This scene shows that Ekko was the one person Jinx still thought highly of. In all of her other encounters, her memories are of pain and solitude. When she confronts Ekko, her memories are fun. She doesn't look at him like the demons she sees Vi and her brothers to be. Ekko is the smiling face from her childhood. She wasn't afraid. She was happy to go back to the old days. Then Ekko pinned her... She realized he's not the nice little kid she remembered him to be, hence the terror in her eyes as she's getting her shit kicked in. Ekko was the one friend she believed she still had up until that moment. Ekko believed Powder to be completely gone. All that remained was Jinx. That belief changed when he saw the look of betrayal in her eyes. All of this in just 2 minutes of the most beautifully constructed fight scene in the entire show.
Excellent comment telling the facts of that fight. I for like over an week am theorising about many stuff also about this scene and you just have written it perfectly.
This is the best artistically executed scene in the entire show. It is both emotionally character driven, and a SICK action driven fight. I love seeing the multimedia stylized animation here, paired with the equally awesome music by Denzel Curry, it really blew me away. The way they incorporated the 2D animation with the 3D and adding flashbacks from past, to present, to future, reflecting and representing the drastic evolutions of the two characters. Plot wise, it works. Character wise, it works. Animation wise, it works. Musically wise, it works. Just an absolute masterpiece of a fight scene, and an animation that is sure to be discussed for years to come.
Knowing who Ekko is and what he can do, I interpreted the stylistically different section as him trying out different possible futures, the children fighting actually happened and was his view of things, so when he was shot in that he rewound time back and took the better path. But maybe at this point in his timeline he can't do that yet? idk! It was badass either way
It's also a great reference to ekko's powers in league. Visually representing his ability to do over a fight without him actually having any time magic yet
@@pimpnlovepimpn4461 no. The cartoony stuff was jst flashback. I think a game they used to play when they were little. The time rewind part was peobably just a tease of ekkos ability in the future.
@@pimpnlovepimpn4461 nope he didn't reverse time here. It was just him baiting Jinx/Powder into playing the game they used to play when they were kids. The stylized sequence is just him remembering the way they used to play the game and since Ekko baited her into playing the game and him knowing how she plays, it made her predictable. BUT, this is a big hint towards Ekkos' upcoming powers.
I love how this scene depicts the breaking down of Jinx’s emotions. She’s Jinx when she attacks Vi. She’s both when Ekko goads her into playing their old game. And then when Ekko finally manages to best Jinx, she’s Powder, exposing her as the scared child she’s been hiding.
I think that's just her being manipulative and basically doing puppy eyes. She did the same thing to Caitlyn at the end by making herself look defenseless. Jinx is basically protected by plot armor at this point because while a lot of them could kill her, they cant bring themselves to.
@@myk-popper2960 there’s a difference in her attitude. When Ekko first pulls out his watch, you can see a spark of nostalgia in her eyes, condescending, but not deceitful. And listen to the music. When Ekko has her pinned it’s slow and somber, full of remorse. But when Jinx does her puppy eyes, it’s an unstable, eerie music box slowly building tension. And watch her face: Ekko: actually desperate, then resigned as she arms a grenade. Caitlyn: she has her head tilted down, her bangs partially hide her face, she looks every bit the deceitful genius we know as Jinx. Not to mention context. In one, she was defeated by someone she’d always trusted and knew was weaker than her, making her feel betrayed. Whereas she was already hostile to Caitlyn, and was inclined to use underhanded tactics to defeat her.
@@myk-popper2960 no that was the last we saw of powder within her. She did it with Cait in a very different sense. She was being malicious with her since she's pretty much lost all sense of innocence. Here? Powder is still in there. You can see it in her eyes. Jinx's eyes changing color is symbolic for her fall to complete madness. Here, it's a heartfelt moment for sure
@@myk-popper2960 this scene seemed much more of desperation with an unspoken: "I'm sorry," to Ekko for what she was about to do (end them both). Frantic, panicking, apologetic, afraid. With Caitlyn, it was very much malicious. Her "puppy dog" eyes and expression was meant to convey a fake: "ok ok, you got me. I give up." To get Cait to relax just enough so that she could utilize her new abilities to disable her. There was no genuine fear there; it was a very obvious: "Ive got you."
" when Ekko finally manages to best Jinx" I thought the same. But I read a better interpretation that when the flashback of Ekko being hit in the chest was shown, it was hinting Jinx was capable of shooting him right there but the Powder in her didn't want to kill him, that's the only reason why he didnt got hit.
@@MeapMR it’s upsetting how Jinx is just Powder who’s extremely confused at times, but has her insanity take over and hurt those she cares about. I feel so bad for jinx the entire show because she deserved way better
Jinx and powder are one an the same. This is what Vi refuses to accept and what Ekko accepted but was not ready to face. The fact that jinx accepted the duel and recognized it was the game they used to played is more than a enough proof Jinx is just Powder but grown up. She just had a bad and messed up upbringing. Not only she has mental problems, complexes and severe separation anxiety, on top of that she was raised as the top enforcer for a criminal organization …
@@ludouble9299 thank you for this honestly may I added that jinx and powder are one in the same she is powder just grown up but she just doesn’t want to be reminded of the old stuff because of how much she was called a liability and always making things worse then mylo always belittling her saying she isn’t good at anything that’s what gives her anxiety feeling weak and defensively and her childhood guilt she chooses jinx because she is strong and a new self built confidence then her old self
Even if the kid Jinx used to be IS completely gone, she was that person once and she meant a lot to him. It's easy to talk a big game but a lot harder when it's you who has to look at them and pull the trigger.
The struggle between needing to stop this madwoman from destroying all he holds dear and clinging onto the hope that his childhood friend still exist inside of her.
He placed Powder in the center of that mural because she is the person he had to watch slowly loose her mind. This scene shows that even though to him she is the enemy, he still has hope for her. After all his community is about second chances.
It's pretty cool how they showed that even though Ekko hasn't been able to invent the Hextech Z-Drive that lets him go back in time, he's still gifted at being able to look into the past in tense situations and make better decisions for the future. He remembered how the fights with Jinx played out when they were children and finessed her with that knowledge.
I don't think it's Heimer that helps finish the Z-Drive. I think Heimer helps him conceptualize it but something happens, he gets sent to a realm of Time and Zilean appears during his accidental pursuit of this Technomagic and helps him finish it.
When i first saw this scene i interpreted the grenade as her last resort, and her expression was saying sorry to an old friend, but "we both go down together." Not sure it was only for her demise.
When Ekko brought out the stopwatch, Jinx immediately knew what it was. This fight was a game they played as kids. Ekko remembers how it plays and wins the fight, but its even deeper that. Jinx shot the same first 3 shots as a kid, but the last one she did not (the one that hit ekko) I like to think that Jinx does this because she wanted out hence the grenade was for herself as she smiles at Ekko one last time.
It was more about character growth on ekkos side. Jynx is very deadly, but shes more of a thinker and tactician than a fighter. She can fight, but isn't as tough as her sister or any other fighters that solely rely on there fighting ability. Ekko was the better fighter and I like to think he used her mental illness and the watch to trick her into fighting in a way that he knew would be predictable.
nice catch! we see that most of Silcos goons favor knives and pipes as their weapons whereas Jinx seems to be the one who favors guns over everyone else, so it makes sense for him to wear armor specifically for the occasion, he has to fight the girl he lost to as a kid due to her marksmanship and it saves his life before this simply as a happy accident. The cool difference here though is that he proves it wasn't even necessary to have it when it came to her as he learns from his mistakes and beats her psychologically through the same game they played as kids. To take it further he might even favor the pipe he carries because its useful in hitting her grenades away
So Ekko, with no money, no formal education or training was badass enough to build his own goblin gliders non-lethal crystal weapons and could freaking DODGE BULLETS as a normal human TEENAGER?!?! There are badass superheros and then there's freaking Ekko...
@@arnav9192 The assistant thing and the training thing is only a small part, give that same experience to other people and they still won’t Achieve what Ekko did, he’s a literally genius and that’s why he’s a champion.
I'm a huge Ekko fan and always have been ever since they dropped Seconds but the series made me love the character even more. It took his best aspects and emphasized on them (not to mention this new hairstyle suits him very well)
What's crazy about it if you're actually paying attention in arcane ekko is driving the entire plot for it s*** he sparked off the plot by following Jayce then telling Vi about it, then he told her where Silco took Vander, and that's just act 1!
2:09 You can hear the bomb getting kicked away. And this scene was just UGH! Heartbreaking, you can see how Jinx just wanted everything to end. Her misery, her pain, all of it.
Their facial animations are absolutely phenomenal. How grim and set Ekko is when he looks down, before he smirks and drops the stopwatch. The way Jinx's face looks when she recognizes the move before she laughs and raises her gun. It's something they've done before, many times, just a game between two childhood friends. And look at them now. Amazing.
If Vi really meant to not leave Jinx again, it should’ve been Ekko that went with Cait and Vi needed to confront Jinx. I feel like this was their actual last chance in the show to restore the sister relationship.
To be fair, Vi just barely survived being shot at by Jinx. Ik its easy to think she can try harder to reach her sister, but when Jinx pushes her away what is she supposed to do?
This fight also represents how Powder has been stuck in the past caused by the trauma she experienced. She made the exact same movements when she was younger, while Ekko moves forward and learns from those experiences. I also feel that even though Ekko says that "she's Jinx now", he still can't help feeling guilty with what happened. But he's been through that whole thought process, as evidence I think when he tells Vi that "that's a way to drive yourself crazy", probably because he felt that way initally too. It all comes through in this one scene. It's all just the sad reality of their situation, which is why the ending of the fight is just so god damn sad.
I was so hyped with this fight since the moment he pulls out the clock and they both laugh, the connection in there was real and the time back one of the best references i have ever seen without feeling forced, then ekko punches jinx and my hype changes in one second to one of the saddest moments i saw in the show, what after all he saids to vi, he still could not beat powder. God jinx is such a sad character and all that envolves her.
I love the fact that this series is emotional too ….ekko said that powder changed and he was willing to fight her …but when he saw the look in her eyes being overwhelmed with childhood memories he hesitated
I'm not sure about this but at 2:09 you can hear something, its like Ekko swing and hit the bomb to move it away from them. I think that was the reason why they both survived.
Dude I actually wondered this. I couldn't figure out how Jinx only got a blackened face from a point blank grenade. You just closed one of the few plot holes I had by noticing that
I’ve never seen a fight scene so unique and brilliantly creative in a long time. What a way to illustrate their relationship in less than a minute. This entire series is an artistic masterpiece.
I'd like to think ekko saw that powder was still in there, and jinx realised what she had become, she no longer wanted to win the fight, she just wanted it all to end.
I also wanted to say that since we saw Ekko walking with a foot/leg injury (when he met heimer), I assume he may have kicked the explosive away from both himself and jinx, saving them both. (He could have easily ran away himself). This would be quite touching, since he said he didn't think jinx could be saved. It would also make sense as to why Jinx's arm isn't entirely blown off considering how close she was to the grenade.
everytime I come back to check out some of these scenes and moments I notice another call back to something from earlier that highlights how amazing the work on this series is: when Ekko stops hitting jinx and stares at her the music that plays in the background is Silco's drowning theme making a clever callback to the beginning of episode 3 when Silco talks about drowning. When Jinx pulls out the pin of her grenade to take Ekko with her you can almost hear the words Silco said about the voice you hear 'Have you had enough?'
There is so much expressed in this scene with zero dialogue. First off, earlier Ekko says Powder is gone and there is only Jinx. But he clearly uses the stopwatch first to let 'jinx' know he's going to play a game. Yes, the game they used to play when they were younger. This proves that deep down Ekko still knows Powder is still there. The Ekko hits jinx and beats her down stopping to realize that Powder is still there too. The look jinx gives Ekko is the look of giving up. Like she is done with everything in the world. It's the sadness of seeing Vi leave with Caitlyn, truly abandoning her again. It's the look of her best childhood friend Ekko out to kill her. She gives up and the last grenade is not there to kill Ekko, but to end all of it.
@@grzegorzpawinski5806 He's saying that it was the last piece of the child she used to be. It was the last piece of her innocence projecting outwardly in desperation to be saved.
See, this is probably the best fight scene in this show. And the show has dope ass fight scenes. If they animated this like the Vi vs Sevika fight, no one would have complained. It still would have been a banger. Instead, they chose to use this fight as an opportunity to tell the story of the combatants' pasts, as well as their futures. Ekko gains the ability to time travel sometime after Arcane. The scene rewinding foreshadows that. More importantly than the foreshadowing though, is the flashback. Powder and Ekko have known each other for years. Ekko even had a crush on Powder when they were kids (based on ingame quotes). The paintball flashback scene shows just how close they were. And it all culminates in Ekko doing a sick ass corkscrew and beating the everloving shit out of Jinx, until he sees that Powder might still be in there. Fucking incredible.
I'd say Jayce and Vi vs the Chemtanks is at least as good for how well it expresses the emotions of the characters without words, and the depth of what the fight means for the world and the characters involved. And also because it's such a badass action sequence.
What's better, Ekko was the one person she didn't hate. This flashback wasn't one of pain or torment. It's a flashback of a happier time. Jinx wasn't remembering trauma... She was having fun. POWDER was having fun. Ekko was the only person apart from Silco that Powder had fond memories of. The only other person she was happy around.
@@bluedreamkush2392 It's not fleshed out in the games, just alluded to. In league, seems like just a crush. In Legends of Runeterra, he says he misses her so much
I might be wrong, but I think when Ekko has his fist raised and sees Powder scared and bloody is the last time her eyes are more grey like normal, or at least one of the last times. Powder died in this scene, she got saved by Singed but only Jinx came back.
@@artfaist Then what was the point of the final scene where she made Vi choose between chairs labelled "Powder" and "Jinx", having her decide by choosing to kill either Caitlyn or Silco?
@@100organicfreshmemes5 Jinx and Powder are the same girl but different aspects of her, powder is the side of her that was the innocent little kid that loves her sister, someone who's dependent on her sister even and needs that love and affection she desperately craves. Jinx on the other hand is the personality that covers powder up as a defense mechanism, the innocence is gone and all that's left in her mind is anger, loneliness and a need for validation and to prove she isn't a "jinx" the name itself is her way of mocking the title. Jinx and Powder are effectively bundles of specific emotions and trauma that are tightly rooted in her mind, both try to occupy the same space in her head but can't fully do so. Both sides of her serve a purpose and therefore she swaps between both personalities depending on the situation. AKA both bundles come out as different mechanisms of her that are perceived as separate psyche to viewers and characters alike because in a way they are When she tries to choose between Jinx and Powder it's her way of trying to deal with this turmoil inside her the only way she can process it, by deciding to cut out the other side. The dilemma with it of course is she can't do it herself as it's the whole thing about her, she's too dependent on the validation from Silco and Vi. She needs the love of them but can't have both and thus forces them to choose for her, to prove that they need her for a change, that she's enough for them. It's why she chooses Jinx at the end, because Silco proved he loved her unconditionally, that she never needed to prove to him she was worth his love "you're perfect" he said and finally giving her the independence to drive out Powder and stay as Jinx. It's tragic because in order to heal the damage she needs to cut Jinx out as well if she's ever going to move on and process her grief.
I feel like jinx had mentally disconnected herself from powder so much, but when ekko took her down and was ready to kill her, powder realized how much she truly messed up and wanted out. Hence the grenade
I don't know if it's just me, but the way Jinx breathes and screams while trying to do something shatters my heart. Since her childhood she couldn't outdo any of her friends or her sister. She's been trying as hard as she could, but every time she failed to show her power to them. Always a burden. Always someone who "makes things worse". I can imagine what a gigantic level or resentment she's been experiencing her whole life, this is exactly what drove her crazy. The endless and burning resentment.
Notice Jinx’s eye change at the end showing that it’s powder (grey eyes) as opposed to her regular jinx (blue or pink). she was powder in that moment, and Ekko saw that, powder wanted to die at peace but silco stole that from her
One of the best parts about ekko is he faces the reality of situations, he doesn't bother with the cliche "it doesn't have to be this way" speech because he knows she's too far gone
Ekko thought he could destroy Jinx. But he forgot that a small sliver of Powder is still there. When she was on the ground, he didnt see the person who blew up the Firelights, he saw a scared little girl who was his best friend.
@@dratuang2962 idk ….happened to me before …cause it’s a series about a game …some guys are like …”imagine getting chills over some fiction or something”….I play this game for 10 years straight ….I was there when vi and jinx got release (ekko etc) …this shit rocks dude and I was hoping for an animation with vi and jinx fighting, but now we have a whole god damn series
This is the coolest scene in the show, it showcases his time manipulation without saying hey he can turn back time , it shows flashes of what’s about to happen and then in the take he gets it right it just goes
this is the most well executed use of a flash back i have ever seen.. everything is 10/10 the music, the story telling, the art style.. when i first saw ekko in act 1 i was puzzled by how they can portray his powers seeing as hextech was still in its early stage its impossible he could have used his powers by the end of the season.. totally unexpected
I love the way Ekko swings his watch and how everything is in sync with the music... Then it cuts out and the actual fight is fast, unceremonious and brutal. Masterful.
One thing I adore about this scene, that I feel not a lot comment on, is the use of sound, and the shift that happens when it cuts. It starts upbeat with the taunt, the ticking of the clock making a beat, as Jinx and Ekko both remember the game they used to play, and prepare to do the same. It is fun as we watch the past future and present all in one, in the beautiful 2d animation. We can see Jinx and Powder having fun. It feels childlike, nostalgic. It is all just a game. But once the clock rewinds, and we are brought back to reality, the music cuts, and the brief fight between the two happens. There is no heroic, fun music as Ekko and Jinx fight. It is quiet, until Ekko defeats Jinx having her pinned down, seeing powder. There is notning fun or great about their fight. It is not like a carefree game anymore. They are enemies now, despite both deep down clearly caring about each other. Just.. Fuck this scene is so great!
I never realised this until I watched this scene for a number of times now. Notice before ekko hits jinx. The cinematography of that moment 1:39 and 1:09 , Light and dark, prey vs predator, good vs evil, was cleverly portrayed in those few moments.
I love the extreme, quick, and stark change that Jinx goes through at the start. She’s angry, pissed, and feeling betrayed from Vi “leaving” again. She starts by venting out issues and targeting them at Ekko, only for him to remind her of the game they played when they were kids. Similar to nerf gun fights or water gun fights, it’s a simple thing you’d play with friends that meant nothing to you at the time other than just some lighthearted completion and fun. So, the moment that Ekko mimics that game they played, Jinx is surprised, hit with some laughter as if she’s remembering who they were as little kids. She takes up the same stance when she was a kid, standing in the same position. When they fight, it’s almost like a “rehearsed” retelling of them as kids. The change in who they are becomes so vivid the moment that Ekko beats Jinx to the ground. Unlike when they were kids, they’ve changed. But the sight of what could be “Powder” halts Ekko in his tracks. Even in game, Ekko has a voice line saying he used to have a crush on her. And even if Arcane would be considered non-canon, they were childhood friends. He’s seeing his childhood and what made it livelier for him right before his eyes. Right in front of him, he was ready to kill Jinx, the person raised by Silco and the person that hurt the people he cared for, the Firelights. However, the sight of Powder still being there stops him and he pauses. He just contemplates in his body language. He’s wondering who she is and if the person he would play with is still in there somewhere. But, Powder finally realizes what’s happened and wants to end it. She wants out. Which is why that final desperate hint of a smile lays on her lips before she finally sets off her bomb is so damn painful. It’s her bloodied and desperate cry for help. And not only that, in the flashback sequence we see two creatures behind each of them. A firelight behind Ekko and a crow behind Powder. Besides the dark and light contrast in the real conflict, Ekko has taken firelights as a symbol for greatness. He’s using them to inspire people harmed by Shimmer. On the other hand, crows are a common bird that appear in Jinx scenes. When she visits the place with a punching bot (no idea what it’s called), she shoots the crow that startles her. In the final confrontation where she decides to be Jinx, not Powder, crows show up on the roof. When Vi and Jinx reunite, a crow calls out in that scene. When she accidentally kills Shaco, the crows fly off. My theory is that the crows are a symbol/representation of Powder. She shoots “Powder” when it startles her in the old hideout place. Powder “came back” at the end and arrives, only for them to finally fly off, signifying that Powder is gone now.
I'm not sure if anyone else noticed the factor that "time" played in this but it was amazing to see ekkos iconic power he is known for in the lore and game to be shown without his zero drive even existing. The stopwatch was a good analogue for it, as we see it wave back and forth like a clock, rewinding to the time when ekko and powder were kids. Then we get that BEAUTIFUL sequence of ekko foretelling jinxes movements as he relives that moment of his past of the game him and powder must have played numerous times in their childhood in a matter of seconds. before it rewinds to the time they are in now and ekko executes the fight as if he had done so numerous times before, because he has, and wins. What I love the most about this though, is that it shows that ekko was always who he was even before getting the zero drive. he was always the boy who shattered time and that scene proves it!
This fight was epic. They showed you what happened in the past when they were kids. This let you know that they used to be friends, but also demonstrates how Ekko was able to use his intellect to anticipate her moves. Then it all winds back and the real thing is over in seconds. The animators, director, and whoever did the storyboards need more praise for this scene.
I honestly find it great art direction that the scene starts off as these pastel colors, loud music, and smiling faces on both ends, flickering between childhood and present in a wildly exciting fashion. This leads us to believe maybe this is a great exciting fight, only to literally send us crashing back into reality where only the sound of gunfire and the loud thuds of ekko brutally beating jinx can be heard. It’s almost like the show wanted us to think this was some grand, ceremonious moment, but no, it’s just two friends in a horribly violent and cruel situation that neither wanted to be in.
This reminds me of the Sherlock Holmes movies where Sherlock plans his every attack before actually doing, quirky and had it's own twist at the end. But in this it's not just planning of a amazing detective, it just looks like planning from a child playing a game, fun, vibrant, and that single mistake at the end. But then it cuts back to reality the music stops and everything returns to the bleak colors, the time to reminisce childhood is now over, the friendship was over, only enemies and the intent of killing remained until they locked eyes. For a little moment, they were both sorry for how they turned out to be..
@@darthgamer6239 It's also what Mr Hatty pointed out though, not just a reference to his ult. In fact, I'd say it's a lot more of what OP said. There are layers of storytelling to unpack in this scene and the reference to his ult is only one of them.
If Batman was the Green Goblin... And you know, NOT a billionaire. Which makes Ekko even MORE impressive, pulling superhero/villain level tech and moves with NO MONEY and NO TRAINING.
This was by far my favorite scene in the entire series. There are so many good ones. But this one just made me fall on love with the character portrayal. How Jinx instantly knows what Ekko means when he shows the watch, like "Oh. We're playing *the* game?" Just superb. The art direction is phenomenal.
Aside from the amazing art in this fight sequence, the music is just epic especially with the way Ekko's watch and Jinx's gun just introduce the song 🤩 I keep coming back to this
I've just watched Episode 7 and I immediately came to youtube to rewatch this scene. I can now tell this is the best animation sequence I've seen since Spiderverse. This is huge. It's game changer!
It's so amazing seeing EKKO transition from a kid's face in a fun way calculating ducking a paintball vs an angry and determined EKKO to stop jinx @ 1:02. Masterpiece visual art is an absolute understatement for this entire interactions.
Why is this scene so good ? Well simply because we didn't really see many scenes for these two on screen and yet with all these short memories as kids and with thier facial expressions in the end , we all felt how beautiful thier friendship was and how tragical it is now. This is so well written 👏
The entire show was a fucking Masterpiece. From episode 3's explosion scene, where it kept replaying it, first showing the good consequences, then the bad, then the absolute worst... I knew at that moment I was in for a ride. I cannot believe how well executed this was. I never expected it to live up to the hype that I myself gave it, but it did that and more. Take the Memorial wall for instance. It's the SAME wall from Ekko's champion teaser trailer titled "Seconds". This fight scene specifically was a great way to show ekko's power over time, without actually giving him that power, which may very well be coming with season two from where I last saw Heimerdinger. It also was a great way to show the friendship between Ekko and Jinx for those that didn't watch the "Enemy" music video. I can go on for hours about every individual scene of every episode, and I have talked for hours about it already IRL, but for now, this is all for me random internet people skipping over my comment to read shorter ones.
Arcane is defined as: Understood by few; mysterious or secret. But this scene. I’m sure definitely a lot more than a few understood the outstanding amount of work in sound, design, animation and artistic style that went into this scene
Another thing his facial expression’s and body language was the same as the facial expression and body language that jinx gave her sister. But instead she doesn’t seem pissed to seem him but full of joy. For example when she tied up her sister she gave off that same vibe as she giving echo now. I truly deep down feel like she honestly didn’t want to hurt echo.

Knowing who Ekko is and what he can do, I interpreted the stylistically different section as him trying out different possible futures, the children fighting actually happened and was his view of things, so when he was shot in that he rewound time back and took the better path. This show, what a way to showcase their friendship in such a small amount of time. No fight in this show goes without passion!
Did he just reverse time ?
True, I learned a lot about their friendship from the "Enemy" Music video from imagine dragons, but this episode really drove it home.
He didn't rewind time, he did however play out the fight in his head ahead of time based on the past experiences he had with powder.
Ekko told Vi that Powder is dead, only Jinx remain but he himself couldn't finish Jinx in this scene
Ekko saw a glimpse of powder. He knew she was still in there.

He placed Powder in the center of that mural because she is the person he had to watch slowly loose her mind. This scene shows that even though to him she is the enemy, he still has hope for her. After all his community is about second chances.
It’s ironic that it’s about second chances with the whole time theme, but honestly brilliant too
The mural was for people they had lost. She was there on the mural signifying Powder was dead and only Jinx remains.
He's skillful alright!
He also learned how to do a cool dodge/flip
@@Majin_Koolaid Yeah those help too

Ekko and Jinx are geniuses in thiers own way
The expression on Jinx's face was powder. You can see her face say goodbye and sorry to Ekko. Powder wanted out, she pulls the grenade for herself.
When i first saw this scene i interpreted the grenade as her last resort, and her expression was saying sorry to an old friend, but "we both go down together." Not sure it was only for her demise.
Plus this is the 3rd time in the show someone took pity on her. Twice was because of the sad face.
Also her eyes were grey
Was thinking the same thing
The merciful thing would be to let her leave.
When a fight scene is also...a WORK OF ART.
Great detail noticing my friend ….this show has countless
Ekko was faster this time, that's why she couldn't get that last shot off. Ekko wasn't using not using the same move.
@@EvilBartXD also it captured how ekko learned this from a memory but used the scene as if he used his ult which he didn't

Just now realizing that Powder indirectly saved Ekkos life from Marcus.
That bullet proof vest must have been because of how often he lost to Powder.
nice catch! we see that most of Silcos goons favor knives and pipes as their weapons whereas Jinx seems to be the one who favors guns over everyone else, so it makes sense for him to wear armor specifically for the occasion, he has to fight the girl he lost to as a kid due to her marksmanship and it saves his life before this simply as a happy accident.
The cool difference here though is that he proves it wasn't even necessary to have it when it came to her as he learns from his mistakes and beats her psychologically through the same game they played as kids. To take it further he might even favor the pipe he carries because its useful in hitting her grenades away
or because he's scared of getting shot in the chest but you do you

@@tm.las371 W Ekko
Their facial animations are absolutely phenomenal. How grim and set Ekko is when he looks down, before he smirks and drops the stopwatch. The way Jinx's face looks when she recognizes the move before she laughs and raises her gun. It's something they've done before, many times, just a game between two childhood friends. And look at them now.
Amazing.
0:36 Jinx's stance. True professional.
The way they foreshadowed his ult with the rewind thing on the childhood memory is just so smart
This show is a fucking masterpiece. it somehow manages to make me feel entirely hyped, and entirely heartbroken in less then 2 minutes.
I love the fact that this series is emotional too ….ekko said that powder changed and he was willing to fight her …but when he saw the look in her eyes being overwhelmed with childhood memories he hesitated
Feels like Powder is saying 'goodbye' to Ekko, playing one more time like when they were kids
This is best animated fight scene in the show which makes me thrilled and cried at the same time😭
I'm not sure about this but at 2:09 you can hear something, its like Ekko swing and hit the bomb to move it away from them. I think that was the reason why they both survived.

I think this was the last time she was Powder :(

I personally liked vander's last stand more. But this one is really good too.

AKA both bundles come out as different mechanisms of her that are perceived as separate psyche to viewers and characters alike because in a way they are
When she tries to choose between Jinx and Powder it's her way of trying to deal with this turmoil inside her the only way she can process it, by deciding to cut out the other side.
@@primarybufferpanel4468 I know that, I wasn't being literal. Good in-depth explanation of her character though.

Ekko: "I used to have a crush, until you started talking to the gun."
Notice Jinx’s eye change at the end showing that it’s powder (grey eyes) as opposed to her regular jinx (blue or pink). she was powder in that moment, and Ekko saw that, powder wanted to die at peace but silco stole that from her
One of the best parts about ekko is he faces the reality of situations, he doesn't bother with the cliche "it doesn't have to be this way" speech because he knows she's too far gone
and then he hesitated....
Ekko thought he could destroy Jinx. But he forgot that a small sliver of Powder is still there. When she was on the ground, he didnt see the person who blew up the Firelights, he saw a scared little girl who was his best friend.

@0:17 Ekko’s clock ticking transitioning into the music is so simple yet so cool
Good catch, nothing in this show is just meaning less, every little detail is significant.
It's a homage to Ekkos ability in the game normally he can time travel but obv he can't yet so this was the show getting around that
@@darthgamer6239 It's also what Mr Hatty pointed out though, not just a reference to his ult. In fact, I'd say it's a lot more of what OP said. There are layers of storytelling to unpack in this scene and the reference to his ult is only one of them.
This could be a generic fight scene. But the creative direction here, wow I'm speechless at how amazing it is
0:43 can't handle the amount of cute
Ayo 😳
I can't stop seeing Ekko as the Batman of Zaun.
If Batman was the Green Goblin...
And you know, NOT a billionaire.
Which makes Ekko even MORE impressive, pulling superhero/villain level tech and moves with NO MONEY and NO TRAINING.
Lmaoo zac is the batman of zaun
@@Simmons8519 So like the miles Morales with the zero drive as a reaction time and spider sense.
Ekko is fcking awesome.
the best scene in the whole show and one of my favorite scenes in any show ever aired
It's sadder when you check the official soundtrack after the rap scene is called "Old Friend".
One of the Best Fight scene i Ever Seen in Anime World.
This scene blew my mind. Immediate goosebumps.
When I first saw this scene I didn’t know how I felt about it. Its been keeping me coming back to it and I love it more each time.
2:30 Wound on Jinx´s neck, in the shape of "Vi". Never noticed it before!
This scene is unbelievablele it is so beautiful it shows you how they were friends and their feelings in Two minutes
did she wanted to die with ekko? when ekko stop attacking her, she knew right there that he still cares about her
I think in that moment, she just wanted to die, but not necessarily with Ekko. Thats probably why she looked so scared and devastated
the combination of music, violence and emotion made this fucking masterpeace.
Very few scenes look better the second time watching, this one is one of those few scenes.
This was simply a beautiful watch
Can't stop rewatching it
Ekko gives me Static shock vibes is that valid
Almost forgot to watch this today
Best scene in Act 3 change my mind
How time past passed by and how it changed us.
This was by far my favorite scene in the entire series. There are so many good ones. But this one just made me fall on love with the character portrayal. How Jinx instantly knows what Ekko means when he shows the watch, like "Oh. We're playing *the* game?" Just superb. The art direction is phenomenal.
Aside from the amazing art in this fight sequence, the music is just epic especially with the way Ekko's watch and Jinx's gun just introduce the song 🤩 I keep coming back to this
The greatest scene of any form of media, ever made.
The way I went absolutely feral watching this scene dude cinematic brilliance
Why is this scene so good ?
Well simply because we didn't really see many scenes for these two on screen and yet with all these short memories as kids and with thier facial expressions in the end , we all felt how beautiful thier friendship was and how tragical it is now.
This is so well written 👏
I could watch this single clip whole day on repeat and it would never cease to impress me.
PREACH
Arcane is defined as: Understood by few; mysterious or secret. But this scene. I’m sure definitely a lot more than a few understood the outstanding amount of work in sound, design, animation and artistic style that went into this scene
the fact that the game was supposed to be a friendly game now its a death game.
Easily one of the best scenes in the entire show.
that jynx face at the end made me cry, what a show...
this scene was the most touching. since it shows them play fighting as kids, now fighting as adults, so sad to see how far they came apart...
Whomever come up with this idea for this scene is a genius
