Relacje między badaniami nad fauną Europy Wschodniej a sposobami rozumienia tego regionu w okresie od XVI do XVIII wieku będą tematem badań prof. Grażyny Jurkowlaniec z Wydziału Nauk o Kulturze i Sztuce UW. Na realizację swojego projektu badaczka otrzymała grant Advanced przyznawany przez Europejską Radę ds. Badań Naukowych (ERC). Projekt prof. Grażyny Jurkowlaniec Scholars, Animals, Images, Geographies, and the Arts: De-exoticizing Eastern Europe in the Early Modern Period SAIGA otrzymał dofinansowanie na kwotę 2,5 mln euro.
Badaczka jest drugą osobą z Polski, która zrealizuje grant Advanced w panelu nauk humanistycznych i społecznych, i jednocześnie pierwszą kobietą w Polsce, która otrzymała to wyróżnienie.

The relationship between the research on the fauna of Eastern Europe and the ways in which the region was perceived between the 16th and 18th centuries will be the subject of the research conducted by Prof. Grażyna Jurkowlaniec from the UW’s Faculty of Culture and Arts. The ERC Advanced Grant laureate has received funding of €2.5 million for carrying out the project Scholars, Animals, Images, Geographies, and the Arts: De-exoticizing Eastern Europe in the Early Modern Period SAIGA.
The researchers is the second Pole who is carrying out an Advanced Grant as part of the Social Sciences and Humanities panel and the first woman in the country who received this type of grant.
