My mkx radiator blew. Replaced. Same day the alternator went out. Replaced. That day. Ac not blowing cold air anymore. What happened ??? My mechanic that installed both is lost as to why the ac clutch is not engaging help!
You don’t need a special tool for the stretch belt that goes to power steering. It’s actually much easier to use zip ties. You need the big strong ones. There are holes on the power steering pulley. As you start the belt onto the pulley you zip tie the belt to the pulley. You might have to zip tie the second hole as you spin the belt onto the power steering pulley as you turn the crankshaft pulley.
I FIGURED IT OUT! You can’t fit a ratchet to loosen the tensioner, take a 1 1/8” socket and put it over the whole tensioner, connect your breaker bar and pull like normal 👍🏻
For belt no need to remove tire and liner. Just tie an 18 ga wire around belt and pull new belt up between tensioner and ac pulley from top so you cal keep it up while lacing onto alt with tensioner moved to tension side.
Do you really have to remove/replace the power steering belt? Yesterday I drove to DFW with out ANY problems...Then, as I parked, I got the Charging system light. Then when I returned to the car and tried to start it up again, it not only showed the Charging system light, but the hot temperature light. It turned on, no power steering and when I changed gears to back up , the car jumped and stopped. The belt came off?
I used a Craftsmen 1/2 breaker bar and put it on the back of the tensioner. Had my wife hold the tensioner from the top, I took off the old belt and installed the new belt from the bottom, without taking off the wheel or inner fender well. Took about an hour.

Thank you. That was the easiest and most direct explanation.

Yes I agree, two zip ties will do the job
Excellent idea

Hi, does the belt ride on the water pump at all for 2007 MKZ? I know it's driven by chain but wondering.
Thanks!
It's good information.
Do you have a video showing this same process on the 2.7 liter
Lol I didn't know there were two belts until the Ford parts guy brought both to the counter.😅

The frame is blocking the tensioner pully
So theres 2 belts?

I cant get a ratchet on tensioner. How did you raise motor. I cant get it to raise enough..
