      He grew up breathing that air in the mines of the undercity. Somehow, he developed some resistance. This, plus the fact that he situates himself in the middle of The Lanes and lives like an Under-sider. The Chembarrons situate themselves high above the lanes and even filter fresh air to themselves, they live like, "Top-siders," and thus can not handle the air.

      I think Sevika would be better for that, she has the same objectives as Silco, maybe she will lead now that Silco is dead, Jinx is kind like Darius, he is the hand of Noxus, the general, a power house ready to cleave their enemies, while Swain is the one that is in charge and leading the nation to greatness... Jinx is the Nuke of Zaun, she is too powerful now augmented with shimmer, but she needs someone to guide her... Sevika and Jinx don't like each other (At least for now) but maybe they could work that out (Zaun needs Jinx to be independent, Piltover fears her) But her mind is F*ked now, maybe too dangerous to try lead/control.

      Spoilers.
      It’s possible Jinx could take over the undercity as leader in season 2 because from what I saw, it seems after Silco’s death, she had gained a sense of clarity, it was the most sane I have seen her. When she spoke to Vi and launched that rocket, she knew exactly what she was doing, and now that she has chosen to be Jinx, she no longer has the conflict within herself about being Powder or not. Jinx is all that remains and if that’s the case, now that she has nothing pulling her back and forth, she might be much more stable and able to lead Zaun, with hopefully Sevika’s help. I could be wrong of course, but she just seemed much more sane in her final scenes.

    Silco's disgust at the Chem Barons is quite understandable, given the type of person he is, and how he grew up. Before Silco rose to power, the Undercity was a slum. A godawful pit, where people suffered and died in the dark. And now, after all he sacrificed, even his own "brother", Silco has to deal with entitled, greedy people that whine and complain because they are not getting as much money as before. To him, they are becoming as alienated and detestable as the rich of Piltover. The people he hates the most

    • @anamilicat6113

      As far as I know, in Undercity the districts or territories have always been governed by the Chem Barons, except for The Lanes until Silco arrived, and they have existed since before Silco, so reading your comment made me theorize that perhaps Silco has the only one of the Chem Barons who came from the lowest and poorest places in Undercity, while the others have always lived in the upper part of Undercity and obtained their positions through family inheritance or something like that.

      The others are doing it for pure greed.
      Silco knows what he's doing it's always the nice and peaceful way and requires sacrifice, as Piltover would never give them freedom any other way.

      @@anamilicat6113 What's your source for this? My understanding was that before Silco took power, the undercity was extremely poor and that Silco was the one who turned it into an "enterprise" after Vander's death and once he rose to power. He produces and sells shimmer, which brings in lots of money. And with that money he was able to establish trade routes and other sources of income, as well as distributing the other chemtech that Singed creates. It wouldn't make much sense for them to be called "chem" barons if their title wasn't based on the fact that the industry they are all employed by is propped up by Silco's chemtech (shimmer and the like).

    • @anamilicat6113
      @anamilicat6113 5 місяців тому +2

      @@nickhy9223 The other chem-barons controlled different territories, similar to other gang leaders. Each region did its own thing and engaged in territorial wars with each other. Uniting the Undercity, as Silco tells Vander, was one of his objectives. He used Shimmer as a carrot to get them to accept his leadership, and they used it to drive chemical technology and the distribution of medicines, etc. Everyone got a share of the profits based on Shimmer, and some also organized the workforce for the factories (like Renni).
      The Chem-Baron Council is his creation. It's quite likely that Silco organized this council or came up with the name (I'm basing this mostly on what I understand from the story we got in "Realms of Runeterra"). The Lanes are a black market that Vander built with the help of his gang to distribute the goods from their smuggling operation, aiming to stop working in the mines. The Lanes represent a black market and are a small part of the great Undercity.

At least Silso choose his moment to stabbed Vander at the back, avoiding his old friend raw strength & strong will to protect his family. When they overstep, and question his authority, he lays down the law and asserts his dominance as a leader. This show continues to amaze me, because I just noticed this detail. We know that Silco, regardless of how he presents himself, is wildly powerful, charismatic, and unafraid to push boundaries. We know he is dangerous. He can be dressed in rags or look like a king and we know this. His dominance is integral, it comes from the inside and manifests in external ways (the addition of the coat to his wardrobe makes him look physically larger, he takes up space, this is a common thing in narrative costuming).
    Finn, on the other hand, is the opposite. His confidence and dominance are an external show. Think about his coat. It is an accessory, it is bright and in your face, but most of all, it makes him look larger. I remember looking at him for the first time and thinking ‘damn, this guy is a tank. How the hell are those shoulders supported by that body?’. He looks physically bigger than Silco. But when everything is on the line, Finn’s facade crumples. He and Silco are at eye level, with Silco being a bit taller. The instant that jacket goes, he immediately looks so much smaller than Silco. He looks normal, he isn’t overly muscular, he doesn’t have Silco’s tolerance to the gas.
    This is even shown in the framing of the shots: Silco takes up the left third of the screen and the shot is from over his shoulder as we watch Finn collapse at his feet, suffocating and weak. In another shot, we are looking at Silco from below, and he takes up most of the screen.
    This show is genius no wonder it took six years to make-

      See 1:41, Silco straight up breathed the effing toxic air, you can even hear that he took a breath lmao.

    I'm going to add my own idiotic comment here and would like to highlight the fact that Silco is making a statement when he takes a single breath from the mask. He's showing them all that he's far more disciplined and made of sterner stuff than the chembarons are. For him, fresh air is a luxury, but for the chembarons, it's a necessity. He's been molded by the city itself and has become a part of it, while the chembarons are just parasites that can barely even breathe its air.

    This scene kind of explained why the Enforcers wore their masks but it's also a plot hole for Caitlin who went into Undercity without one and had no trouble.
    At first I thought the Enforcers didn't wanna get contaminated with the chemicals in the air. That may be partially true but it never occurred to me how thick the air truly was down there until I saw this scene. There's no poisonous vapor in that canister. It's literally the air from Zaun.

    • @thomasraines1396

      I thought it was just the Enforcers being assholes like the Celestial Dragons from One Piece, they don’t want to breath the same air as those that are “beneath them.”

    • @thedog2123

      It may be because Cait is from an upper family, and maybe they have some enchancements? And being in the force, they need to be adept as well in Zaun if they're to capture criminals. But overall, yes, a plot hole it is

    • @cerealbowl7407
      @cerealbowl7407 2 роки тому +110

      maybe it’s because zaun rn has cleaner air than it had during Silco’s time? everyone in this scene had been choking because they weren’t exposed to that kind of pollution before (either they aren’t as old as Silco to have grown up in thick air, or as Silco suggested, had given them the fresh air and they’ve grown too accustomed to it).
      edit: or both; Silco and Vander built the Lanes, given the zaunites the “taste of topside”, and eventually leading to Vander meeting Vi and Powder and essentially adopting them)
      one thing to point out is that Grayson (act 1) was able to normally converse with Vander and Benzo without the mask, so maybe this ‘air’ from zaun was from the really old times when things had been more polluted, and (I actually have no idea about Zaun’s lore, I haven’t played league in like, 5 years) as Silco said, “Have you forgotten where we came from? The mines they had us in”, probably means that the citizens of zaun, before it grew to have entertainment, bars, etc. originally were miners that provided topsiders their wealth and resources.
      As for why the enforcers need the masks each time they visit the undercity, I believe that the air there still might be polluted, but not as it was during the times zaun had still been a mining site- just bearable to talk and breathe in, but to those who grew up in clean air, perhaps preferred to breathe in something much easier on the lungs. That, or it’s just a part of an enforcer’s uniform, like a storm trooper, or it’s a protective piece of headgear.

    • @KlaSiKo4
      @KlaSiKo4 2 роки тому +2

      I mean she probably got used to it cause she literally parkour down the Zaun and got used to it. Or probably Silco make the gas much stronger cause the air looks like gas cause it has rainbow like color not actually green(that's probably why Sevika has a mask too). Or probably you're right lol
      And enforcers can breath in Zaun, I mean i Act 1, the 2 enforcer's keep removing their mask when inside a building. So yeah it's probably Silco make the air much more toxic than in Zaun.
