and Ripply remix is? I need it...
hello this game cannot be found i am looking for it all over the internet but i cant find it can you help me please?
I wanna play this game how can I get access to it and play it
The ray of sun is too bright when you run towards the sun
Some of these lvls are kinda the same just put in different places
We're making fun of Sonic Forces, yet that casino level literally looks so linear and bland. The tables and chairs are floating into nothingness lmao.
I know this is late but u gotta remember this is a fan game forces is a entire official game made by sega and we didn’t have a boosting game for years and they give us that crap
@@jbeast3480 just because it's a fangame, that doesn't excuse the poor quality of this game. I've seen far better 3D Sonic fangames with more effort, Sonic Utopia being the biggest example as well as Green Hill Paradise.
@@souptaels oh yea I totally agree trust me I don’t think it is a good level but all I’m saying is it’s not as many people working on it as a official company so I wouldn’t expect good quality at least the game as good graphics
@@souptaels I’m not against what ur saying at all I agree ur right u just gotta remember since these people are affiliated with sega they probably wouldn’t try so hard
@@souptaels and gt
These are some quick levels
Ok see I never got past that pitfall in the casino level and I hate that level the water level was manageable at least once you figured out the hit box of the air bubbles e.e
Can they be more creative on level design it's just beach city and water that's it
The boost almost destroyed my ears
How is sega not seeing how beautiful this is
Well, Japanese have their pride I guess. It's a miracle Sega doesn't pull a Nintendo.
Because while this doesn't look bad this isn't what an ideal sonic game should he like, the level design isn't all that interesting and it lacks branching paths and interesting set pieces and level structure, the lighting especially at night time isn't really that great from a gameplay perspective cause as seen in the video it's hard to even see spikes in your way since it's so dark, being honest this isn't all that praiseworthy when compared to some sonic games already made by Sega
@@gamestar6479 ahh ok I understand now
It's just the boost formula with a coat of paint
They really got some nice shades
200k Has arrived, What shall the celebration be?
#RoadTo300k
Yo everyone you shouldn’t really complain about this engine. I mean, it’s obviously meant to look flashy and Sonic is meant to be overpowered. Like, calm down. Sky diving and slow motion look cool. This game is like Just Cause but Sonic. It’s just a power trip.
Have you seen sonic 2020? That game is proof you don't need everything to be flashy for it to be worth playing
Nice gameplay bro
These levels feel like downgraded versions of the extra acts in Sonic Unleashed.
200k subs time for a celebration
The level that starts at about 24:ish minutes, is the best level in this pack.
I think a lot of the level design was taken from another pack
If the lens flare can be disabled, which i'm sure it can be, I think this looks like a sonic game that looks like it can be handled well without trying to be a 3DS game that doesn't exist on the 3DS(*cough*Sonic Forces*cough*). I think SEGA could take notes from this. One issue I do have with Sonic though in the underwater levels. Instead of breaking a shield crate activating the power, why not allow it where shields can be stored in some type of inventory for later use?
this would be a great game design for sonic unleashed 2 if it were released
@that idle shantie guy you re right time for a SONIC party 200k subs and we got there ill sub
15:33 Excellent Sync 👏
Fans: am open world sonic game would not work
Sonic infinity engine wants to know your location
well, an open world sonic game WOULDNT work. this game is a great example of that
What about sonic project hero
@@totodile4271
That's a test game so far.
That feels better than every official sonic game did you two even play it
@@totodile4271
I'm not discrediting it, I'm just saying that classifying as open world wouldn't work right now due to it being a test game.
I SO WISH THIS ENGINE WAS BACKED BY SEGA 😭 no other Sonic engine quite does it for me like Infinity; I just want this to be made into a complete game where the player base can continue to make their own stages and share them with the community
I love the aesthetics of these stages, though they have too many enemies and balloons for my taste, but most importantly i love how huge and free ended each level design is that really embraces the boost culture of this game!! 🤩 like 10:50 is just ABSOLUTELY STUNNING and 15:05 is BRILLIANT stage design 🤯
Yeah no placing giant springs on a couple rectangles is not really good stage design
I'm glad this man used the Infinity Engine for the sake of gameplay, but that doesn't compensate how it's all quanity over quality. Infact, there's barely quality. While playing through these levels. There were times were it was fun but eventually got bored since this fangame's level design is EXTREMELY repetitive. How the difficulty is being structured is condemning, GUN beetles fire alot of projectiles, the game doesn't save your lives after completing a level and instead starts with you having 0 LIVES, TOO MANY SPIKES, a linear row of enemies with a spike at the end. The performance is alright but almost all the levels don't run at a solid framerate.
I've been a huge fan of the Infinity Engine but I don't like how the reputation is getting. The only fangame getting my hopes really up is Sonic Revolution's/Noto G's upcoming Season 2 Adventure Pack Chaos Clash. As for Sonic 2020, it's up there but the style over substance mannn.
3:39 rests your case honestly; it just about sums up the engine
@@hihi-nm3uy eeehhh, I can see wayy pass that tbh. If this fangame focuses on quality over quality. Why bother if the fangame itself is already bad by level design and might just include performance.
What I wanna see is someone using the framework's controls and physics to be utilized in a way that you couldn't possibly do in boost games like unleashed or Gens. Utilized in a level that involves around it's controls and physics made for the framework. Maybe if Oban made a level demo for the framework, then maybe the fangame creators using the framework would even follow the level design formula he did. Though I can't blame him since 1 it's his choice for him to not do since he choice to cease development instead and 2 he gets to do whatever he wants with it.
We have to remember that the design process for this engine, as well as the engine itself, is still in its infancy. There are a lot of things to be figured out within it. It's not going to be perfect. Same with any game or engine, Sonic or not.
Alot of this looks like it's fixed in Infinity+, and I think they'll have an update for SAGE
Some levels honestly look too easy, others look trollish as hell...
Definitely a lack of balancing in this.
Blue Vivacity: posts a normal video
Me, who realized he reached 200k subs: *Spams DUDE YOU GOT 200K SUBS*
Finally 200k is more like it!😉👍
there is no flow in most of these. the stage builds kill was potential the engine has. the engine isn't build for stages like this. yes the engine is incomplete and yes there are somethings people wish they could turn off in options like boost muffling and slow-mo, but if the stage was better build i don't think there would be much issue. if you had to hit less enemies with boost then the slow mo wouldn't be so prevalent if the stage wasn't so linear then you wouldn't have to hit boost so much just to clear the distance. the stages are just to copy paste simple. inspired yes, absolutely, but not great at utilizing what the engine could do to have a more enjoyable experience.
personally, if we really need to keep the boost mechanic, id like to see a boost mechanic where like in the passed you get your speed from flow and momentum. once you hit "terminal velocity" you can hit a boost button to reach a new speed that can be maintained threw momentum. maybe rings and enemies to, would help if running threw these kept the speed going just a little longer. as far as slowing down and stopping while in this new boost speed you got me beat there, maybe just hit the button again, but it sounds to "meh" to be a decent fix.
Am I the only one that is so stressed with this gameplay?
The lights and shadows aren’t unable to recognise where your going, some animations are kinda...meh, but the worst of all is the controls.
Doesn’t even work well mostly of the times and it’s so easy to skip literally mostly of the part of the levels with just using the turbo.
I mean of course the graphics are amazing, they would be perfect for a cinematic, but I can’t say the same with the rest...
That's not much background details which is bad because that's what makes sonic games good
hey bro the game disappered on gamejolt plz send new link thx

You ever felt like playing a sonic flight simulator, well, this as close as it gets; or at least they feel as if D-Speed and M-Speed are joke compared to this. On the other side, the levels are so simple and void that they're barely interesting, and the lighting on the spikes is horrible
