Very nice job. And super helpful. One suggestion is to lower the volume on the "music". I ended up watching this video using closed captions with the sound off. Otherwise, very informative. Cheers.

Yeah, that is my style. I talk, discuss what I am going to do, what tools to use, then I get into the work. I try to make it as engaging as possible as I don't want people to watch 2 minutes of a 15 minute video. Therefore during the work part of the video, I play music and then typically speed it up so the videos aren't hours long. I also timestamp each video so you can go to the part you are looking for and usually (although not with this video) the "work" part has its own timestamp. Thanks for watching and sorry you had to endure UA-cams free non copyrighted music. Side note: I was making my own music for a while until someone stole my work and claimed it as theirs and UA-cam forced me to take down my videos even though I could prove I published it months prior to someone stealing it from me. This music thing is irritating to me too, glad you found a way around it.

    I did this on a 1969 911E back in the 80's - 90's.
On purchase the seals were dreadful, mastic packed up with strips of windscreen seal.
I was lucky because the local Porsche delership wanted to clear their old stock and offered me anything I wanted at cost price. They let me loose with their copy of the burgandy book and said go in the store and help yourself.
It was a few years before I put it all on. I used ordinary Evo-Stik Impact Adhesive. Some on the seal, some on the car, wait 15 minutes to go tacky and then press together smartly. No need for any clamping at all.. You have to appreciate that in those days the Evo-Stik you bought in your local hardwear store was of a formula much stronger than today's diluted version.

Cool videos. Noticed when you were removing the old real seal that your rear seal did not have the plastic rivets on the roll bar in the corners. Are you aware of them?

No not aware of them. I think someone had this apart before. I have spent a few hours adjusting and trying to get it where it won't leak. What a drag.

Great video on a job I've been putting off for a long time. Couple of questions: 1- How have the URO seals held up? I've read some reviews on Pelican that say they fell apart after a few years. 2- There appear to be 3 options for new seals, URO, Porsche OE manufacturer, and Genuine Porsche parts. Did you compare any of these before using the URO?

I purchased what I had available. This seal is good quality and has the felt going up the targa bar. Looks like it will seal well. If you watch my videos, I have not actually driven this car anywhere due to parts issues with the engine. Hope to have some results on this when I start using it.

Thanks for the informative video! I am in the process of doing the same thing to my targa. Question, when you removed the Uro 91156509145 trim I noticed there seems to be a piece of plastic between the metal targa bar and the trim. I don’t have this and just bare metal was under my trim. Any idea what that part is called and where I can purchase it? I have exposed screws on the targa bar when the trim is in place.

Are you talking about the guide in the center of the bar forward of the seal? I think that is metal and there is no plastic in the groove. You can send a photo of what you are talking about to my Afternoon Garage Facebook page linked below. Really curious to see what you have there.
