I think they did a really good job of portraying the powerless Squall feels when having to give up Rinoa. He literally just said he doesn't want to attach to her because she'll disappear and then has to choose to let her disappear. Most games I think struggle with having really powerful protanganists that then have no challenging conflicts due to being the Dragonborn or whatever. Here you can tell that even if Squall could fight his way out of the situation, it'd be pointless since all nations would hate them anyway and Rinoa would probably just get possessed. So he acts paralyzed because it actually seems like the only option is to let Estar imprison her and I think that is showcased when he asked himself, "There's nothing I can do, right?" Instead of, "Isn't there anything that I can do?" Almost like he's trying to convince himself he has no option but let this unfold as he stands still.
Its also incredibly interesting because it shows his growth as a character. Here he is, at the end of the game, still paralyzed with the fear of losing someone. But instead of just giving up, now he has the internal conflict of thinking about what he can do. He still has the internal conflict, though but I feel like this finally pulls him out of it and forces him to act. He's been powerless his whole life, due to Ellone disappearing. But now he has finally had enough and is ready to go save Rinoa, consequences be damned.
Squall is by far my favorite video game protagonist ever. His character arc is fantastic from start to finish and he’s actually so complex and likeable.
This particular "FF" felt like a fairytale. It's beautiful. Squall is very different from the other "FF" protagonists, even Cloud. Actually cold. It may have began as a protection mechanism, but it became what he really was through out the years. And I don't think he ever quite copes with the world, not truly. Because he's actually satisfied with what he experienced so far. He kinda reminds me of Shinji from "Evangelion".
My GOSH, man, this scene had me as a broken down wreck, hahaha. This was the scene that cemented my love for this game's story. The gameplay may be shotty, but that didn't mean a thing to me because of these characters.
I don’t get ppl who complain about this relationship, meanwhile are fine with the retconnng of tifa and cloud being into each other. I’d say their old friends but tifa barely knew cloud was alive before Jehova entered the picture. That’s not a love story.
Meanwhile FFXV had literally more chemistry with the car than with the canon love interest.
Or with the collaboration character (Sarah).
That is just sad really …

FFXV is the most homosexual imo, like they don't even let you a chance to talk to the main female character via a cellphone or anything lmao
The trailer with Stella was pretty good. Really wish they kept her.

God, please give this amazing game a remake so we can get a rendition of this gorgeous scene and incredible love story.
Fully agree. I wish!
He actually didn't admit to Rinoa that he has fallen for her. He admitted that to himself. 😅

Every time I play this game this scene always makes me bawl like a baby. The puzzle is annoying but it’s so worth it for this beautiful scene.
This scene is 100x better than twilight saga.
I can appreciate this. I’ll give the video a like.
their “beneath the Highwind”
moment.
@morfometa quote unquote, their’s equivalent to CloTi’s moment.
I agree this is an amazing part in this game. Great Video
Can't deny the character design in this game look so cool
this game really knew how to write it's characters.
Best song

FF7 is the most amazing adventure ever, and this one is the "biggest love story ever"...
this is 8

i agree... playing many ff games...but so far rinoa and squall is my fav couple....
Ff9>ff7
I hate Squall because he attacks Sora when they first meet!
that weird kid had it coming
Nonsense.
