Great video. I have had paralysis by analysis for weeks now deciding between the ii and iii bodies. I broke down and ordered the A7ii for a great price. It's going to be used for general photography for my enjoyment and not for professional work. The iii definitely has the edge with auto focus, but my first DSLR had 8 focus points so comparatively speaking this is a huge leap forward to what I've used in the past. I plan to take my time to learn the camera and its functions and I suspect I will be quite happy with it.

Thanks for the review Edward. Your point about the complexity of the latest cameras is a good one. Some of the recent Sonys are as technical as computers. I like the Sony A7ii for its solidity and that it doesn’t do the overkill of the high end (price) cameras.
So true about the shame of using an older camera. My feeling is that if you can shoot great pictures on a older camera and make money as well, than don't stop using it. When I bought my Sony 7ii new, I still kept my older Canon camera just because it was my money maker. Now the Sony is getting more use because I feel more comfortable with it. Im Using A7II for a week and... My Friend have A7III its faster camera, A7III have more AF points but i still can make the same or better shots than him. Im car photographer but i like portait shots, this camera is awsome and i dont need to upgrade it, even if i know how better is A7III. In My opinion A7II is worth when you have small budget. Its low-entry proffesional camera with nice dynamic range, fast AF, easy to use and who makes your job easier and more fun

I have bought an A7II in 2023 and it is more than adequate for my needs. It is an excellent camera when you compare with digital cameras generally except for the £1200+ professional cameras. Yes, the Sony A7 III is a much better camera but it's not needed for my purpose and it costs £1600 body only! I use the A7II in a low lit theatre to photo plays, (no flash obviously) it keeps good focus on the moving actors, the pictures are not grainy and I haven't had any bad pictures other than photographer error. The camera is very good at doing what it's not suppose to be good at doing.
I own a7II the camera has it’s limitations, but It still can produce quality stills. I pair my a7Ii with the Sony Zeiss glass to help with AF. Not the best in low light, but again I recommend you shoot with fast primes (55mm 1.8).
That's what I have. Zeiss Loxia series is good as well.. since it is manual focus, you don't need fast AF and shoot in more traditional way. Zeiss Batis 85 is another great performer.
Great video. Thanks for posting it. I bought a new a7II in 2020 and do not regret doing so. It's got everything I need as a hobby photographer and it was 1/2 the price of the A7III. Just because it's an "old" camera doesn't mean it's still not very capable, and at the price I paid, it was definitely very good value.

I bought a7m2k (with 28-70mm|kit) today over a7iii. What I've realized over yrs and again while making this huge choice in 2022. One's requirement matters ! what you are going to do with it, if it is worth of work, one is planning to do! I needed one body for studio shoot, I believe this should work like charm when coupled with good 85mm. Bought it under 950$ in sep 2022.
You definitely won’t regret picking one up for studio work! The kit lens was actually one of my first lens when I got into the Sony ecosystem years ago! I still use the Sony 85mm 1.8 ever week for weddings or family sessions 🤗! Wishing you nothing but the best bro!

not jive. its a great camera. helpful video to newbies. its tough, versatile. 3 super good AI auto modes. CIZ zoom, sweep panorama mode (not on III or IV) with film we had to stop, after 36 shoots, so 300 shots-ish, between battery changes good.e-mount AF/non-AF adapters plentiful, so thousands of good lenses can be adapted to fit, handy and good for your pocket-book. great color, low image moise. remember 'new' and 'latest' are marketers favourite adjectives, next to 'free' :) imo, it hd new negatives, gives you full-frame quality, a good value, it outperforms its contemporary - a good camera, the Leica SL, if good lenses used, in most areas, which also has 24MP sensor.more compact, lighter to carry, has image stabilisation- latter points applies to used older DSLRs', in comparison, as well.
NB: two auto A modes are superior auto(mult),Intelligent auto)for moving subjects), both feature image enhancement, subject recognition)eg baby,baby with mother w/baby skin djustment. sophisticated and works.
I have a Sony a 58 A-mount camera for 8 years and got for that camera some minolta lenses .Very good lenses and cheap. I am very satisfied with the results. i am considering a switch to a fullframe camera and i think the Sony a 7 II is a good option. For me photography is a way of disconecting and do something i enjoy. I don´t have the budged for buying new gear. If i buy used, it is much cheaper then the Sony a 7III and with an Sony LA EA 4 adapter, i can use all my vintage minolta lenses that are fullframe anyways .
I just picked a mk 2 not too long ago and I'm enjoying it, not a huge camera guy and all I do is car photography but I feel like it's more than enough, still messing w the settings
@@edwardwalkerjr.4359 It is quite sharp. But since it is Leica M mount lens, the corner sharpness is weak wide open. Stopping down to f2.8 onwards is considered enough. However, I would just care about the centre since I do not use it for landscape.
It’s not the cream of the crop, but it definitely can get the job done. I did wedding photography with this camera as a A camera for a year and a half some years back. Again it’s definitely usable and it helps that it’s a full frame sensor. But the dynamic range is like night and day if you jump to the a73. I hope this helps!
i started with this camera, a month ago, it’s really a pain to use sometimes because of the terribly inaccurate and slow autofocus causing so many missed shots. besides the lack of focus it’s usable. just not professionally
I’m really sorry to hear that you’ve had bad experiences with the Sony a7 mark 2. I’ve used this camera, and far worse cameras for professional use for years for photo and video. My first year as a wedding photographer I shoot 35 weddings and at least 50 mini sessions with it as my main camera and a a6000 as a backup. So it really comes down to knowing your gear. But I understand every camera isn’t for everyone. I hope you’re able to return and grab a camera that suits you and your shooting style. I add grain to all of my photos. If you go to Instagram and use hashtags you can get a larger variety of people using the camera. Never just make a decision off of one person’s review. You take it all in and then you weigh your options.
What is the purpose of duo shooting? Why do I need two cameras? Honestly, the only reason I'm thinking to not buy this camera is because of the limit card slot & the battery life (everyone has been saying to just buy a battery pack) but you've cleared the limited card slot solution for me. I was leaning toward the Fuji XT3 for that second slot buuuuuttttt I definitely have to rent one out before I go straight stick shift mode lol. Thank you for sharing!

The purpose of dual shooting is too help get different perspectives from one scene really quick, because when your changing your lenses your more open to missing a important moment on a shoot where do overs might not be possible. A good combination would be to have something on the wide and long side. I personally only shoot with two camera bodies for weddings. I just want to say thank you! Yall remember when that New Galaxy phone came out and started exploding like a maniac and it was banned from airports and sht cause it was such a hazardest product? Just cause some new camera some new gadget came out it doesnt mean its better, sometimes there was bettrr quality in older models, just like cars phones laptops tvs and alot of other things, right now i think the new iphone is 13pro or some sht like that it is better to get the model before that cause its cheaper and the new one only has a few things different that is not worth spending big bucks for it, This sony a7ii looks like a great camera, yall should get it and buy 2 or 3 more lenses and thats it. :) 2 more batteries and ur good to go. Hopefully in a year make enough money to buy a 26mp one or some 2500dlls one or more money! But if ur budget fits this camera say no more, Get it!

The video is pretty nice and cool but at this point i think the noise and the tech for me atleast its not worth the extra dollar save since the A7iii is way more professional camera and newer than A7ii :3

How do you get the eye auto focus to work with the shutter button mine has to be assigned to a custom button. If this is possible please help this is one of the things that makes me want a newer camera!!!
It’s the same with this as it is the newer Sony cameras. You just have to go into the menu and assign different buttons to do different things. That’s one plus about Sony, that all of the cameras are extremely customizable 🤗!

For the best I would lean towards the Sony fx30 (it’s around the same price as Sony a73). This camera will go above and beyond for quality, at a very affordable price! You’ll also be future proofing yourself, so it’s a win win!

In two weeks i’m splashing $$ on an used(but checked) a7ii with the tamron 24-200 i’ll be shooting for landscape, timelapse, imcluding nightlapses(will get a sharper lense later on) what are your thoughts on this please? p.s i’m in a part of the world where the currency is not strong, so as much as i would loved getting an a7riv or something, i can’t Thank you for your input, and your videos man:)

With landscape you don’t necessarily need a shallow depth of field. So you don’t need a lens that goes wide open (1.2, 1.4 or 1.8), at least not right away! So I think your going to crush it with that combo! I’m really excited for you!!!
No 4 with the Sony a7ii! But if you know what your doing you can definitely still get great video from the Sony a7ii 🤗! There are a lot of great examples on UA-cam if people using this camera for video, you should definitely check them out!
depends on quality of adaptor fitted. Nikon glass, I read is most difficult to adapt AF wise, but I have no actual experience. I use 24.85 & 70-200 Contax N Ziess T* Vario Sonnars with the Fringer AF adapter (3 years). good combination, imo. there are 2 Metabones AF adapters, A Monster AF Adapter. maybe 1 or 2 others. buy from seller who offers return privileges/ money back, if they prove unsatisfactory. cheaper manual-focus adapters with aperture ring to be avoided. they vignette & everything manual, of course. hope this helps.

You won’t be disappointed! I still use vintage lenses to this day on all of my Sony cameras. I use the Canon FD lenses.

I hear you. But if that’s your logic why stop at the A7III, you might as well save a lil more and get the Sony A7IIII! Either way, I own and use all 3 for weddings. And they all are cameras you can use professionally.

@@edwardwalkerjr.4359 I was thinking of Tamron 28-75 f2.8 its a more an all around lens type xD I can work with it in a few different situations because of the focal range that is pretty generous for a beginner who wants to start in the bussines for a start till I make some money to buy another lens but price- performance is a good deal 😀

How do you get the eye auto focus to work with the shutter button mine has to be assigned to a custom button. If this is possible please help this is one of the things that makes me want a newer camera!!!
It’s the same with this as it is the newer Sony cameras. You just have to go into the menu and assign different buttons to do different things. That’s one plus about Sony, that all of the cameras are extremely customizable 🤗!
What do you think with getting the m50 mark ii vs this camera? If price didn’t matter? (Getting a7 ii with stock lens for 400).

For UA-cam, absolutely! I would look for a different camera if you’re looking to film events. But it still can be done!

I'm currently using UA-cam to store them. As I'm not experienced with cameras and have been using my iPhone so far, but want to change to a camera. So I'm seeking advice on the best camera options that will result in great quality videos etc.
For the best I would lean towards the Sony fx30 (it’s around the same price as Sony a73). This camera will go above and beyond for quality, at a very affordable price! You’ll also be future proofing yourself, so it’s a win win!

i’ll be shooting for landscape, timelapse, imcluding nightlapses(will get a sharper lense later on)
what are your thoughts on this please?

I appreciate you taking the time to watch some of my content 🤗. I think that’s a great combination to have for landscape and time lapse! With landscape you don’t necessarily need a shallow depth of field. So you don’t need a lens that goes wide open (1.2, 1.4 or 1.8), at least not right away! So I think your going to crush it with that combo!

No 4 with the Sony a7ii! But if you know what your doing you can definitely still get great video from the Sony a7ii 🤗! There are a lot of great examples on UA-cam if people using this camera for video, you should definitely check them out!
I just bought an A7ii in January 2022. Still haven't got the hang of it. Especially how to film S-log. I'll keep trying though.

Great! It has zebras and and some more fun things to help with nailing focus every single time🙌🏿
depends on quality of adaptor fitted. Nikon glass, I read is most difficult to adapt AF wise, but I have no actual experience. I use 24.85 & 70-200 Contax N Ziess T* Vario Sonnars with the Fringer AF adapter (3 years). good combination, imo. there are 2 Metabones AF adapters, A Monster AF Adapter. maybe 1 or 2 others. buy from seller who offers return privileges/ money back, if they prove unsatisfactory. cheaper manual-focus adapters with aperture ring to be avoided. they vignette & everything manual, of course. hope this helps.
