    I just bought the Rigid 14-gal w/the detailing kit and it's a total beast. My shop vac bit the dust after 29 years of usage. I went for the Rigid cause of the warranty and good reviews about customer service. The detailing kit is a must have for cars,boats,trucks etc etc. Good video guys and keep it up because they help us all out when buying certain products.

      I just bought the model you bought, partly because I have a Ridgid machine that was actually a curb-find and I can say that I like the build quality of Ridgid machines. You can take them apart to clean the vacuum fan and volute and even take the top cover off to inspect the bushing or bearing as well. Also, parts are available for Ridgid cleaners. They're about as easy to get as parts for a Rainbow vacuum cleaner. The reason I bought this model is the old one doesn't take bags. That being said, I gave the old one to my brother who is a part-time car detailer. Since he doesn't use bags, the old one isn't an issue.
      I did use the new one recently to vacuum my Mom's car for her annual Mother's Day gift and this thing can really spin a turbine nozzle. I don't mean the little dinky things that come with Bissells, I mean a full-sized carpet head like the TurboCat. This especially came in handy for the rug style floor mats she has in her CRV. After vacuuming with it I then proceeded to wet extract with my Rainbow. The detailing hose is of really nice quality (it's a commercial 1.5" smooth wall, so should be expected) and the tools worked incredibly well using the white soft bristles to get up to the windshield at the front of the dashboard and the floor brush (black one with the coarse bristles) helped with some agitation to the felt-style flooring.

    I could tell the Craftsman would break down first, I mean, it has an incredibly tiny motor inside it, from the sound of it. Also, I know it seems kinda stupid but you can buy a muffler separately for Ridgid vacuums to put on the exhaust. It does silence some of the more jarring frequencies coming off of it. Another trick I learned is if you put a hose on the exhaust, that helps with the noise as well. I've had pretty good luck with my Ridgid vacuum and I also have a Ridgid reciprocating saw.

    that craftsman is same exact copy of vac master. i modified my vac master for higher suction, but it put to much stress on the motor. but was happy with it, its the best mobile detailing vac.

    I bought the craftsman, it's a beast but its awfully loud, sound like jet engine but what should I expect from a 5.5 HP vac. I bought it 1 year ago, after the 3 use it would not turn on, diagnosed it and found bad switch connection. The wire connectors were cheapy, stripped them and added better connectors, yesterday while I was vacuuming my truck it just turned off. I wish I would of gone with the Ridgid.

    just like you said "proper equipment" is a game changer. I always say when you have the right tool for the right job it goes 1000 times easier. I just bought the rigid it’s on sale for $99 at Home Depot and it includes the car detailing kit. No-brainer for me.

    Mobile detailer's mostly work in customers driveways, most driveways are slightly slop with wheels your shop vac can roll into your customers door or fender risking the chance of scratching or causing damage to your customer's paint

    I've actually been using multiple sizes of a brand called vacmaster and I've loved them. One is an 8 gallon 4.5 hp the other is 12 gallons with 5hp. Two different sized hoses for different jobs. Plus they come apart with on click and it becomes a blower.

    Ive used the rigid to detail 100s of cars. I vacuumed 4 hours today actually. Thing is a beast....definitely get the orange 1 1/4 inch hose "detail" kit. Also get a nice bristle/brush attachment. Wheels are a deal breaker for me. I use a tornador or other air tool to blow out the filter. I do like the hose holder things on that craftsman tho. The cord is wrapped around the handle on the rigid btw.

    Used a Craftsman wet dry vac for 28 years, no joke. Only just got rid of it because the plastic hose split and it makes more sense to buy a new vac instead of a replacement hose. Went with a Dewalt... we'll see if it lasts as long as the Craftsman!

    lol the craftsman one is the Vacmaster beast. same exact vacuum with craftsman label. I actually just switched to a Rigid and although it works fine its nowhere near as better of a vacuum and is wayyyyyyy louder which I hate. I'm going to order it though and then get the Craftsman again. good review

    The Rigid is aimed at more than just car detailing. You can get HEPA filters for it for home cleaning. If you need it not to roll it's not hard to shove a chalk in-between the wheels and the machine.

    Another detailed says it’s more of a hassle if there’s too much power causing carpet to lift. Like 5hp vs 6.5 but I guess it depends on the situation like if you have sand. He preferred 5hp over 6

  • @TonyVainosky
    @TonyVainosky 2 роки тому +8

    Also, you lose suction the longer the hose is, just FYI. There's a certain length where you'll hit the limit forwhat the vacuum can pull and it'll become much less efficient

    • @GoodOlCharlieBrown

    • @rickkern5785
      @rickkern5785 Рік тому +2

      Wheels are hugely annoying on a sloped driveway. I have the Rigid Box with no wheels and love it. My last shop vac had wheels but was so top heavy it fell over a couple times while trying to pull it with the hose. This Rigid seems low enough it probably won't tip over easily.

    • @muddyriverdogz
      @muddyriverdogz Рік тому +2

      Depends on what you are using it for. If your dragging it around a house or garage sucking up dust or whatever the wheels are great.

  • @cesarmontes5177
    @cesarmontes5177 Рік тому +1

    Also wheels on a shop vac is no benefit to a mobile detailer. In fact professional detailer's would vote against wheels.
