Hmm " you can totally dial the r1m suspension". You can actually "totally dial" the reg R1 suspension too. Setting sag you still have to manually jack or otherwise the rear shock on both, With the R1M you are dealing with a dynamic suspension. ..Which is actually not what you ideally want if you're at the track. Dynamic suspension is getting better but impedes performance if you have any skills. Having owned both bikes I didnt feel the huge difference stated riding around re comfort. Ohlins is obviously a higher end set up but still.... Electronics on both bikes are the same outwith the ability to set the dynamic suspension on R1M. All in all the same bike with different suspension. IMO best to go the regular R1M route switch the fork internals and possibly switch the rear shock if your skill set merits it and you;ll have a bike superior to the R1M.

I remember riding the standard r1 in 2018 or so (coming off my S1000RR). The R1 had a seriously choppy throttle, very uncomfortable on the wrists. Im not sure that subsequent year models fixed its ridiculous fueling. Sounded nice but just no. Wondering if it's changed at all or if the r1m is any diff, or if 5 years has altered this bike at all? Ps. I think the r1M has a wider rear tyre?
When you have a lotta money to spend in 5, 10 different bikes, it doesn’t matter anymore which one is slightly better at one thing or another, and you should do whatever you feel like. But for the most mortals of us it’s interesting to think a bit more thoroughly, I guess. The R1 and R1M are definitely not two completely different bikes. They are in fact pretty much the same bike. After a lot of thought, research and after testing both bikes, I decided for the R1. And the money that I saved in the Öhlins suspensions I will maybe use in the future for upgrading the brakes of the R1, which is for sure the most negative point of the bike, and in this respect the R1 and R1M are exactly the same, they both have exactly the same brakes. And if you really want to be serious in the race track there are even better options with other non automatic Öhlins suspensions out there. But as I said, if money for you is not an issue, go with the R1M, it’s a beautiful looking bike. Peace and love
So the r1m looks like it has passenger pegs for 2up does the regular r1 have that to or no; or can you even do 2up with either one of these bikes? just wonder because that would be the other factor for me; my oldest kid loves going on rides with me.
Camber on a motorcycle refers to the angle of the wheels relative to the vertical axis of the bike when viewed from the front or rear. Specifically, it is the angle between the vertical axis of the wheel and a plane perpendicular to the ground. Positive camber is when the top of the wheel is angled outward from the vertical axis, and negative camber is when the top of the wheel is angled inward toward the bike. In motorcycles, positive camber is generally undesirable because it can cause the bike to feel unstable and reduce traction during cornering. It's worth noting that some motorcycles, particularly off-road or motocross bikes, may have intentionally designed positive camber to improve stability and handling in certain situations, such as when landing from jumps or tackling rough terrain. However, for most street-oriented motorcycles, a slight negative camber or a neutral camber angle is preferred for optimal handling and safety.
me toR1 and R6 ridden and owned and still own, Im sorry maybe because im an instructor and taught on track, is it worth the extra $10k kind of yes, but that's probably more for intel and suspensions or the Carbon? NO, if you do not have 2 grand to play with can you make the normal R1 as good yes you can, but only to do with auto-tuning of the suspension but it will only run over a number of tracks for example which once its set it will stay, so to be honest lern howto tune your suspension its done simple as but next track same again, lol
You call them track bikes, but they have headlights, mirrors, turn signals, license plates, etc? Do you mean capable of track riding vs a track bike, or are these just for track? Give me the blue but throw that brushed tank on there too. Cheers
These are track bikes the mirrors are quick release. They come off and I snap in mirror blocks in its place. The headlamps get taped. Then you're off to the races.
Carbon fiber fairings and suspension. That’s the only difference. It’s not by chance that some of the most competitive racers ride manually adjusted suspension.
Because they have a $20 million pit crew behind them that can adjust and fine-tune every single thing needed for the average rider a self-adjusting suspension is all that you need and the ride is wonderful
Will never go Honda Fireblade RR-R-SP ever again!!! The key fob was the absolute worst, the restrictions are insane, bike was unrideable for the 1st year. Yes it was eventually flashed, but always felt cramped. 6x WSBK winning ZX-10-RR has been incredible stock, gonna be insane when set up . Bike is Lime because its Sublime!!! R1-M are non-existent and so was the ZX-10-RR, Flook of nature i was able to get a ZX-10-RR
I have heard the same thing about the Fireblade. Ended up reallocating Money from the Fireblade I wanted to order to a BMW M 1000RR that I ordered 3.5 weeks ago. Stay tuned for the videos.
my 2021 r1 dissipated un-evidentially 2.5 liters of oil in 500kms and blew the engine.... reliable.... nope oil check light didnt even come on while the engine was about to die!
Alex...you will soon have it . I promise. You may even get this very bike. I'm thinking about raffling it off to some lucky person after the summer season.
@@CK_RIDES Just read it, thanks. In your video you referred to it when talking about the rear suspension. You can adjust camber at the rear suspension? I've never seen an adjustment knob for this.
@@CK_RIDES Even then I've still confused. Camber makes sense in a car because of symmetrical wheels on each side. But a motorcycle only has one front and rear wheel. Are you referring to the lean angle? And how are they different? Sorry but this is not a topic that has ever been covered by any motorcycle videos I've watched before.
Beautiful bikes and you should not care what people think oh why brotato chip would you buy another Yamaha R1. Yamaha makes fantastic bikes sorry Ducati but I’ve seen brand new Ducati’s leaking oil leaking coolant on brand new Ducati’s at car shows. I would take either but i would love to own a R1M
The R1M is a very special machine. I know a lot of people cant stomach the price but in my opinion the suspension makes this bike a dream to ride on the street and track. Thank you again for the support and follow. I sincerely appreciate it.
@CK_RIDES and thats the only difference though... The way you explain it in the video like you're getting a difference motorcycle. Like other manufacturer premium bikes they come completely difference then the standard bike they have. I've been a Yamaha rider for over 20 years and I'm disappointed in how Yamaha have fallen so far behind in technology and engine performance.
@@willR1 I definitely feel like Yamaha could up the anti on their engines. I completely agree. I do love the suspension on the R1M. It's such a great upgrade to the stock suspension on the regular R1. I always have worked on the engines to bring them up to track par. But it would be nice to see something spectacular out of the box like the Fireblade or the BMW M S 1000RR track edition.
R1M is really better than R1 But the price point difference is not that worth, but if the difference is like about 6k-7k that is reasonable i think 🤔
Lends it really depends what you're looking for. To add everything it comes with it would cost more. So for me personally...it was a wash.

That is interesting that you went with the same exhaust on both bikes.
Yes. I'm a huge Yoshi Fan.
what are the mods on the R1M
Full engine work done by KWS. New Billet, velocity stacks, fuel pump, air filter, piston heads etc.
So the r1m looks like it has passenger pegs for 2up does the regular r1 have that to or no; or can you even do 2up with either one of these bikes? just wonder because that would be the other factor for me; my oldest kid loves going on rides with me.
You can put a passenger seat on the R1M. I only kept the peg for my camera mount.
I'll get a R1 in September.
So excited for you.
M if you got it regular r1 cuts the mustard just fine
What do you do for a living?

Thank you for the information my guy helps me think on spending that 10k more but I’m also tax exempt since I’m Native American 🇺🇸 ❤
That's awesome!!!!
What’s camber on a motorcycle?
Then can you explain what is inboard and outboard of a motorcycle is?
Love Yamaha I would take them both if I could
me toR1 and R6 ridden and owned and still own, Im sorry maybe because im an instructor and taught on track, is it worth the extra $10k kind of yes, but that's probably more for intel and suspensions or the Carbon? NO, if you do not have 2 grand to play with can you make the normal R1 as good yes you can, but only to do with auto-tuning of the suspension but it will only run over a number of tracks for example which once its set it will stay, so to be honest lern howto tune your suspension its done simple as but next track same again, lol
I agree with you.
@@CK_RIDES wowthats a new reply i usually get slagged right off hahaha cheers
Is the R1 Street Legal?
Yes. Just barely.
@CK_RIDES What's the CC? I want one but I'm a beginner rider. Barely getting into bikes
@@TacticalSoul 1000cc
@CK_RIDES 🤯😳🫣 Oh....ok so definitely not a starter bike lol I want that look though so much, maybe if they had like a 600cc or 650
@@TacticalSoul there's r3 300cc, r6 600cc too but 300cc is good for beginners
I Love the sound of the r1 .if I was buying one it would be the r1m.clour and carbon and comfort .any news if there be a 2024 r1 .great video 👍🇮🇪🇮🇪
I have not heard anthing about the 2024. I'm sure its going to be spectcular.
@@CK_RIDES I think Yamaha will stop making the r1 for the road and go to track bikes. Heard a whisper from Yamaha
@@andrewveal1958 They did introduce in EUROPE a TRACK SPECIFIC model. So the US market will be next I'm sure.
Beautiful bikes!
Thank you so much. I sincerely appreciate it.
@@CK_RIDES You’re very welcome.
I had no idea the R1M made all the adjustments to the suspension on the fly.
Thank you for that info.
@@fjones1914 Glad to be of help.
Good thing 2020 r6 value would only go up thru time 😊
Love the R6.
Also i got to say that one area i have to fault the R1 is i felt its electronic dash was a little less than the ZX10R
What is your height bro
5’11
Sir pls compare r1m and m1000rr
That video is coming.
I’m torn between the ZX10,H2r,R1,and the R1M they are all amazing bikes which one should I choose 😂
R1M❤
Me too. I concur.
Regular for track. M for road.
Those engine covers are GP racing or what brand? I wanna pick up covers but don't like the GP logo on the GP racing covers. Please lmk
They were machined for me custom by KWS who did the engine work for me.
@@CK_RIDES love em, you think they saved the cad file and can reprint?
@@CK_RIDES also what engine work have you had done? Have a 2016 r1 with 16000 miles. Flawless and pulls viscously hard
R1M all day
I LOVED MY R1M.
This guys opinion mattered until I saw the Tesla in his driveway (joke)😂🤣🤣
🤣🤣🤣 My Tesla is 5 years old and still taking souls. 😂😂😂
My truck is blue, but on a bike nothing looks better then green, and we all know who sports green.
I have a ZX-10R. I concur. 💯
@MM93 I love my CBR 1000RR too 🤣
my 2021 r1 dissipated un-evidentially 2.5 liters of oil in 500kms and blew the engine.... reliable.... nope oil check light didnt even come on while the engine was about to die!
My dream❤
Alex...you will soon have it . I promise. You may even get this very bike. I'm thinking about raffling it off to some lucky person after the summer season.
I’ll give u 15 for ur r1m end of 2023 season🎉
R1M rev your heart
Mav...wait until the next video drops tomorrow. Youre going to like it.
What are you talking about when you say "camber" for the rear suspension? That made no sense to me.
See my response to another viewer with the same question.
If you race on specific tracks you’ll understand what I mean when your crew chief adjusts your bike for the specific track conditions.
@@CK_RIDES That's what I mean. I have been to various tracks with veterans and never once have they talked about adjusting rear camber.
Couldn’t spend that money on a bike that comes with standard breaks look at the rsv4 rf night and day
Thats a really nice bike too. I've had Aprilia and wasn't a fan.
There is a reason why people don't like powerpoints...
Reason #1: Because I can
Mann give me the regular r1. Didnt hear you say anything about the r1m that would make me want to spend an extra 10k
Ohlins
You're not lying about the ride it's definitely not a Cadillac
Todd...sore bodies is a given. Especially on these bikes.
Yamaha r1m for me because it's way too loud expecially when it comes to revving it
Beautiful bikes and you should not care what people think oh why brotato chip would you buy another Yamaha R1.
Buy the R1M just for all that naked carbon fiber
The only difference is the electronics that it. Not worth the extra money...
The suspension on the R1M was WAAAAAAY worth it to me. It's a night and day ride from a normal R1 on the street.
@CK_RIDES I totally agree 💯 precent
I ride hp 4
That's awesome.
