Ok, I'm older than rich and I can say, yeah, there are plenty of attractive 40 yr olds. I see them all the time in my biz and the area I live in (mostly from the city). My last gf wasn't the greatest facially but she had the body of a 20 yr old. She had a better body than the last chick I banged and she was 34. (even better than the 22 yr old). The issue is many young women today let themselves go and look like 45 yr olds. Yes, there are also a tremendous amount of 40 yr old women who look like Jabba the hutt. I moved to a small town in my mid 40s and it was 18 months before I saw ONE local in my age group who I considered attractive enough to ask out (she was married). I said to a buddy I met up here: wtf is with the women? It's like they hit the wall at 25. Him: no, the young hot chicks move away to school or career and the ones that stay are uggos.

I'm a therapist. I can honestly say that if a person is acting out (ie, abusing substances, promiscuous, etc) while in therapy, then therapy is actually harmful. It gives the appearance of change but it really is not. Control of the acting out and simultaneously talking about what is going on is actually therapy
You realize every time you ask questions and have people reflect on memories they are editing said memories and you are influencing the edits right? Therapy is a joke for weak people, unless you’re using it as an opportunity to diagnose and share the diagnosis with the patient. That is its only legitimate use, diagnosing. The rest of your job really is their job, to reflect and correct.
In my experience, many couples don't actually want to change in MFT. Usually one of them does, and the other wants to blame. Rarely do you find that both people are receptive to change. I'm glad most of my clinic is individual therapy, not MFT. One of my friends is 100% MFT and he has many no-shows and cancellations. It's common in that area.
Im a therapist and you sir sound like a social worker. "Acting out" while in therapy allows the therapist to witness the acts, and allows us to address those issues.
@@onyx9857 Social Workers cross train in to Psychology in their MSW program but it does not prepare them for clinical mental health like a Licensed Psychologist or Licensed Professional Counselor whose degrees are in Psychology. I was so tired of working with LMSW and LCSW, that I vowed I would never work for one. I don't have the patience to explain to a Social Worker that assessments are not counseling sessions and that case management is not the priority for us.
Could not agree more with Rich's therapy take. Based on what happened in my life with my Ex & I before going thru divorce. Therapy was a waste of time/money. When therapist validated that my ex was being a see-you-next-tuesday & recommended fixes, ex wife just ignored it all / stopped going. When I'd go by myself, therapist just wanted to B.S. / waste time chit-chatting.

In my experience women cling on to the things that happened to them vs men who cling onto the things they did. Both things hold us back from future success. She was on antidepressants, ex giving grief and pulling strings with the teenage daughter. Got my heart broke. Should have sprinted away straight away. I have a hard-stop: I refuse to date single mothers (with kids in the house). I got a call from a buddy who finally understands my refusal to date such women. When i wanted to get more serious, she admitted she didnt have any interest in committing for up to a year and she even lied to me about her political beliefs so i would like her. I was already compromising on so many things i had had enough.
As a Gen Xer, what I've found in dating women around my age is not just the baggage, but they see you as strictly a utility. It's "fix my car, fix my house, fix my life!" Also she likes to require you to automatically HATE her ex and wish harm on him, even though you've never met the guy.

I honestly answered I have a townhouse that's empty. What is your budget ?" We are not boyfriend girlfriend..just met this woman moments ago. She got very angry instantly and responded, " NOTHING!!! When we express a preference for younger women, they often assume it's solely about their younger, firmer bodies. But it's more than that. I led a group of hikers on a 5-day trek. Among them were two young women in their early twenties, a woman around my age (40ish), and the rest were men. While ensuring everyone’s boots fit properly, I advised them to cut their toenails very short. Lifted toenails are a common issue. The older woman reacted angrily, insisting she knew how to cut her toenails after 40 years. I turned around and chose to ignore her, while the younger women complied. By day 3, Murphy's law struck. We were in a remote area and her toenail became a problem. I told her we’d have to remove it and she’d need to soak her foot in the ocean to prevent infection. I warned her that this is going to be fun - she will learn to yodel and tap-dance at the same time. We watched from a distance and couldn't help but laugh as she hopped around on one leg. Why is it so hard to communicate with women our age? It seems like their brains can't absorb information as they get closer to our age. This is just one example; I have many more. I wish they would consider it from another perspective. I'm responsible for the group's safety and dealing with someone who is confrontational and combative makes this task extremely difficult. They put us in an impossible situation. Are they reacting to perceived mansplaining? I haven't found any satisfactory explanations. A friend suggested she might have liked me, but that seems like a foolish way to show it. Any ideas?
Western women have so embraced the "I don't need a man" mindset and toxic rhetoric that it is almost impossible for them to shut up and listen of the speaker doesn't have a vagina. In my 20s I was a large number women that were 10 to 25 years older than myself, and "baggage" doesn't even begin to describe the amount of psychosis that most of them carry around with them. The lesson I learned was "I'm done with this shit."
Baggage is correct. I was talking to a woman at church for a short while. I wasn't interested in her at all but i was just being nice and making her laugh and carried some things for her. I guess making her laugh was me flirting in her eyes i don't know. Then one day she was all attitude and judgmentle and cold. Literally no reason for it. That's why i been single for so many years, im allergic to drama, and don't play into it.
I think there are good and bad at any age in either gender. I think we all have experiences in life that can wound us. Some people heal, change and grow and some do not. They become bitter and judgmental. I see people meeting later in life and discovering a meaningful relationship, as well as , younger generations. I still believe in love, forgiveness of self and others. I believe that there is someone for everyone. It just depends on where we are within ourselves and when our heart is open . All people can have baggage. You don’t live life without scars, sacrifices and struggles. These experiences either break us , or grow us. We can remain bitter ,or learn to embrace growth and change. I believe looks and attraction is exclusively in the eyes of the beholder. Otherwise , everyone would look and be the same. Some people do not look at the superficial aspects of our physical or outward appearance , as much as they look to the inward aspects of our soul. Some people actually appreciate a little natural imperfection. Some people desire more. I don’t think we should stigmatize every man and woman by every other . I think it’s important to get to know yourself and the other person and decide what really matters to you in the longevity of your life? None of us stay outwardly youthful forever. As we mature , looks become less vain and the soul becomes gold. Trust, compatibility and softness and comfort, trump in successful companionship. Keeping healthy and fit is important, but there are people out there that are enjoying really great sexual relationships with spouses that may not ring up to be really great looking , or model like in physical attributes, but yet, really know how to fully delight their partner. People enjoy different things. It’s that simple. It’s sad to see and hear all this venom being hurled at men and women the like. Underneath all this hurt, pain, hostility , etc., are a lot of hurt, scared people, who all want and need the same thing , but have lost the ability to connect because of whatever hurt or failed them , or mistakes they themselves have made. We all should be encouraging one another to find happiness and love again , instead of tearing each other down and apart. Yes, everyone has a story. That the harsh reality of life, but we can choose to be better people than we ourselves were before and learn to be more observant in the new other people we may hope to find companionship with in our futures. If we continue to to tear others down, raise the bar too high , then that just proves that we have not grown and we do not allow room for others to grow , forgive or be forgiven themselves. We then remain in a perpetual state of disbelief and disappointment because we become to impossible to satisfy ourselves or others. That doesn’t say good things about the person you are allowing yourself to become. It’s very negative and superficial. You no longer see people as human beings, but as objects to objectify.
Or until you give them what they want, safety, security, stability, commitment and children. Then they take away affection and you are left with duty and responsibility without so much as a kiss for your efforts. And IF you don't comply - you get taken to the cleaners. Marriage is a losing proposition for every man.

That's largely true. I've dated women dozens of women over 50 and 60. They are not frigid as a general matter. If anything they are far more active than women half their age.

You're playing a dangerous game though. Women get very emotionally attached to certain men, so you still need to be very, very careful. Older women are seasoned veterans and if the young man is not well versed in female nature or relationships, older women can be deadly.

A revelation story. I’m 54, retired, married off paper and am in better physical shape than most men in their twenties. We work out nearly everyday. I started P90X 3 when it came out 15 years ago, it worked for me and I never stopped. I play pickleball nearly every night. Recently I saw a group of women sitting in the bleachers at the court, one blond in particular caught my eye. From a far she had a nice figure. I grabbed a drink between games and got a closer look. As I got closer I notice the bags under her eyes and her arms littered with tattoos. As the group of them looked over at me, you can just see their stories written on their faces and at that moment I thought, can you imagine the chaos it would be to have that mess in your life. I went home, my wife cooked me dinner and I blissfully watched another episode of Outer Range. Life is good 😊 I later found out I was playing pickleball with one of their daughters lol 😂
Not to long ago I met a lady and we had the most incredible romantic time. I thought we were going to be together forever. Then about a week later, right out of the blue, she leaves me a John deer letter. So I called her up and she gave me a bunch of crap about me not listening to her enough or something, I mean I don't know I really wasn't paying attention. But the thing that hurt the most is I think she was seeing another guy......I never did find out who.

I've noticed, geography has a lot to do with the whole look's, age gap thing here in the States. More beautiful people in the cities but shallow. Rural areas tend to be awesome if you are a young successful man, and fit. A guy over 40 looking for a 25 year old girl in the city better be 100% but it's doable. In the country, you are thought of just being a dirty old perv by women. 90% of the couples I see are within a 2-7 year age difference, and I believe most women/girls come with baggage no matter how old they are. My ex-wife was 7 years younger than me. She was 20 and I was 27 when we got married. She is a great mom and a good person, but it was like raising another daughter for 20+ years.

I had a psychologist friend who told me once that it’s pretty easy to find decent women over the age of 45 or 50. They may look matronly, may have gained 25 or 30 pounds. May be graying. Typical aging stuff. But most of them are pretty honest/decent, have had long careers, have children/family, and are connected to their communities/attend church or clubs/groups. They will cook for you, be a good friend or a loyal partner. On the other hand, if you are looking for a single man over 45, he warned us to be careful. Men don’t like to remain single for long. So if they are over 45 and are alone, there is usually a reason(s)--he said to go slowly and watch out for: felons (or those with multiple misdemeanors/irresponsible and impulsive behaviors), alcoholics/drug users, tax evaders, sexusl abusers, may be a registered sex offender, sex addicts, addicted to porn, misogynistic attitudes/men who have baggage/hate women, closet gays/bisexuals, those with serious mental disorders such as schizophrenia, manic-depressive disorders, or those with malignant narcissistic/psychopathic traits/states, men who are seriously ill or have long term chronic diseases, men who are seriously overweight such that it affects their health/social connections/movements, men who can never seem to keep a job, men without any long term life goals, men with lots of “sob stories,” men who are drifters with lots of burned bridges behind them & few connections to their communities or families, cat- fishers and scam artists, men looking to connect with a working woman/marry her just to connect to her health insurance/income, homeless men who are homeless due to their own bad choices, and on & on. Thanks, I watch episodes like this to better understand what my alpha male likes and needs from me. The most attractive feature on a woman is a genuine smile. Treatments like Botox not only prevent wrinkles but they also hinder micro-expressions making it even harder for effective communication. We all have life's baggage, this means you have to tolerate each others baggage without going insane. Sometimes it's a point of humor and other times, it's a disaster. But, both sexes should do their best to be attractive to your partner, even as age is kicking your ass.
I live in a midsized city in CA and I hardly ever see handsome men in their 40's with attractive women in their mid 20's. When I was 31 y/o I did have a fling with a cute 23 y/o, but my wife is much closer to my age. It's rare for me to see a near 20 year age gap.

Ok, I'm older than rich and I can say, yeah, there are plenty of attractive 40 yr olds. I see them all the time in my biz and the area I live in (mostly from the city). My last gf wasn't the greatest facially but she had the body of a 20 yr old. She had a better body than the last chick I banged and she was 34. (even better than the 22 yr old). The issue is many young women today let themselves go and look like 45 yr olds.
Yes, there are also a tremendous amount of 40 yr old women who look like Jabba the hutt. I'm a therapist. I can honestly say that if a person is acting out (ie, abusing substances, promiscuous, etc) while in therapy, then therapy is actually harmful. It gives the appearance of change but it really is not. Control of the acting out and simultaneously talking about what is going on is actually therapy
You realize every time you ask questions and have people reflect on memories they are editing said memories and you are influencing the edits right? Therapy is a joke for weak people, unless you’re using it as an opportunity to diagnose and share the diagnosis with the patient. That is its only legitimate use, diagnosing. The rest of your job really is their job, to reflect and correct.

In my experience, many couples don't actually want to change in MFT. Usually one of them does, and the other wants to blame. Rarely do you find that both people are receptive to change. I'm glad most of my clinic is individual therapy, not MFT. One of my friends is 100% MFT and he has many no-shows and cancellations. It's common in that area.
Im a therapist and you sir sound like a social worker. "Acting out" while in therapy allows the therapist to witness the acts, and allows us to address those issues.
@@onyx9857 Social Workers cross train in to Psychology in their MSW program but it does not prepare them for clinical mental health like a Licensed Psychologist or Licensed Professional Counselor whose degrees are in Psychology. I was so tired of working with LMSW and LCSW, that I vowed I would never work for one. I don't have the patience to explain to a Social Worker that assessments are not counseling sessions and that case management is not the priority for us.

In my experience women cling on to the things that happened to them vs men who cling onto the things they did. Both things hold us back from future success. Rarely will you hear a woman talk about how awesome she was back in her day but you will hear her go on about the “poor her” events of her past.

I was dating an older women as a younger guy. When i wanted to get more serious, she admitted she didnt have any interest in committing for up to a year and she even lied to me about her political beliefs so i would like her. the problems I've personally seen with messing around with older women is they try to dominate and control the frame of the relationship.... also they are stuck in competition mode and they will compete with you in everything. and everything seems to be a loyalty test.

I wish they would consider it from another perspective. I'm responsible for the group's safety and dealing with someone who is confrontational and combative makes this task extremely difficult. They put us in an impossible situation. Are they reacting to perceived mansplaining? I haven't found any satisfactory explanations. A friend suggested she might have liked me, but that seems like a foolish way to show it. Any ideas?

I still believe in love, forgiveness of self and others. I believe that there is someone for everyone. It just depends on where we are within ourselves and when our heart is open . All people can have baggage. You don’t live life without scars, sacrifices and struggles. These experiences either break us , or grow us. We can remain bitter ,or learn to embrace growth and change. I believe looks and attraction is exclusively in the eyes of the beholder. Otherwise , everyone would look and be the same. Some people do not look at the superficial aspects of our physical or outward appearance , as much as they look to the inward aspects of our soul. Some people actually appreciate a little natural imperfection. Some people desire more. I don’t think we should stigmatize every man and woman by every other . I think it’s important to get to know yourself and the other person and decide what really matters to you in the longevity of your life? None of us stay outwardly youthful forever. As we mature , looks become less vain and the soul becomes gold. Trust, compatibility and softness and comfort, trump in successful companionship. Keeping healthy and fit is important, but there are people out there that are enjoying really great sexual relationships with spouses that may not ring up to be really great looking , or model like in physical attributes, but yet, really know how to fully delight their partner. People enjoy different things. It’s that simple. It’s sad to see and hear all this venom being hurled at men and women the like. Underneath all this hurt, pain, hostility , etc., are a lot of hurt, scared people, who all want and need the same thing , but have lost the ability to connect because of whatever hurt or failed them , or mistakes they themselves have made. We all should be encouraging one another to find happiness and love again , instead of tearing each other down and apart. Yes, everyone has a story. That the harsh reality of life, but we can choose to be better people than we ourselves were before and learn to be more observant in the new other people we may hope to find companionship with in our futures. If we continue to to tear others down, raise the bar too high , then that just proves that we have not grown and we do not allow room for others to grow , forgive or be forgiven themselves. We then remain in a perpetual state of disbelief and disappointment because we become to impossible to satisfy ourselves or others. That doesn’t say good things about the person you are allowing yourself to become. It’s very negative and superficial. You no longer see people as human beings, but as objects to objectify.

I’m 54, retired, married off paper and am in better physical shape than most men in their twenties. We work out nearly everyday. I started P90X 3 when it came out 15 years ago, it worked for me and I never stopped. I play pickleball nearly every night. Recently I saw a group of women sitting in the bleachers at the court, one blond in particular caught my eye. From a far she had a nice figure. I grabbed a drink between games and got a closer look. As I got closer I notice the bags under her eyes and her arms littered with tattoos. As the group of them looked over at me, you can just see their stories written on their faces and at that moment I thought, can you imagine the chaos it would be to have that mess in your life. I've noticed, geography has a lot to do with the whole look's, age gap thing here in the States. More beautiful people in the cities but shallow. Same here, 62, fit and financially sound. I have a 45 year old that I can’t shake, it’s been 4 years.
I had a psychologist friend who told me once that it’s pretty easy to find decent women over the age of 45 or 50. They may look matronly, may have gained 25 or 30 pounds. May be graying. Typical aging stuff. But most of them are pretty honest/decent, have had long careers, have children/family, and are connected to their communities/attend church or clubs/groups. They will cook for you, be a good friend or a loyal partner. On the other hand, if you are looking for a single man over 45, he warned us to be careful. Men don’t like to remain single for long. So if they are over 45 and are alone, there is usually a reason(s)--he said to go slowly and watch out for: felons (or those with multiple misdemeanors/irresponsible and impulsive behaviors), alcoholics/drug users, tax evaders, sexusl abusers, may be a registered sex offender, sex addicts, addicted to porn, misogynistic attitudes/men who have baggage/hate women, closet gays/bisexuals, those with serious mental disorders such as schizophrenia, manic-depressive disorders, or those with malignant narcissistic/psychopathic traits/states, men who are seriously ill or have long term chronic diseases, men who are seriously overweight such that it affects their health/social connections/movements, men who can never seem to keep a job, men without any long term life goals, men with lots of “sob stories,” men who are drifters with lots of burned bridges behind them & few connections to their communities or families, cat- fishers and scam artists, men looking to connect with a working woman/marry her just to connect to her health insurance/income, homeless men who are homeless due to their own bad choices, and on & on. This is very probably not true of decent men who have had a long career, are connected to their communities/friends/church, and who have had a long marriage/relationship(s) but who have been recently widowed.

Because men and women are not the same. There are more women willing to date a single father than there are men willing to date a single mother.. Men and women's attraction for the opposite sex is asymmetrical.
The men in Florida in broke areas don't age well compared to majority of women.
Men definitely carry baggage from their past. Also, men lose their ability to love after they screw up and lose a good woman. They always pine for her 😂

Most single parents end up pairing up with other single parents.
Men who have bagged are NOT preferred by women with little to no baggage.

The most attractive feature on a woman is a genuine smile. Treatments like Botox not only prevent wrinkles but they also hinder micro-expressions making it even harder for effective communication. Talking to a person who has a frozen plastic face creeps me out!
Women who smile, laugh and like to eat also like sex and are not a miserable harpy.
Most older men don't need the little blue pill...they just need a pretty younger woman.
But, unless an older guys has MONEY, "pretty younger women" DON'T WANT YOU...and HALF of men over 40 DO NEED The Blue Pill--& it doesn't make them great lvoers--just obsessive pile driver.
@user-cz5lj2vx1f meh. I'm 55, average looking and probably considered middle class. I only date women in their 20s and 30s. Nowadays all you have to do is approach them live...they're so use to online, that approaching them in public is about an 80% close rate.

Older person, both women and men. An adult person can also be wiser, more responsible skillful where it is important, and resolve her earlier immaturity, childhood issues. I am a so-called "older" woman, and I am 100% significantly more atteactive package now than when I was earlier. No fish lips, tattoos, do not need spanx because simply fit ). But, sadly, you are right about a lot of people, Gentlemen in my age age group are not interested in having children anymore. Maybe that's why I do have good choices now.
We all have life's baggage, this means you have to tolerate each others baggage without going insane. Sometimes it's a point of humor and other times, it's a disaster. But, both sexes should do their best to be attractive to your partner, even as age is kicking your ass.

I live in a midsized city in CA and I hardly ever see handsome men in their 40's with attractive women in their mid 20's. When I was 31 y/o I did have a fling with a cute 23 y/o, but my wife is much closer to my age. It's rare for me to see a near 20 year age gap.
I'm 55 and have a better figure than I did at 20. Just sayin
Me too i’m almost 51 and i go to the gym all the time and look and feel better and am fit and in shape - more than i was at 25 or 30
