My pleasure man. I don't feel this is the place for camera tests though, it's a guitar/music focused channel. I am playing with the thought of starting another channel based more around photography though. Then again, I don't have time to create that much content, so two channels is maybe a bit too much :/
Hey ***** , have you seen a difference in grading the different picture profiles? the only thing i have read so far is to use pp7 for "slog2", although the other picture profiles look pretty flat to me too. i just got my a7ii 2 days ago, so i wondered if you have made any new conclusions since you got it? :) thanks for the video btw!
Do what? Grade? You can always tweak the settings of your camera to have a flatter look which is better for grading in post. Try lowering the contrast and saturation etc. But it won't be on the same level as Sony's picture profiles which is specifically made for it I think. I'm no expert though. I'm just learning about this stuff myself :)
1. Could you please give me the exact settings? exposure time, which image profile? (pp1, pp2, pp3, ....) and the settings in the image area spring black gamma ..... etc 2. What do I have to watch out for when I'm filming outside, when there's a lot of sunshine and a blue sky, so that the sun and the sky do not look so artificial? Thank You ImDaddl
1. I can't remember, this was uploaded years ago. Pretty sure it was pp5 or pp6, shutter speed double of frame rate, so ss: 100 and fps: 50. 2. That depends, it often high contrast so to use pp7 with a ND filter could be a way to preserve detail in highlights and shadows. It makes the color grading more challenging though.
I see you are shooting in flaat picture but the cc in this one looks off. I think you can get LUTs from the internet and try them out. Neumann Films has some great LUTs for this camera also.
I actually did a few render tests which I uploaded privately. Comparing them to the file on my computer they all lost some contrast on youtube. So I actually bumped the contrast a bit to compensate for that. Here the original file has too much contrast, but it looks fine on youtube. Maybe I should just trust how it looks on my computer, I don't know. I guess I should check it out on other monitors and browsers and see if it is displayed differently than here...
***** It looks like the contrast and saturation were boosted..It's just personal preferance really but at a glance, it seems like you lost a bit of detail..I could be wrong. This monitor isn't great and I'm not watching in 1080
Dude! I was looking around to find test footage of the A7II for video purposes - turns out one of my favorite guitar players is using it. Cool stuff!
Tyler Lavoie - Thanks man! I'm very happy with the camera :)
Stellar picture quality! The A7II is one sweet piece of kit.
Thanks! Loving the A7II :)
Nice work man, I love Sony. God daym.
Me too man! I've been wanting to go full frame for years. Feels gooood :D
Doesn't it though? Fuck, we'd be best buddies if we didn't like 10k km away.
Yeah man. Long distance best buddies is not easy I tell you!
Thank you for your test. Please do more of this.
Subscribed.

***** would you mind telling me the color setting that you use for this shot? The skin tone is great.
Thank you
Van Pham - I just used the default picture profile 5, so the color mode was set to cinema. Or do you mean in post?
***** this is exactly what i am looking for. So gamma is Cine1, and color profile is Cinema. Correct?
Van Pham - Exactly. PP5 I think it was :)

Great! Battery life in video mode? Does it have overheating issue? Thx
Trying out the fancy features that's meant for professionals. I have no idea what I'm doing... but I'm quite happy with the result! ;P
Nice. I'm thinking about buying this camera
Is it possible to do that POST after any video recording? Like if you've recorded from another camera, can you do it from a software?

This is only a test, but I'm pretty happy with the result. In what way do you think it's off?
Can't really pinpoint. More of an overall look. But maybe the contrast is a tad high?

I just got this camera. Which PPF do you shoot with?
Jaime Huppert - Congrats! I usually go with the Cine1 and Cine2, I believe it's PP4 and PP5...
man awesome quality!! 50fps looks like 60fps
Thanks, really happy with the camera so far! :)
What's the PP #?
5
looks cooler without the grading i think
Reason?

Graded looks more 3d, like you pop out of the screen :D
