God there where so many emotions in this scene. It started off with them being almost FLIRTATIOUS with each other and ends with fear, recognition, pride and sadness. This show is just to good.
I think the clock thing refers back to a game they played as kids. Then when they fight Ekko can’t bring himself to finish her off because he recalls the kid she once was.

@@Buckheimer sadly, I don't think so. Maybe ekko just jumped away that's why he broke his ankle. Jinx's injury is spot on, as if she didnt really move from her grenade.
I believe ekko has a voice line along the lines of: I used to like a girl, until she startes talking to guns.. Could explain the flirtatious part..
the fact that he still 100% remembers Jinx' attacks after all those years makes me think that he has never forgotten about Powder and the things they do before.

this 1 scene convinced me that arcane is a true masterpiece.
Episode 3 alone was way more than enough for me to consider it a masterpiece, but this scene was the last nail in the coffin to make me consider it the best show ever 💀

When Ekko was looking at jinx in the eye after Jinx was thrown on the ground, Ekko was thinking like "How did we get to this?" 😢😢So sad 😢
There was a *lot* to take in from that one moment.
They used to be friends and were part of the same group.
Their father figures were like brothers to each other, uncles to the kids.
He used to have a crush on her before she completely lost it.
His conversation with Vi about Powder being long gone was thrown back in his face when he looked at her, scared out of her mind and desperate, realizing Powder was still there after all, even if just a little.
And finally, yes, "How did we get to this?" after realizing Powder wasn't entirely gone like he initially thought. He might've even been wondering "Why?"

@@SeraphimDragon not only that, but jinx always had blue eyes while powder had gray eyes. In that one moment jinx actually is seen with gray eyes once again which make that semblance to powder so much stronger, like if for just a minute powder had come back showing him that she was still there. I don’t think jinx tried to kill ekko with the grenade, but I think she wanted to die as powder, sadly she was brought back but only jinx came back with her new pink eyes…

Well in the first season, he is a side character, and they give him a whole contrasting soundtrack to showcase he isn't part of the main story (yet).

Thats how you do it, no need for stupid and repetitive flashbacks, this continued the main story while explaining the past of those characters, amazing art and close to perfection story flow
Something i dont see people talk about is that these two are both crazy talented engineers and probably bonded over that fact as kids (you even see them ride in a weird wheel thing in the Enemy MV).
Now they’re using their bootleg ass tech to fight. Sad.
In the game Ekko tells Jinx he "had a crush on her until she started talking to the gun"

a lot of movie/anime have same fighting concept, past vs present. but how they delivered it is something else. its brilliant
Fo sho. Others would put a sad/nostalgic song and overlay the scene, try to build onto the emotions.
Arcane is confident in its writing, it knew its audience are emotional at that moment. So it can bring up the hype with the song, and then use silence to let the audience soak in the punches and metal clanging on flesh.
Can you name a few I can check out? I love those scenes (kakashi and obito broke me 😭)

@@mariamjasim4177 it's a bit like the final sasuke vs naruto fight: depicting past fights in sync with a current fight, but Arcane still did it better.
I love how they portrayed Ekko's character. They couldn't really introduce time travel into the plot (things would've gotten way too convoluted), so instead they showed a kind of "mental" time travel.
Ekko lives in both the past and present. For him everything that happened years ago feels like it happened yesterday. He's a master of "time" in the sense of memory, a kind of philosophical twist on the straightforward "time-traveller" idea.
It's just a great way to adapt a seemingly unadaptable character.

Y’all don’t understand how much this scene meant to me man. I remembered when Ekko’s cinematic came out and I was like… damn I’m going to play this champion. I thought this show success was due to the popularity of the video game but i was so wrong, the quality of the animation, the songs the story. It is just beautiful.

True. Not all LoL champions are well written characters. In fact at the very begining writting of LoL champions was offensive to people with mental illnesses due to all misinformation. For instance Dr. Mundo was supposed to be a masochist and like pain when masochists don't like pain. Phisical pain didtracts them from greater - pain of their souls.

Ekko is one of my favorites after learning about his lore a little. They need to expand it more, (cause I wanna know more,) but rito really has surprised me. Excellent!!!
Not gonna even lie I watched this for Vi but found myself getting attached to everyone, especially Ekko and Jinx. I dont know how he could fight her given that he was there the whole time unlike Vi who just remembers the past but wasnt present for all the changes. Im so stoked for Season 2

@@yesntl9614 Do you remember the scene when Heimerdinger took his Board and said that the airscrews are wrong built and Ekko said "Its perfectly made for the Air down there not up here" Already that is proof enough that he is pretty smart.
This scene was such a great context for their friendship, I just wish they had shown this more at the first act. I imagine a lot of fun interaction and dialogue would come from these two.

No, he's alive, AEL's referencing the fact that right after this scene, Jinx pulled the pin of a grenade and tried to kill both of them. She kinda gave up on living, but Ekko managed to kick the grenade away and both survived, although heavily injured.

Ekko always brings out the best in creators. Seconds ,his intro video in league of legends, was a masterpiece when it was made and now there's ekko vs jinx which may be single-handedly the best part of all of Arcane.

I really like this scene between the two characters because they both came from the same backgrounds, they both were at some point friends, and they both had a thing for technology, but certain events led them to two different paths and two different sides. This fight in my opinion, is there way of reliving the past while still focusing on the future, and trying to fight for what they think is the right thing. And for the pocket watch, we see him in the flashback use it to time himself, assuming to see how long it would take him to reach Jinx, so the fact we see him set the timer again to see how long it would take for him to reach jinx also adds to the "Reliving the past one last time" notion. Maybe this was his Z-drive, maybe it wasn't, who knows, all i know is that this scene was amazing because it was able to show the seriousness of the situation along with how it reminded them both of the past and of better times.
I just won my first ekko game in a LONG time.

I saw the scene as ekko had built jinx up to be the opposite of powder. He saw jinx as a mythological evil figure. But wen he had her and she looked at him how she did, the jig was up
He saw jinx as a person. Someone with pain and trauma, scared and lost like him. He saw all of her as she currently is
He couldn't kill a person in need of help. He stands to help pple with the community he built
And all she wanted was to be seen as she is. Not be torn between two idealized versions. Just her.
So she released the bomb in a way he could escape of he chose. She was ok with dying there.
I also assume he hit the grenade away to spare both of them

So cute
something I love about Arcane is all the minute things they do to make these characters HUMAN. When Ekko turns his head down after Jinx calls him "the boy savior" his lip quirks up, then he kinda does that lip smack moment, the moment he brings out the gadget, it starts ticking, you can tell in Jinx's expression she knows exactly what's gonna go down. She kinda huffs then that "heh" as she fiddles with the trigger, it's the smaller things, the noises, the slight bits in facial movement that elevate this show from other projects.
