As much as I appreciate these types of videos, one thing a spec on spec comparison can't capture is the feel of the machines. I know for a fact that Yamaha has that sweet handling characteristic that makes it easier to corner faster on tighter technical tracks let's say compared to a KTM.

basically the same bikes but you'll spend a little more than the R1.. I have 10 bikes and own the R1 and rode my buddys bmw many times. I prefer the bmw for a weekend canyon runs but the R1 for track only because of its aggressive sitting stance.. Bmw much more comfortable for a daily ride.. either way both amazing rides

It goes without saying, it is the BMW S1000RR even over the R1M.
Also, I felt this video is biased towards the R1 as it does not show anything about the new DDC package in the S1000RR which is standard. Yamaha has NOTHING as sophisticated as that. The German engineering marvel is at par when it comes to aerodynamics being to use on the track along with the electronic rider aids. I have both the bikes and I always take the S1000RR key inevitably whenever I head out. It is PURE ENGINEERING and comfortable fun.

No one will buy just the base model of the BMW. Even the video is showing pics of the carbon fiber wheels on the BMW and that’s 2K extra a la carte. You’re looking at 23K easy with any options if not more. Might as well get the Aprilia RSV4 non-factory since they copied the front. Save a few K with that one too…
This video is not showing everything and should have shown what most people would buy. You buy the base and add the premium package, which is $2500. So just over 21k you'll have all the optional options shown in the video plus heated grips, GPS and the electronic suspension. You'd spend 25k for the R1M and still not have the other options and less power. The RSV4 front end looks like shit, the BMW doesn't.
